Ok I want the deleted scenes because I know that he had to take many takes to say that opening without cracking up with the ball remarks. The sloppy balls was enough for me to spit out my drink and choke laughing so hard. On a serious note I want this machine now so that I can have perky balls too. :D ;)
LOL...I was thinking the same thing! No way I could keep a straight face through the first 2 minutes of this.
I have had "sloppy ball" syndrome for years...I am so glad you have brought this condition to light. I can finally admit I have this condition and get the help I so desparately need ... I felt so alone ... tear. ROFLMBO. Seriously I have a winder but had been having a little issue with it and now fixed. Love the label idea. Thanks so much.
High marks for keeping a straight face.
I know I didn't.
I dont think any part of him is straight. Jk.
Am I the only one that would listen to Mikey talk about grass growing all day long and be entertained? ☺
I had a ball watching this video! This is exactly what I needed to learn -- thank you!
I have never liked a demo video more than this one. I learned and laughed, just the way it should be! My winder arrived with no instructions thank you for teaching me.
Thank you for helping me thread and wind my first ball of yarn. The instructions were not that clear but you really save me a lot of frustration. Thanks again.
Couldn't help but smile at Mikey's innuendo comments - perfect - I wish my school teachers Had had a delivery like his. I learned how to use a ball winder and had a giggle too!
I roll a whole skein bcz they don't become knotted as easily. But I thought my yarn winder was broken and almost threw it away. I actually had it in the trash but took it back out thinking my daughter could fix it 😹🤣🤣. Darndest contraption I've ever seen 🤣. Thank God for you and RUclips 🤣🤣. Tyfs God bless you
it makes the yarn more compact and easier to store Cathy@The Crochet Crowd :)
I love my ball winder. I’m the queen of scrap yarn, so this saves me lots of time and grief.
When knitting fuzzy scarves, to give the scarf more body and warmth, I combine a fuzzy strand with a complimentary supersaver yarn using my ball winder. The reason I do that is because I’m knitting with even tension with yarns that have very different weights. Also, I can tell the look of the scarf quite well by looking at the ball.
Thanks for the tip about putting the label in the center. I can’t believe that I’ve been knitting for 40 years and never thought of that.
When I get done winding a ball, I always make sure to have the starter end coming out of the center so it pulls easily instead of goobering up the entire center trying to find it.
Thanks for teaching us how this works. Those yarn cakes look like they'd be easy to store. I love your idea to store the label. You're so clever, Mikey!
Trying to keep a straight face while watching ........who ask me to scroll to the comment section, I’m BALLING. You guys are cheeky!😅
Literallyyyomg
Clear and concise without a lot of extra chatter thank you
Simple and not boring, thank you so much!
of course you had a video about this, I was looking for one and when I saw yours I knew that it was gonna be helpful and funny, I was 100% right
Thanks Mikey, I always know that you will have the answer and demonstration I need. You're a gem!!!
Happy to help!
I too laughed all the way through it, but mine just came in the mail from eBay and I love it!!!
Brilliant I thought I was on the right track. Thank you for your help.
I just got one of these for Christmas!!! I'm so excited
Watching it yarn-up is so relaxing for some reason. I dunno why.
Thank you so much! I just bought one similar to the one in the video and was having some tension trouble. Turns out I wasn’t winding the yarn into the middle of the winder correctly. You saved me from a bunch of headache and swear words lol 🧶 💕
Thanks for the review, you are hee-larious! Reminds me of the SNL skit, "Schweddy's Balls"!!!
Thanks Mikey your method works beautiful. I was about to take it back to Michaels. You saved the day lol.
I never thought of fastening it to a chair; what a great idea!
Excellent for recycling luxurious yarns from seldom-worn or second-hand garments
I’M DYING INSIDE with laughter! Love this!
Thanx. I just bought 1 after searching for years. Thanx for the laugh to.
No one likes loose nuts and sloppy balls. 80 Thank you for sharing your method for making them neat and tidy. Mine will much better from here on out!
