Starting the movie with him praying and caring for his pregnant wife. Something you won't see in any Hollywood movie. In a standard Hollywood movie or tv show he'd go out and do something terrible. It also never was heavy handed or had a SJW flavour. It merely showed a muslim waking up, doing his morning routine, which had prayer in it and he headed out to play his part in the story. This is also a great example of how you could do ''diversity'' in Western movies. Instead of hammering down an SJW message. Like making a badass movie with a female lead character. You don't need to keep hammering down that she's a female, strong and powerful and independent. You can just show that. Something this movie did. It merely showcased a lead character that tried to get out of an impossible situation by being a badass.
@@nokale0354 YES. thank you! the best way to make 'diversity' a thing, especially in entertainment industry is to normalize it. I'm so glad The Raid got the fame it deserved. I'm annoyed at so many tv series and movies these past few years because of how they 'spoon feed' the audience by being 'woke'. you can't do that. it only makes people annoyed. I mean, look at how Birds of Prey does. it's a giant flop.
@@wienzard93 Exactly! Movies like Birds of Prey make you eyeroll. Characters like Felicity on Arrow are incredibly annoying. They're the forced type of ''girlpower''. Meanwhile I loved the crap out of Sarah Connor in T2 and Ripley in the Alien movies. They weren't forced, they were just women that went through some shit and came out stronger out of it. Sarah Connor in T1 was a frail woman on the run. In T2 she naturally turned into a badass after going through shit and having to survive, she had to adapt to the craziness in her life. It feels more organic like that. Nowadays we just get female characters thrown in our faces that for some reason can throw men around that are 4 sizes bigger than them. Sarah Connor didn't do that, she'd just aim her shotgun on a Terminator. I don't think many people hate those badass female characters while a lot of ''us'' can't stand many modern day ''woke'' characters. Here's how to write a strong female character: give her strengths and weaknesses, don't make her perfect, nobody is. Male characters that are perfect are also boring. Except when a movie or tv show uses that ''being perfect'' as somekind of ironic plotpoint to make a point or whatever. Weird example: a Johnny Bravo thought he was perfect, super handsome etc. But he failed in every episode and his behavior clearly wasn't the right behavior. He thinks he's perfect, but nobody else does. This is how they write female characters nowdays on shows like Arrow: Felicity is praised by everyone, she's perfect, does dumb shit, doesn't get much consequences for it. Girlpower! It would be more interesting if she had to face her demons.
Still better than 80-90 percent of Hollywood action movies today. In terms of recent Hollywood movies, the John Wick movies, Shang-Chi, and Everything Everywhere All At Once are exceptions (I may be missing a few, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head). Action wise, the bar’s been set so high that if you don’t impress your audience like these action/martial arts movies do, your audience’s gonna be left disappointed.
And extraction and there was a movie staring Micheal Jordan that was really well choreographed and The Nobody was also beautifully planned fighting wise

Actually, in that scene the where the dirty cop tried to kill himself with the revolver, the gun was empty. He fired four shots upstairs, fired 1 shot at Iko Uwais, and killed the guy with the final bullet.
Happy you guys got to check out this classic!! Love The Raid. It defined martial arts with those violent, gory actions sequences. I hope you all can react to The Raid 2 and then The Night Comes for Us.
I'm SO glad this got at least a small theatrical release. I saw this trailer, I had to see in in theaters back in the day. Nice to see a good majority of the people involved in this as the primaries are doing everything from Star Wars to Warrior to John Wick.
Iko Uwais as RAMA, He is best known for starring film in The Raid 1 & 2, Mile 22, Star Wars, The Night Comes for Us, Stuber, Wu Assasins, and soon Snake Eyes 2020 Joe Taslim as Jaka, He is best known for starring film in The Raid 1, Fast & Furious 6, The Night Comes for Us, Star Trek Beyond and soon Mortal Kombat 2021 Yayan Ruhian as Mad Dog, He is best known for starring film in The Raid 1 & 2, Star Wars, Beyond Skyline, John Wick 3
FUN FACT: The music scoring was done by Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park They actually wrote The Raid 2 first, but they didn't have enough budget so they make The Raid so that they could gain more money from it Rama (Iko Uwais) is actually an athlete of that kind of martial art ( called Pencak Silat) The extras are actually people who knows martial art, that is why they look so real (Because some are real hits)

The lead that plays the character Jaka is in a dope movie called Headshot and the other guy that was leading the squad that was killed by MadDog is in a movie distributed by netflix called 'The Night Comes For Us". both movies very intense, bloody, and visceral martial arts action thrillers.

