I'm sure you found it by now but boco, buy once cry once has a servo mount that goes on the axle which adds an extra link instead of just one. Also eliminates pan hard for more articulation! 🤪💯
I'm working on several more motor tests, one I used a 1750kv Tenshock 6-pole motor and the Mamba X esc and it did great, it was slow but it will be a much cheaper option when used with a sidewinder 4 esc so hang on till the end of the week for me to get them up and as always I have links in the description relevant to any video I put up.
New to the crawler hobby here... I don’t understand why you wanted a less torque higher speed motor in a crawler? Aren’t you looking for high torque and low-speed? What am I missing?
With the gear reduction these trucks have a bit less torque doesn’t hurt anything. The motor I used in this has more torque and rpm, brushless is stronger and more efficient.
Like the paint scheme and the cleared windows. I’m new to this and considering getting a Gen 8. I have a question which I hope some one will pick up on, what is the benefit of fitting a gyro in a truck, what does it do? Thanking who ever replies in advance.
The steering Gyro can help keep a truck straight and stable at speed, this Gen8 has one in it and the truck is too slow for it to be of any benefit at all. Pretty much all traxxas vehicles come with gyros now for their fast trucks.
what ford body and where did you get it for the truck that was originally on the bottom left of where you are standing in the beginning of the video where the red truck is at the end of the video?

@@ExocagedRC okay thank you for the response!! I'm really enjoying the truck so far I have a hobbywing 1080 ESC and Holmes Trailmaster 27 turn and it right now but it's extremely slow I wasn't sure if the plastic stuff would hold up to a lower turn motor if I try to add wheel speed. What would you recommend for a good overall brushed motor for it I want to have enough wheel speed to clear out the tires if I get in the mud but I don't want to lose the torque either because my current combo is fantastic for just regular competition crawling but I was thinking about using it in an upcoming TTC
Any drive shaft issues? All the crawlers ive upgraded to brushless sensored motors constantly throw drive shafts, just curious if youve had any issues? Awesome vid by the way liked and subscribed
You've give me great plans for we I reck the stock stuff.I was also wondering what that droneing soud was caused by? Awsome video thanks for doing them.
Just purchased a gen8 and I want to know a cheaper motor I could get to make it faster or get 12t pinion or both maybe but if I go that rout what size shaft is the stock motor so I know what pinion to get
just keep the stock pinion and get a Holmes Hobbies 12t Trailmaster Sport 550 motor. Its a good motor and runs fine on 3s. You are using lipo batteries right?
Two Niner the noise is annoying and I’m switching all my brushes trucks over to the Hobbywing 1080 esc. With that you can change the PWM and make the motor quiet. I have a video on that esc.

yeah it would and with the 2nd gear you'd still have a little wheelspeed. Usually when I gear down that low I use a higher KV motor or volt up so I get the low speed control and keep most of the wheelspeed.
@@ExocagedRC that sounds like a great idea ... I mostly do walking speed trailing and some crawling so I'd like the extra low end grunt . Thank you for the suggestion .
I’ve seen them in action and they are quicker but don’t have the raw torque of the Reef’s 555. The Reef’s is slow due to gearing but that gearing gives it some insane pull. I have a servo test video with the Reef’s in it and that thing went over 900oz!!
Yep it’s more than the truck. With any built truck they always run close to or go way past $1k. As far as this truck goes it doesn’t need any of this to drive well.
Exo, just shut up and tell me where to send my money. Lol that thing is sick and I want to build one just like it. My wife said of I spend anymore money on my TRX 4 than she is going to cut me. She a culinary chick and is good with knives.
I have a GT5 with my Axe edition and love it.
great video! Thank you for show casing your gen8 build, these videos are very helpful and always fun to watch!
Awesome video and great explanation. Bash on 😎😎
Wow that’s loud 😧 love the truck tho
Very sweet upgrades
Awesome video excellent truck with a bunch of wicked upgrades love the performance

Very nice up grades seems fast to me you should get over any thing with all that power 👍🏾 truck looks really good
Thanx for sharing...starting upgrades on mine...gave me some ideas!

So on 12t I’m like it’s still bad ass. Then 17t is radical. I fricken love this thing. Those torquey hops are epic.
Props for the time skip I subbed!

Wicked video Brother, great explanations, job well done.
That sure does sound like the Holmes Hobby Revolver ! What is the motor in that?
Holmes motor, that hum is from the castle esc PWM to the motor. I wish they would quiet them down a bit.

Not sure if Was just your camera that amplified the sound...is it that loud in person? Motor/esc combo
Wow! $115 for just the servo. Gonna be a bad ass rig
lol yeah but high end parts cost high end money, kinda like the old saying you get what you pay for.
Are you still using all the plastic axle housing pieces?
Not yet but I have plans for them
I was wondering how strong the plastic was.
I have just the link tabs and most of the front knuckles. I replaced with aluminum due to breaking the arms on the knuckles.

Awesome! Truck looks killer, I see you even got the chrome grille too! Like and Sub!
Real nice

no driveshaft issues at all, with the 6.18-1 axle ratio they don't get the high torque loads like trucks with normal axles get.
thank you for subscribing

Thats the frequency the esc operates the motor at, if you think that was loud wait till you see the one I'm editing with the Holmes Revolver motor.
J'adore !
And the ringing sound I’m guessing is the mamba?
Yeah the drive frequency

thatnx alot this was very informative! I'm going to guess you swapped the trans and t-case gears or was that somehow not necessary?
Hi buddy I have the same motor and esc for my trx4 bronco what pinon gear should I use and should I keep the stock spear gear
Well if you're putting it in the Gen 8 you can see both a 12 and a 17t in action, if you're asking about the TRX then I'd run stock 11t in that.
@@ExocagedRC wouldn't a 9t pinion (on trx4 ) give it a little more torque ?

What was the total bill of the upgrades?
About $3.50
So is the redcat gen 8 worth buying?
Yes
Yes
Yes
Yep.
Great mods bro
Very nice the motor is quiet as a church mouse............... 8^)
So is it safe to say that all these upgrades cost the same or more than the truck did stock?
The servo is about $120 I believe. The Mamba X is about $150. The motor is $100 I believe.

NC MOUNTAINS ❤... Ya. 👍..
Have you drove through water if so homw deep
I try to avoid it except for certain things.
Can you do a video on how to change out a motor step by step
In the video previous to this one with the mods I show that
Well actually it’s this video. There isn’t much to it all the info is there.
Building my boss man I Redcat 8 with a 3200 hobbywing...😈
Niceeee
I still wish I could afford a Gen 8.... Even the Gen 8 Pack. 😞
Should try out a fatboy rc servo...
Do they have their own or just another rebrand?
Do you have an email address I wanted to send you a picture of something that I made for my gen 8.

ooof that torque twist is horrible! holy shit!
LoL this one isn’t so bad compared to a few others I have. I do have plans to fit a rear swaybar in it in the future.
Really cool vid. That servo connector is really cool. Surprised i wasn't already subbed, but would subb trade ya. Great vid!
thanks and sure
The Sound of the brushless setup is annoying. I'll stick with Non brushless
Well that’s the first time I’ve ever heard of non brushless. I have a test with the Hobbywing Axe system as well and it’s totally silent.
Its a crawler not a short course truck. The money u spent on upgrades u should have spent on a short course truck
I have an sct