Hi Mikie. I love my ball winder, but I did not like the way the yarn started to collapse as you use the yarn, so I came up with the idea to use the cardboard insert from toilet paper. I cut it down the middle to make it snug and tape it , not too tight or you can't get it off the winder. I also at times have to cut it around the top to make it the same size as the winder stem. I take the first string of yarn and put just a little tape onto the paper roller. It works perfect. and as your using the yarn, it will not collapse in the middle as most of the sights that show how to use this, once the yarn is done, they say to start using it from the center. Dosn't make sence as as you go along the ball starts to collapse. Give my suggestion a try and tell me what you think.
Oh i forgot to say that when I use y yarn after balling it up, i start from the outside of the ball, not the center. Works so much better. I found i can sit the yarn on the floor next to where i am sitting and never have to adjust anything as the yarn pulls up without any problems....:) love to watch your video's you make me happy.
Diane Macmillan Super great info Diane...I am just about to purchase a winder and will definitely use this idea...I have had the question of "how does the yarn hold up on these winders" running around in my head for days, and you just came up with the best solution ever...HUGE THANK YOU
doesn't anybody pull the yarn from the center of a yarn ball after making and while using one??? i DO!!
always love your tutorials!! thanks for posting! the part about inserting the label inside the ball at the end was so helpful too! i was originally going to put the ball in a plastic bag with the label, but this will be alot easier and save me on not having to buy a million gallon size bags :-)
Thank you for the video! It was very helpful & now I need to get a yarn winder.
Thank you. I was contemplating getting this as I've always did it by hand. I think after seeing how uncomplicated it is as well as it would be easier to stack my yarns…. thank you for sharing.
Thank you!! This was helpful.
This is so cool, I never thought to purchase one until I watched this,,,,definitely going to get one this weekend!! Thank you so much for the demo!! :)
I definitely need one of these, thanks for demo, I never knew about this gizmo before but I can see why I need it.
Thank you , I needed this
So...where's the blooper reel? You know that this was one of those ones that had multiple takes ;)
Best listening EVER! Your yarn balls are impressive, lol
Turned a frogged item into a nice neat ball. Thanks
Thank you for this tutorial, I’m getting one tomorrow because rolling skein remainders into balls by hand is a literal pain. Also, my “couch” is my bed would a lap table work to clamp the winder on? Update: I got it and love it, $40 well spent, and it clamped to my lap table just fine
Thank you for SLOW motion on putting the yarn on the winder. I felt like a complete idiot because I struggled with this one.
I love it! Thanks for making this so simple 💕
You're so welcome!
You make everything look so easy!!! 🌺🌺🌺
I fell in love with mine right after I got mine
hiya, Mikey. :)
i have the same product, and I dont know if anyone had said this, but you can also put the beginning of the yarn through the loophole of the metal stand. easier for me than to twirl it around from the bottom of it. :) and i agree that THIS IS AN AMAZING TOOL! I even beat that shiny slippery polyester balls into neat and lovely polyester yarn cake.
toodles! :)
Perfect tutorial! Thank you!
i love my winder! i would not be without it!
I laughed way to hard at this video! LOL
This had me CRACKING UP! Thanks for the review Mikey :)
Super tips. Thx for sharing.
the most balls and nuts in a G rated video ever!!! lol
That is really cool now I just have to get one
Great demonstration!
LOL! Very informative video w/ a little Mikey flavor, gotta love it! That was a great tip in re: the label. I have a Bday coming up I'll have to hint hint to the Hub;)) Thanks Mikey!
Thank you!
Awesomeee!!!! I didnt even these things existed lol. I need one asap!!
I had a small problem with it collapsing. I also use a toilet paper tube, and it's great. I also make faux cables with them. Then I add a six-pack ring to DC around; join as a doily ring; and place toilet tube candles in the rings. It's great as an x-mas decor. And safer when you have little ones that may be tempted to "light up" a real candle.