Hopefully Indonesian films can provide entertainment and experience for those who watch it. Greetings from Indonesia 🇲🇨.
The Raid 2 is one of my all time favourite action movies. The action and stunts are amazing (that last fight sequence is like a goddamn PPV fight) and the story is like an epic mafia crime drama (it’s not the best, but for a straight up action movie, it’s damn great). Hope you guys watch it!!!
Hello guy fan here first I saw this movie in the theater twice when it came out You guys need to watch The Raid 2. It's a longer movie. It's about to two and a half hours, but it continues the story and moves the story more. I mean, you also need to watch Merantau That's actually the first movie directed by Gareth Evans the director of the Raid Redemption in The Raid 2. Then you need to watch headshot. And the Night Comes for us. The Night Comes for us both are Netflix. All of them are martial arts movies. Following the guys from the raid the guy who played the main character in The Raid and mad dog. Have a very good. Good fight scene in an elevator in Merantau
You guys should watch corridor crew's stuntmen react series they really go in depth about different stunts from action movies and how they do them. Specifically with the death by doorway scene they figure figure out how they did that.
That guy who played sergeant Jaka who got killed in 1 vs 1 against Mad Dog, he was one of the villains in Fast and Furious 6, he fought Han and Roman ( Tyrese Gibson) in the subway station
9:59 I'm telling you, when I saw this in the theater, there was probably only 20 people max but when this scene happened, it felt like it was a full house with how loud the gasp was.
So good .. glad you have finally watched it !! You don’t get much fleshing out but you atleast care about the main character in Rama however the action is the true highlight . CG spectacle doesn’t do much for me nowadays so I have come to really appreciate hand to hand and this is some of the best out there!!.
I hv to thank Gareth Evans..like he made a freakin' action movie in my home country starring Indonesian actors!!!🥺 IKo and Mad dog and Joe Taslim--insane in the membrane..so proud of them and so thankful to Gareth for making these movies🌟
you guys didn't notice the guy with Judo style (Sergeant Jaka) and Mad-dog twist his head (killed by Mad-dog). Is Jah from Fast & Furious 6, also Manas from Star Trek Beyond, and soon become Sub-Zero on MK-2021. don't forget to watch "The RAID 2" and "The Night Comes For Us" that movies are badass too
You must watch The RAID 2 and another indonesian Martial Art movie, "The night comes for us". Actualy The night comes for us is The Best martial art movie ever. Trust me
The Raid/Dredd comparison is an interesting "chicken or the egg" scenario. Alex Garland is one of the sharpest, most intelligent screenwriters of the modern era. He doesn't need to rip off anyone. While The Raid came out first, it's known that his script for Dredd had been available for all to read online for quite some time prior while the film was stuck in development hell forever. At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter because it's a fairly basic concept that's been around at least as long as Kung Fu Master on the Atari 2600 . . . but it's funny watching people argue over which came first when the bottom line is they're both great films you can enjoy. Raid 2 is better than Raid 1 by the way, for my money.
I 'm always slightly annoyed every time someone says "They copied X" in either direction. As you said, its one of the most simple concepts ever (Game of Death anyone?) but the differences are the characters and the style. Here the cops are outnumbered and overpowered, but in Dredd, these are Judges, and they're on a whole other level.
Hope you guys to the second one next! It's easy to think that the first one can't be topped, but it definitely tops it big time. Especially story wise.
@@enriqueroque3634 no. Unfortunately, I don't own the rights to Nightwing so I have to either make it as a fan film or convince James Gunn to make it. Cool that you guys watched this. It's suuuuuuuch a great action movie with incredible fights. Like a lot of the other commenters have said, I hope you guys watch Raid 2 as well. And yeah, Dredd is really cool too, with a very similar premise but with much more guns.

That old man officer is taking a bribe from those nacrotic gang for a long time he gave them most intel and request a SWAT team with a weak experience just to fullfil the narcotics gang needs The end part is the old man know the truth from the building owner that the real villain aren't they it's the high rank officer who taking a bribe as a prize and the old man feels betrayed and he can't live like this anymore so he decide to shot himself luckily that revolver is empty and Rama take him to court in the end

19:20 Because it's a revolver the bullet casings were still in the cylinder. But if you had counted all the shots previous (which i did on my next viewing) all 6 were fired.
Problem is, that's a nickel-plated Smith & Wesson 327 2.5" snubnose barrel. It's an N-frame and holds 8 cartridges, not 6. I know a guy who uses that as his concealed carry gun specifically because of the 8-round capacity.

