Star Wars Super Star Destroyer in 1:100,000 scale! (Bandai model kit)

  • The Bandai Super Star Destroyer from the Star Wars universe must be one of the smallest kits I have ever built and at 1/100,000 it must also be one of the smallest scale kits available. The Super Star Destroyers were the largest ships created by the Galactic Empire and used by the Imperial forces to exert control across star systems.
    This is a quick build, paintings, and weathering video showing the snap together kit. Weathering is kept to a minimum, with a simple acrylic paint wash and some dry brushing applied. As I've come to expect from Bandai, both the fit and the detailing are excellent.

    If this ship was real it would literally fill the sky. I have one of Bandai’s AT-AT’s which went together perfectly and just requires painting. They are certainly awesome kits and as you pointed out so full of detail.

      Definitely! There are some quite entertaining videos on RUclips about how much time, energy, and material would be required to build things like the Star Destroyers and the Death Star.

    1/100,000 scale, I've never heard of such an extreme scale, but of course it'd have to be based on the size of the " real" Starship Excellent build out, painting the inside of the engine was a very nice touch. With all the new paint formulas I will occasionally run a test paint strip on the inside surface to judge compatibility . Looking forward to your 2023 videos. Happy New Year, Cheers.

    How much water and Vallejo did you use to thin it out in the consistancy shown in the video? Also was it black Vallejo acrylic paint did you use?

    Try somewhere like hobby link Japan for Bandai kits, you'll get them at the Japanese market price and if you're under £135 total including postage, you'll avoid import duty.
    Bandai are god tier for detail and mechanical engineering that goes into their kits. As for thinner interacting with their plastic, it's because its ABS, so just use ABS friendly thinners.

    Revell seems to have done a deal with Bandai as some of these smaller "mecha scale" models are appearing with a Revell logo on the box side although they are still hard to find and Ebay seems to be the best source.
    Its a shame as many of Revells own releases were awful. Their pre-coloured smaller kits were not that bad but the larger kits - also pre coloured - were just clip together toys with none of the fine molded detail of the Bandai kits. Just compare the Bandai and Revell 1/72 Millennium Falcon kits. Granted the price tag of the Bandai was high but it was worth it.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  10 месяцев назад

      Yes, the Bandai kits are great. I have the Revell Razorcrest kit and it looks OK - but Revell also do things in annoying scales (e.g. 1/9 for the Mandalorian figure, when all the Bandai ones are in 1/12)