Hahahahaha I am dying at "I don't have sloppy balls" hahaha :D
Omg you’re killing me!🤣🤣 thank you for the awesome tutorial
THanks and it's hard to talk about the winder without innuendo.
Actually people will wind a whole skein of super saver usuallu because they have limited storage space.
It also helps to not have tangles and puking. Also great for making personally selected colorway combinations.
MOUNT your BALL winder with the wing NUT. lmao.
Tip; put a small knot in the end of the yarn, feed it through the loop on the winder, and then put it in the notches. Hey presto, the knot stops the end of the yarn from slipping through the notches and it also makes it easy to find or hold in the middle.
Kia ora from Aotearoa (New Zealand), 😂 I love this video & I also nearly chocked on my cuppa with all the balls descriptions 😂. Anyhu thank you so much for this, I have literally just ordered one & can't wait to use it but I have 1 question, once I've finished can I leave it on the winder? Hope my message finds you & your loved one's well 💌
😂😂 YOU ARE AMAZING!!
You're so calm and insightfull! Thanks a lot for such a well edited video!
Lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve this💖
have been considering buying a ball winder for ages and this video gave me that push I needed, haha! Thanks so much for sharing :)
Great video 👍 gotta buy me one now❤️
I now know what my next purchase will be!
Mine ball winder is identical woks great on 4-ply, but messes up on any finer yarn like baby yarn or "Unforgettable" that is thinner and has a sheen or silkiness to it. Any suggestions? I go through boatloads of baby yarn for charity hats for the hospitals, and loads of Unforgetable for prayer shawls and keepsakes for the elderly. I love the center-pull the ball winder makes.
Sadly, Royal no longer makes this ball winder... and the "just as good" one from Stanwood is NOT NEARLY as good. i wanted one for my wife after watching her wind multiple balls by hand. unfortunately ball winders seem to go from "too cheap and poorly made to own" to $130... with not much in the middle. i'd love to find a high quality plastic one for her that's made in Germany or Switzerland. ::sigh:: Any ideas?
You are so funny Mikey! Love all your videos!
This is great! Thankyou.....
Nice balls
U got me wanting one of these now. Back to joanns I go :)
OMG I couldn't stop laughing at this video!
I want one now!!
Which end of the skein do you pull from (inside or outside?) What holds a large skein while you are rolling it up?
Nice.gonna get one
I really like the winder. Where could I buy it online? Just got rid of my electric one, didn't like the cakes. The one you made looks like the one from a LYS i got last year. Perfect. The electric winder made them really sloppy. Thank you for the video 🤗❤
I love mine wanted to watch you do it because you are so cute!
Excellent! Will it hold an average size skein ?
oh my.....so funny! thanks for that!
LOL!!!!❤I was doing it all wrong, thank you😅
thank you!
Perfect!
Apparently they do not make the royal ball winder anymore? At least everything i'm seeing says that... Do you recommend another brand that is similar?
LOOK on Amazon...
Thank you for this video! I just bought one 2 days ago and made my first ball and it was lose, so this was a good tutorial for me.
Hi, just curious.. at about 3:00 you show us how to get the yarn through the metal loop. Isn’t it just simply pull the beginning of the yarn through the loop like threading a needle?! (Or maybe I get it wrong) :)
So funny! Thanks.
Than you.
His composer of saying balls and wingnuts convinced me to buy the winder🤣🤣🤣
1) because my super savers seem to get messed up when I pull them from the middle or if I have to frog back it gets twisted. 2) could you use an empty toilet paper roll in the middle in lieu of the label?
muito bom! gostei obrigada
Oh gosh I want one
I ordered the same model from Amazon August 26th, it's now Sept 5th and it's still not here. It was supposed to arrive yesterday. I sure wish this thing would arrive, I have a whole bunch of "sloppy" balls" I need to tidy up!
Haha you're so cute and hilarious! Thanks for all your videos:)
U sure hope the one I ordered is as nice :)
Very funny and entertaining! I put a toilet paper roll over it and wind it up on that.
Interesting!
