Boba Fett is the best of all bounty hunters! I think I should dare to try the slave I. Thank you for the kit presentation! Very worth seeing result! Really nice music at the end of the video! Greetings, John
Looks a great result which is good enough to be used as a film prop. I’ve built the AT-AT but not painted it yet as I’m still trying to decide whether to model it walking or crashed in the snow 🤔. I also have the perfect grade millennium falcon to build sometime and as you pointed out are great kits.
Nice ! Came out looking epic ! Love the weathering! Also that Tamiya glue is the best for when glue is needed.. I use the Tamiya extra thin cement with amazing results. I may give this kit a go.
Yes - I've got most of the (non-droid) Star Wars kits. Off the top of my head, B, X, and Y wings, AT-ST, Boba Fett, and several Stormtrooper variations.
@@ModelNerd Sweet ! Can't wait! I have Bandai San Diago Comic Con exclusive B-Wing *but* I want to get better with weathering techniques before I paint it because it was limited & I want it looking convincingly battle worn like your Slave I. The chipped paint effects is what worries me
Another superb build, thanks, I wish Bandai would kit this in their miniature series, would love to add it to my collection. With regards to the hairspray, does wetting down the paint prior to chipping it cause any problems? Or does it just dry naturally?
Hi so this will be my first model kit, the painting work frightens me, any advice for a newbie? And if you could recommend any kind of starter kit with brushes, paint for this one? Thanks a lot!
I think this could be great as a starter kit. The fit is excellent. You don't have to paint it as the plastic is coloured, but if you want to then I'd recomnend: a primer coat (e.g. Tamiya grey rattle can). Then I really like Vallejo Model Colour for brush painting. They go down really well over primer and can be thinned (and brushes cleaned) with a bit of water. Good luck and let me know how you get on!
Acrylics all the way :) Base layer of acrylics, a protective varnish coat. Hairspray, then acrylics to be chipped back. I'm not sure you can use enamels for chipping as the paint has to be water soluble so the water can get through to the hairspray below and cause it to lift.
Hello. Will this kit still look good if I just use the decals provided in the kit, no custom paintjob? Also is there a stand provided in the kit? Do the cannons and wings articulate?
Hi. Yes, the kit comes with a stand. I can't remember about the articulation I'm afraid, and my model is packed away so I can't check it, sorry. I think you can make it look good without the decals, yes.
I've never tried a bandai kit.....maybe give one a go some time. Thanks for showing us how easily the kit comes together and describing the process. Your channel never fails to provide insight into this hobby....thank you!
Hey bud great job thank you for this video. I just got this kit recently but before i start i just wanted to check a couple of things. As the plastic parts are already coloured did you prime them first or just go straight to paiting them? Also did you paint in acrylic? Sorry im still faily new to the hobby so not that clued up yet. Thank you appreciate your help!
Hi Dan, thanks for your comment. The plastic parts were already coloured - however, I painted them anyway as that gives a better finish. They were painted with Tamiya acrylics.
@@ModelNerd that's great thank you, did you use primer or no need? I was planning on using the hairspray technique but I don't have an airbrush, would it work just using normal brush painting? Cheers again appreciate it!
I can't remember if I used primer on this or not (I'll say in the video if I did). I'm not sure about brush painting with hairspray chipping but I suspect it might not work because it relies a lot on the thinner airbrushed layers of paint.
It's a nice kit. I've also got one of the X-wings in the stash. I'd quite like to do a Dagobah sinking x-wing diorama but I can't quite bring myself to submerge the model in resin water.
Would anyone who has this model please tell me the dimensions of the final assembly? I need it to fit a specific space, so the height when it is on the stand and the size of the base is especially crucial. Thank you!
Each person has this way of doing their job, as long as you are satisfied with the result, I find your slave one magnificent;) Well, it's my turn to work on mine.^_^
They're great kits. In the Star Wars kits you can actually make out the model kit parts that the original builders used when creating the models for the films (if you see what I mean).
Found this video on my recommend page, it's nice to see people talk about bandai other than gunpla
Thanks for watching mate. I have a few more Bandai kits (X-wing, B-Wing, speeder bike, Boba Fett) that I will be building in the future.
@@ModelNerd would you like trying out some gunpla too in the future?
To be honest I'm not really a fan of gunpla - it just doesn't 'grab' me.
@@ModelNerd understandable

