They had a great but quiet turn around this year, I don't feel like they got the recognition they deserved for what they did this year. I feel like their offense got a good bit better when they got Hilinski out of the lineup. He never showed the ability to effectively run the offense at S. Carolina but not all of it was his fault, he was playing behind a lousy O-line and ended up getting injured and don't think ever mentally recovered and was a fringe SEC starter anyway imo. Also on turn-arounds, one I witnessed first hand was the 2000 South Carolina team coached by Lou Holtz. They finished 8-4 and had the one of the biggest ever jumps as the 1999 team finished 0-11 and only scored 87 points all season including a 21 point "outburst" against clemson. The opening game in 2000 was a 31-0 win against New Mexico State and ended up with the fans tearing down the goal posts. The win broke a 21-game losing streak as the 1998 team won it's first game then lost the last 10.
