True class acts of the platform! I'm planning to buy a simple bench and dumbbells so I can do pretty much all my main workouts in my bedroom until I move out.
I just recently got out of an apartment setup, I had an aisle in my room basically. You really don't need much to start peoples! Love the video, setting up my garage gym still, but quite excited!
BEAUTIFUL!! I first started my home gym at the age of 15 and now it has progressed over the years. Im 18 now and have a whole setup that i bought, proud to say ive set some prs in the home gym aka HOGS PARADISE
I've been building my home gym for almoat three years. This summer I got a squat rack, an olympic bar and 160lbs, fat gripz, and rings. This is in addition to two "home gym" cable machines, a few standard bars with ~500lbs, battle ropes, four slam balls, and a bench press bench(?) that I've collected for free through the years. I also got 4 stones for carrying and my dad and I built a platform for loading. I owe so much to juji and tom for the inspiration to be better and try so many new things I would have been too intimidated to try. Thanks for all you guys do.
you guys literally explained everything ive been doing since COVID in terms of training. I got rings, a cheap barbell and 300 lbs of cheap weights with it and have been doing lightweight exercises without a rack or bench. I'm excited to start adding new things once prices start to look better.
started a home gym about 6 months ago. now due to not finding what i need locally i am welding up my onw equipment. you guys rock love the channel and have followed for years. keep up the fantastic work
I have had three mismatched kettlebells for years now, and I love them. Those put a nontrivial amount of lean mass on me. At the beginning of the year, I added a Rogue Ohio bar, 160kg of bumper plates and a couple of horse stall mats for the back yard. It's been great. I've been deadlifting and cleaning and snatching and it's been great. I'm looking at making some farmers handles and other strongman implements out of stuff I have sitting around. I am never getting another gym membership.
Jay N ya I’m noticing that. Luckily I only need to buy a bench. I’m a metal worker so I’m making my own bar with adjustable legs with baskets on the end that I can fill with chunks of scrap metal for weight.
Finally got a barbell and a couple 45's and 25s. Been knocking out deadlifts, shoulder press, and rows ever since the pandemic. Need a squat stand/rig, considering building one but hard up for space. Another great addition that has added a lot of versatility for accessory work is resistance bands with handles. Thanks for the great videos!
2 years ago I bought a bar and bumper plates totaling up to 205#. Over time I’ve added more plates, a bench, built my own squat/bench stands out of wood, concrete, and 5 gallon buckets. And now I have a super butt and am nearing a 400# DL. Dreams do come true!!!!
I’ve got about 150 lbs in plates, a few bands, some cheap grip squeezers, a curl bar and a really crap straight bar... looking to add some dumbbell handles and a bench, then I’m gonna add some ghetto way to safely store a bar for a bench press... almost no space, and a piece of MDF on the floor as I live in a trailer house from the 70s and I don’t trust the floor.... adding a little more every week... do my cardio walking on trails in the woods, and doing jumping jacks on the back porch! Week 3, only lost 3 lbs, but I’m down almost 2 inches in my waist, strength and flexibility are noticeably better, energy is up, and my back pain is 1/2 what it was... looking to add a 10 lb kettlebell, a chin up/dip station, and I plan to build a power rack out of 4x4s with a sheet of MDF under it... also, yesterday I realized the pickup truck tool box I’m using for storage on the side of my house makes a solid step up box for leg day
I have had a power rack, free-standing bench, barbell and plates, adjustable dumbbells, and bands for many years and am constantly learning of new things I can do. The latest one is belt squats with one end of a barbell and a dip belt. Countless things that can be done. But for the powerlifting centric people, it's really all that's needed. I made up for gym membership right off the bat in less than two years.