Thanks John. I have the 1/12 Boba Fett kit as well - though I'm considering building it as the Mandalorian.
*Snap, snap, snap ... paint ... snap, snap, snap ... paint, so simple in fact, nicely done! 😍🤩*
Thanks. Yes, the snap-together engineering is incredible.
Try the R2-D2 and R5-D4 kit. I did that one a couple of months ago and it was great.
Good to hear. I do have that in the stash, so it's definitely on the list.
Looks really good
Thanks Tristan
Awesome video! Thanks for the heads up about the optional posing.
Thanks mate - I'm glad you found it helpful.
Great work at this ship from Star Wars .
I like very much how you work at this Bandai kit .Great montage and painting , excelent job !🏆🥇👍
Thanks a lot!

The 1/72 Falcon? Nice! I've done the 1/144 version but I've heard the PG version is something else.
I love the Slave 1 and this model looks great! Keep up the good videos!
Cheers mate, I will try!
Looks just like Slave 1 from the movies. Great job.
Thanks mate - glad you liked it.
nice review. I tent to spin a philips screw on the peg holes before I do test fits for easy disassembly :D
Thanks mate
Very nice and it has a realistic look
Thanks Nicole - glad you liked it.

Thanks mate, I'm glad you liked it. I like Tamiya extra thin but I can't stand the smell!
@@ModelNerd it can be pretty potent but the little brush applicators are genius & a tiny drop goes a long way. Do you plan on doing more Star Wars ?

I like your choice of music - The God Of War. By the way, GREAT video!!! Great model!!!
Thanks mate. I read that John Williams was influenced by that music, and I can see how.
Another superb build, thanks, I wish Bandai would kit this in their miniature series, would love to add it to my collection.
With regards to the hairspray, does wetting down the paint prior to chipping it cause any problems? Or does it just dry naturally?
Hi Bill. I don't think it causes any harm - the paint just dries naturally. Although if you wet it too much you can cause tide marks.
Ace mate 😁👌
Thank you Tim

Outstanding video, thank you for sharing. What is the overall size once completed. Thank you.
Thanks mate. It's about 20cm long when finished.
Superb work
Thank you James
Thanks for this. I was wondering how to do this without airbrushes.
Glad you enjoyed it
I use Tamiya spray cans instead of an airbrush and I have no problems.
Nice job.
Thanks mate
@@ModelNerd no worries
Turned out nice. Did that standing figure come in your kit?
Yep, it sure did. Then again, I bought the kit in Asia - I think licensing issues mean they aren't included in European kits?
Nice work! What's that green putty you used on the sticks to hold the parts so you could paint and handle the parts without touching them?
Thanks. The putty is just BluTack.
Hello✨ Great work 👍
Thank you! Cheers!

Cheers mate, I really appreciate that.
I built bandi gundams and its insaly rare youl ever need glue for anyhting there all colord parts snap in place but the details on them are awsome :)
Where did you get the paint for this? Having trouble finding some
Most of this was painted with regular Tamiya acrylics
paints are included, do you need to buy?
Most kits don't include paint (or glue), so you need to buy separately. However some kits (like this one) are snap together and don't require glue.
Excellent done! Ist that little Han Solo in carbonite part of the kit?
Thanks Modelorian (great name!). Yes, the carbonite Han is included.
@@ModelNerd Thank you very much... You have a great channel btw... Great selection of models.

I don't have it handy to check at the moment. Maybe you could look up the size of the "real" ship and then divide that by 144 to get the model size?
My kit did not come with a detailed standing Bobba Fet. Did you print your own figure?
Mine came with the kit. I think there are licensing issues in some countries maybe?
@@ModelNerd I think so, are you in the US?
No, I'm generally in the UK but currently in Asia . Easy access to cheap model kits :)

Bougt the Hasbro Vintage Collection
Why Boba Fett hasn't been cancelled for his stance on slavery is beyond me.
Haha, right?
Its still a better name than "Flicker Fyler"
Why can’t you just use nuln oil to fill in paneling?
You can. I just don't have any and the panel liner works just as well I think.
I have never tried bandi

A waste of what?