I've had the living room gym set-up for many years now. I have three bike hooks in my rafter, two for rings, one for a pulley set-up that's in my squat rack, I have squat stands, a fold up bench with spotter stands, a log bar, two flat bars, a bison bar, tricep bar, landmine and attachments, a small sled, a fold up kip bar, dip bars, mini parelletts, furniture sliders, yoga mat, bench block, bands, a five grip pull up bar in the bathroom doorway, two shelves of dumbbells and kettlebells, an inspired pegboard Grip Genie wall with pulley attachments also hanging on the pegboard, fold up stools and a weighted belt. Accessories of course, recovery items as well, and crash pads for them Oly lifts
I actually started putting together a home gym because of you guys! I was watching Smosh’s try not to laugh, saw juji, and started watching your videos. I wanted to get more in shape, so I asked for some Christmas presents and saved some money and got a barbell, some plates, and a squat rack. Ya’ll are such an inspiration👍
Quarantine 2, electric bugaloo. Picked up a set of 5-50 adjustable dumbbells, a bench, and some resistance bands. I’m able to get a pump on just about anything! It’s hard to really target the quads, but I feel that I have a good minimalist start! Stay fit out there folks!
Girl here, I have a very well equipped basement gym, which includes a rack, deadlift platform, a variety of bars, a leg press, a leg extension , a GHD machine, TREADMILL, a variety of medicine balls, several benches, KB, bands, and a plate loaded cable crossover machine. Start off small and keep building as one can. Love my gym.
I started building my garage gym about 3 years before the pandemic started. I got a squat rack, cable row/lat pulldown on the rack, preacher curl attachment for bench, leg cur/extension attachment for bench, trap bar, viking press handles, a bunch of 2" Olympic weights, and a bunch of misc handles/ barbells/dumbbells. I fell into the 1" Standard weight trap in the beginning. I mainly use those for curling now. I need to get a better bench and barbell. I will admit Juji gave me ideas for what to buy next for my gym as I watched his videos.
Due to the pandemic I couldn't train for about 6 months, so last month I saw a deal on some used weights, a 5ft bar and a small bench and bought it without hesitation. The plates are rubber weights which makes them look a lot bigger than they actually weigh, but I am really happy with it. Had to make a few adjustments here and there and this month I am planning to buy some bands, adjustable dumbbell handles, and hopefully a 7ft bar too! The best thing is that I feel a lot better both physically and mentally because I train now. As literally everyone said in the video, START SMALL, just START.
I got a home gym because of the pandemic. I LOVE it. Never gonna go back to a commercial gym again unless it's just to show off my home gym gains. And btw my gym is in the living room of my apartment. Knowing that Juji used to do the same thing made me feel OK about having a rack take up half my living room.
I'd rather do squats in a mask than my job (marine technician) lol. Now, the squats would suck for sure... but imagine hanging upside down in an engine compartment trying to change out a raw water impeller while supporting your weight with one arm and a leg hooked on a railing. For ~6hrs. It's 100 degrees outside, 150-200 in the compartment. Dirty sweat is running down from your oil soaked and fiberglass smattered clothes and into your mouth and eyes. You drop your $40 socket while trying to change it out with 1 hand and it rolls under the engine and back to the transom, never to be seen again. Yeah, I'll take the squats any day, don't care how shitty they are lol. :D On another note: Good advice as always, keep it up guys.
In my country of residence we book time slots, keep distance and most of us sanitize equipment before and after use. A mask would be safer yet, but *awful* for high RPE sets.
Because America can't keep the rates down we have to go through this crap. Idiots here have to go to weddings, parties, rallies, protests, sing in indoor churches... So many idiots in the county.
That rope machine is honestly deadly as a workout. We had one in our GoodLife fitness gym and it made my arms sore in a way I’ve never felt before. Good for grip and back strength as well.
Seeing Juji's overall career and life progression is awesome, sure he's blessed to be a RUclipsr but his wacky and intense personality has stayed the same all these years.
The only thing that makes Juji happier than talking about being able to outfit a gym top to bottom, is him talking about Tom building his first home gym & chasing the dream of big arms (no sarms!). A true swolemate; the iron really brings people together in magical ways. The Juji & Tom adventures are some of the purest moments on youtube. Exciting times for the boys (& Sam) !
Dropped my gym membership last November and finally dedicated myself to making the home gym functional. It's been great. And couldn't have been better timing due to all this covid crap. Bought rings about a month ago and love them. Thanks for the continued great content guys!
Right now my home gym consists of gym rings under my parks tree, some plant pots filled with concrete and a thick stick for deadlifts, my backpack that I fill with rocks and a resistance band. Usually I put a stick in the resistance band and loop it through my rings so I can do tricep pulldowns. Basically I Jerry rig everything and anything I can find in my park.
I built my home gym just over a month ago. It consists of a whole bench and a cheap barbell and dumbbells. It was time to stop being being lazy and obese.
Started my home gym in March. A barbell, four 25# plates and two 45s. Finally got a squat rack with a pull-up bar and bench. Then dumbbells 5-40#. Olympic lifts, squats for days! Floor presses for shoulder and bench! Best decision ever!
I was going insane in lockdown. Havent done weightlifting since end of February. Found a small biz thru FB marketplace, squat rack half cage, olympic barbell, and #300 in plates for $650. Picked it up Tuesday morning. SO HYPE!
I live in a 60 square meters apartment with my dad so we don't have much spare space. My home gym right now is just a yoga mat, a barbell, a dumbell, around 80kg of plates in total and 120 lbs in total of resistance bands. It's been slow but I can notice the gains, juji is right, barbell and dumbell is all you need
I love that the Dynabody curl machine out-performed the others. I had the pleasure of meeting Heavy in Knoxville TN while demoing his equipment for a startup gym a few years ago, and he'd be very pleased to know his gear is still held in high regard.
I have a DIY squat rack thing, found an affordable adjustable bench, a bar with 3 pairs of 45s and a pair of 25s, 2 pairs of dumbbells, and rings. It's everything I've ever wanted for a home gym, and it's sooo much better than going to a commercial gym.

I got sick of dealing with the commercial gym and at the end of last year I bough a rogue RM6 rack, a rogue power bar, 275 lbs of weights, adjustable dumbbells, some bands, and rings. I couldn’t be happier and am looking to add a bike and a weight stack as soon as I can. Home gym is the way to go!
I bought a used "Fitness Pro" full bench with a couple extra Weider plates that it came with (almost 300lbs total) for $200. Hired an online strength coach @ $125 a month (totally worth the money with the right coach). Squats, deadlifts, overhead press and bench presses, linear progressive overload. Lost 20 pounds of fat, gained ten in muscle, waist size down two inches, deadlifts went from 130 to 275....in only two months. Including repairing injuries like plantar fasciitis, diastasis recti from getting fat really fast and lifting incorrectly at work, poor wrist mobility, posture correction, the list goes on. Im still very novice and have a long way to go, but Im testament to how quickly one's, fat, beat up, body can change in a short period of time with some hard work and a good find on Craigslist. Thanks, Tom and Juji, for your rad videos.
glad i got stated on mine early, i now have a power rack and a punching bag, the power rack has a lat and rowing attachment so i can get my back and cable work in as well it's really nice having my own gym, my own head space to work out in, whenever i want, rain, sleet, snow, hail, thunderstorm, doesn't matter, home gym is the best, just gotta work the discipline of going in everyday into a daily routine which if you already go to a regular gym their ya go
Started my home gym with a pair of 50 pounds adjustable bowflex dumbbells when i was in university 10 years ago .. They served me well for a quick pump over time, but when the pandemic started, I rushed in before everyone and got myself an unnamed barbell, with 120kg of hex plates, and worked out with it for a couple of months .. Because I had so little, I became so creative, and gained a lot of strength and muscle .. A few months ago, I bought a locally-made squat rack, with plate storage, I upgraded my foam flooring from Toys'R'us to rubber flooring, got more plates, got a bench, an adjustable kettlebell, and a bunch of useless accessories .. It's wonderful, but i feel i could've done a better job with the setup given the money i spent on it ..
I had my dad's barbell, adjustable dumbells, and 90 lbs total with plates. I got an actual barbell now, some plates, and I'm waiting on some bells of steel stuff to ship (rack and dip attachment). I just need some bands, a bench, and a belt then I'm gonna be golden for years
Just today i bought My first barbell, pull up rack is on building proccess and i'm trying to get some cheap bumper plates, very very excited right now!
One of the dumb things I have at home that I train with, is one of those leg stretcher things that you pull yourself into a pancake stretch with, I actually love it
My home gym started at the beginning of this year with some breathing exercises, psychedelics, and calisthenics. I was gifted a small weight set with a little bar and two dumbbells that you can change the weight on, and then I later got some rings, and resistance bands with a door anchor. And yoga and ice baths too :)
I recently made the purchase of a barbell/rack 300lbs of weight plates and a bunch of dumbbells. Can’t wait till the weight plates are in, just doing bent over rows and incline pressing has me so excited for the workouts to come
I got all my stuff off of Kijiji. It was a mechanic that had done $800 worth of work on someone's car. They couldn't pay so he took the equipment in trade. Wasn't using it so eventually sold it and only wanted out what he had been owed. Full squat rack with chin up bar, heavy commercial grade adjustable bench, oly bar and oly dumbbell handles, ez curl bar, plate loaded pulley machine with high/low attachments and a wide grip pulldown bar. Also 600lbs of olympic plates and spring collars. I've only had to buy a thick rubber mat, weight tree, a couple pulley attachments and some better locking collars for the dumbbells. One of the best/luckiest purchases I've ever made.
We have a simple set up but it works: got a Rogue Echo bar, a set of Echo bumper plates, a squat stand and a bench. Also have some climbing holds attached to the garage doorway for pullups. I live in a house with four housemates and we've been very thankful to have this set up during the lockdown! Bought that stuff last year just to avoid going to a gym and I'm very glad to have this home gym! Also recently ordered some ammonia from you Juji and we tried it out today for the first time, we were like holy shit it really does make you go into beast mode!
Have had a home gym for years. Actually started with Power Blocks because space was at a premium. Expensive at the time but have served me well. Other than the stickers coming off they still work great. They are probably 15+ years old. Wanted to get into more compound lifts so got a cheap First Gear rack, bench, bar, and plates set from a Dick's Sporting Goods that was going out of business. I maybe spent ~400 dollars for all of it. I still have the rack which I'd like to upgrade but it does it's job of saving me if I get in trouble. I ended up upgrading to a Rogue bar as a Christmas present a few years ago and the difference between a good bar and that First Gear was night and day. If you are going to spend any decent chunk of money get a good bar. I ended up recycling the First Gear bar. My most recent upgrade; which was still a few years ago, was getting some Rogue bumper plates. Being able to drop the bar and not fearing the plates shattering or damaging my garage floor was a bigger nicety than I realized.
Recently bought a rack, bar, 450lbs worth of plates and the set of Grip Genie grippers. All I need now are a reverse hyper, adjustable dbs (to save space), cable stack, lat pull down, and a ghd.
My home gym consists of gymnastics rings, one dumbbell with some plates, and Grip Genie grippers 1, 2, and 3! When I got them over Christmas 2019, I couldn’t close the green gripper(2), now I can! and can almost close the blue gripper (3) Cheers Tom and Juji. Thank you Travis for touching my grippers. I also received your autograph on the post card, haha

You can build a rack out of 4x4s Mines held up for six years now. cheap too
Juji is honestly such a nice genuine guy. I wish all you of the best of luck in your pursuit of gains
I literally only work out at our home gym and it’s changed me dramatically
Literally?
In what way?
started a home gym about 6 months ago. now due to not finding what i need locally i am welding up my onw equipment. you guys rock love the channel and have followed for years. keep up the fantastic work
Because of covid it's almost impossible to find weights at reasonable prices. Wish my area had a place like this!
For real though. 500 pounds for $1000. I have 300 pounds worth but they are for 1 inch bars lol doesn’t compare when you want to start power lifting
What kind of place is this?
I have had three mismatched kettlebells for years now, and I love them. Those put a nontrivial amount of lean mass on me. At the beginning of the year, I added a Rogue Ohio bar, 160kg of bumper plates and a couple of horse stall mats for the back yard. It's been great. I've been deadlifting and cleaning and snatching and it's been great. I'm looking at making some farmers handles and other strongman implements out of stuff I have sitting around. I am never getting another gym membership.
I was literally just looking at getting my first gym equipment online when this video popped up. perfect timing!
Good luck finding any weightlifting stuff. Everyone has been sold out of everything for months....
In uk you can buy 4x5 kg cast iron plates for £30 from Argos everything else is way expensive. 2x25 kg plates are like £130
Jay N ya I’m noticing that. Luckily I only need to buy a bench. I’m a metal worker so I’m making my own bar with adjustable legs with baskets on the end that I can fill with chunks of scrap metal for weight.
Literally?
Finally got a barbell and a couple 45's and 25s. Been knocking out deadlifts, shoulder press, and rows ever since the pandemic. Need a squat stand/rig, considering building one but hard up for space. Another great addition that has added a lot of versatility for accessory work is resistance bands with handles. Thanks for the great videos!
Covid lock down motivated me to clean out my garage and invest in a garage gym, a pool and a trampoline all for excercise purposes
I love how Juji always talks about Tom to camera man like the camera man isn't Tom.
I'm very glad that Juji and Tom have the ability to make videos, I feel better knowing there are awesome people out there living their best lives.
Gyms in Sweden still open. Deca season is here bby
That's because sweden is superior to the US
I’ve got about 150 lbs in plates, a few bands, some cheap grip squeezers, a curl bar and a really crap straight bar... looking to add some dumbbell handles and a bench, then I’m gonna add some ghetto way to safely store a bar for a bench press... almost no space, and a piece of MDF on the floor as I live in a trailer house from the 70s and I don’t trust the floor.... adding a little more every week... do my cardio walking on trails in the woods, and doing jumping jacks on the back porch! Week 3, only lost 3 lbs, but I’m down almost 2 inches in my waist, strength and flexibility are noticeably better, energy is up, and my back pain is 1/2 what it was... looking to add a 10 lb kettlebell, a chin up/dip station, and I plan to build a power rack out of 4x4s with a sheet of MDF under it... also, yesterday I realized the pickup truck tool box I’m using for storage on the side of my house makes a solid step up box for leg day
I love the little "I see Sam" easter eggs hidden in the videos
I have had a power rack, free-standing bench, barbell and plates, adjustable dumbbells, and bands for many years and am constantly learning of new things I can do. The latest one is belt squats with one end of a barbell and a dip belt. Countless things that can be done. But for the powerlifting centric people, it's really all that's needed. I made up for gym membership right off the bat in less than two years.
For the algorithm.
Excuse me Mr. where did you stumble across that sexy Reign face mask. Coolest one ive seen to date hands down, and would love to get one for myself.
My essentials
-barbell and weights
-power rack w/band attachments and pull-up bar and platform
- reverse hyper
-High pulldown low row plate loadable cable machine
-belt sqwat
7:28 ah yes CaptainSparklez’s home gym!
I laughed so hard at Tom doing leg curls on the bicep machine. I love you, Tom.
Huge disclaimer: I live in the EU, in America is way cheaper to find gym equipment both new and used.
True, but it's still do-able. I started with a barbell, a pair of weight stands and some plates. Been building on that ever since.
@@RusstyytssuR I agree, but is it just me or I cant find an olympic barbell for less then 160-180€?
@@SergeyLifts I just use a thick stick and some concrete I threw in a few plant pots. Weights weight, seems to work for me.
@@jamescanjuggle lol, nice out of the box solution!
Yeah dude since covid weights and equipment has got apeshit expensive...
0:56 - if we ever need someone to play "Macho Man" Randy Savage, look no further.
Dude I want those barbells those are great prices
Due to the pandemic I couldn't train for about 6 months, so last month I saw a deal on some used weights, a 5ft bar and a small bench and bought it without hesitation. The plates are rubber weights which makes them look a lot bigger than they actually weigh, but I am really happy with it. Had to make a few adjustments here and there and this month I am planning to buy some bands, adjustable dumbbell handles, and hopefully a 7ft bar too! The best thing is that I feel a lot better both physically and mentally because I train now. As literally everyone said in the video, START SMALL, just START.
$1/lb for plates would be refreshing to see atm
On another note: Good advice as always, keep it up guys.
If everyone had a bro like Juji and Tom, the world would be a better place.
America has to be one of the only places with gyms that enforce masks
None of the gyms here would even suggest wearing them
They have signs not to.
Cause politics
In my country of residence we book time slots, keep distance and most of us sanitize equipment before and after use. A mask would be safer yet, but *awful* for high RPE sets.
Because America can't keep the rates down we have to go through this crap. Idiots here have to go to weddings, parties, rallies, protests, sing in indoor churches... So many idiots in the county.
Juji really is one of the nicest people ever. His heart is his biggest muscle of all.
7:28 Hey, it’s Jordan Maron’s home gym! The man has made millions playing minecraft on his CaptainSparklez channel.
Imagine going in that store just to get a sick pump🤣
Dropped my gym membership last November and finally dedicated myself to making the home gym functional. It's been great. And couldn't have been better timing due to all this covid crap. Bought rings about a month ago and love them. Thanks for the continued great content guys!
My home quarantine gym consists of two adjustable dumbbells and an EZ bar.😂
Right now my home gym consists of gym rings under my parks tree, some plant pots filled with concrete and a thick stick for deadlifts, my backpack that I fill with rocks and a resistance band.
Usually I put a stick in the resistance band and loop it through my rings so I can do tricep pulldowns. Basically I Jerry rig everything and anything I can find in my park.
I built my home gym just over a month ago. It consists of a whole bench and a cheap barbell and dumbbells. It was time to stop being being lazy and obese.
Good for you man! Get after it!
Started my home gym in March. A barbell, four 25# plates and two 45s. Finally got a squat rack with a pull-up bar and bench. Then dumbbells 5-40#. Olympic lifts, squats for days! Floor presses for shoulder and bench! Best decision ever!
"shmorgishborg" - Tom Borgdan
I was going insane in lockdown. Havent done weightlifting since end of February.
Found a small biz thru FB marketplace, squat rack half cage, olympic barbell, and #300 in plates for $650.
Picked it up Tuesday morning. SO HYPE!
In England gym equipment is either out of stock or extortionatly expensive. Made this vid frustrating to watch 😂
The last time I was this early joji beard was reaching his knees
I love that the Dynabody curl machine out-performed the others. I had the pleasure of meeting Heavy in Knoxville TN while demoing his equipment for a startup gym a few years ago, and he'd be very pleased to know his gear is still held in high regard.
I have a DIY squat rack thing, found an affordable adjustable bench, a bar with 3 pairs of 45s and a pair of 25s, 2 pairs of dumbbells, and rings. It's everything I've ever wanted for a home gym, and it's sooo much better than going to a commercial gym.
This was a very eye-opening video Tom and Juji. I really appreciate you taking the time to make an edit this video. You guys rock. P. S. Tom has got to be one of the most underrated camera men/editor on RUclips. If you guys didn't know this he has helped so many people start their pages it's not even funny, so give Tom some love you guys and gals in the comments he definitely deserves it. "Live to lift and lift to live" my brothers and sisters. ✌ out
I got sick of dealing with the commercial gym and at the end of last year I bough a rogue RM6 rack, a rogue power bar, 275 lbs of weights, adjustable dumbbells, some bands, and rings.
Thanks, Tom and Juji, for your rad videos.
glad i got stated on mine early, i now have a power rack and a punching bag, the power rack has a lat and rowing attachment so i can get my back and cable work in as well it's really nice having my own gym, my own head space to work out in, whenever i want, rain, sleet, snow, hail, thunderstorm, doesn't matter, home gym is the best, just gotta work the discipline of going in everyday into a daily routine which if you already go to a regular gym their ya go
My home gym is a spare small bedroom with a rack/pull up bar, a barbell, plate dumbbells, various sized kettlebells and a band set.
The amount of knowledge between these two is incredible
Mad respect for the trucker driver who carries a squat rack, that's truly inspiring!

Also have a home gym ... love it ! Barbell / Hex bar / Curl bar / 120kg of weights / bench (with arm curl) / multi squat rack /dumbels .. whoop !!
My gym is two bars. One for rings(10ft) and one for pullups(7ft) jump ropes. Resistance bands. A weight vest Two sandbags and two kettlebells
When I got them over Christmas 2019, I couldn’t close the green gripper(2), now I can! and can almost close the blue gripper (3)
Cheers Tom and Juji. Thank you Travis for touching my grippers. I also received your autograph on the post card, haha
Iv had a bench . curl bars fpr years. After watching you two in 2017 igot a squat rack. Use it once a week on a good week. In the winter I use it more. You guys are deff motivational..