Such a good movie. They better watch the second one soon!
The Raid 2 Masterpiece
Every vlogger that I've seen that have been go to Indonesia said that the people are so nice. Imagine that all those nice people are actually badass like them on the movie.. 😎
@Lol Maybe yes, I agree.. Or.. Maybe every Indonesian are like the ending of "Shaolin Soccer", where everyone can do Indonesian's Kung Fu (silat), but hide there silat's experience behind nice smile and small talk.. 😏
@@pikomonde3933 but not every indonesian learn this. Like.. not every people but every school from middle school untill college has this silat club. I'm not join as a permanent member bcs it was really though. Even for newbie. We have to practice under the hot sun and we have to barefoot while practice it. For built your mental to be strong so yeah..
After you watch Raid 2. go to Netflix type in Iko Uwais and watch his three movies that star him- HeadShot, Triple Threat & The Night Comes For Us
I'm so happy this movie changed all the actors life, Iko Uwais from cellular's seller now played in The Expendable 4, Joe Taslim, a former judo athlete from Indonesia now played as Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat, Om Rei, an actor now played in MCU Falcon and Winter Soldier and Yayan Ruhian, Pencak Silat trainer now played in John Wick 3 with another Pencak Silat's trainer, Kang Cecep
Man, I hope some day to see The Raid 2 pop up on the channel! Or at least on a vote! The fight scenes are incredible.
I think it’s on patreon, i don’t see why they wouldn’t watch it
Without doubt, in my top 3 action movies of all time. Such a great film.
What are the other two?
Iko Uwais as RAMA, He is best known for starring film in The Raid 1 & 2, Mile 22, Star Wars, The Night Comes for Us, Stuber, Wu Assasins, and soon Snake Eyes 2020
Joe Taslim as Jaka, He is best known for starring film in The Raid 1, Fast & Furious 6, The Night Comes for Us, Star Trek Beyond and soon Mortal Kombat 2021
Yayan Ruhian as Mad Dog, He is best known for starring film in The Raid 1 & 2, Star Wars, Beyond Skyline, John Wick 3
Your reaction to mad dog being killed was exactly the same as my reaction when I watched this with my friends for the first time
The first and second movie are amazing, although the second one felt a little too choreographed for my taste. But glad you finally watched this.
Second had a better story tho
FUN FACT:
The music scoring was done by Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park
They actually wrote The Raid 2 first, but they didn't have enough budget so they make The Raid so that they could gain more money from it
Rama (Iko Uwais) is actually an athlete of that kind of martial art ( called Pencak Silat)
The extras are actually people who knows martial art, that is why they look so real (Because some are real hits)
7:52 That was the first movie to have that badass scene!!! After this movie i saw the same move to a lot of Hollywood movies and tv series...
Yea. After the raid (and raid 2), the best western action movies got the same ambience/tone. Brutal, realistic and hardcore.
Agree. The Raid has been set the standard of action movies over decades
It's open up the door to step up upper level.
After seeing this reaction, you guys have to REALLY watch the sequel now. Can't wait
Hell yes! My favorite is The Raid 2... you’ll most definitely have some reactions to that one.
Best action movie ever. The second one is really good too. Hardcore Henry is one of my favorites too, watch that, first person action movie
Ryan L the night comes for us is dope.
the first shown Special Ops member named Joe Taslim
he starred in Fast n Furios 6 remember the subway fight scene.
#funfact the actor who played as the drug lord, ray sahetapy actually made an appearance on "Captain America: Civil War" but the scene was deleted u can watch it on youtube
The Raid movies set the standard for action movies.
Facts
The raid, Jason Bourne, and John Wick have all revolutioned the action genre

Oooooo Dredd would be a fantastic movie to react to.
9:57, beautifully thought out move, as they have to make the decision to break the door in order for it to even be a possibility. Such a simple yet obscure thing to think of.
Mike Shinoda and joe Han from Linkin park did the soundtrack ✌🏼
I remember when I first heard about the raid had no clue about anyting and what I was about to get into after watching this movie OMG insane and part 2 was just as insane
YES! One of my favourite movies. You need to watch second one too, it's even better.
You guys gotta check out the second movie as well as the other films these actors are in. The lead that plays the character Jaka is in a dope movie called Headshot and the other guy that was leading the squad that was killed by MadDog is in a movie distributed by netflix called 'The Night Comes For Us". both movies very intense, bloody, and visceral martial arts action thrillers.
OMG guys! Where have u been?! Do The Raid 2 Berandal, I never thought that they can surpass the first, but they did!
I thumbed up this video before watching it, just on the strength of you watching this film and already knowing how good it is.
Can't wait to see you all love this film.
I'm buckled in, let's goooooooooooooo!
This was one of my favorite movies! I was lucky enough to catch it in theaters and it was amazing!
Hi, thank you for making a video reaction to the raid movie. I can assume from your expressions that when you watch it you feel tension as if you are in the film, this film is one of the best Indonesian action films that uses authentic Indonesian martial arts techniques namely silat in it.
The Raid, Dredd, and Fury Road, the perfect action movie marathon
You guys should watch corridor crew's stuntmen react series they really go in depth about different stunts from action movies and how they do them. Specifically with the death by doorway scene they figure figure out how they did that.
Eric with the DBZA reference
"Push ups, sit ups, and plenty of juice"
Love you Eric
Nice reaction and review. I love you got several info about the movie first before watching it.
The Raid Redemption = path for Joe Taslim, Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhiyan, Uwais Team goes to Hollywood... Thank you for Gareth Evans and Team
That guy who played sergeant Jaka who got killed in 1 vs 1 against Mad Dog, he was one of the villains in Fast and Furious 6, he fought Han and Roman ( Tyrese Gibson) in the subway station
These guys need to react to Ong Bak and The Protector at some point. Throw in Chocolate, too.
Loved chocolate, i haven't watched it in a long time.
9:59 I'm telling you, when I saw this in the theater, there was probably only 20 people max but when this scene happened, it felt like it was a full house with how loud the gasp was.
yeah i saw that in the theater yesterday also
@@nowheretorun9555 Wow, you did? Good for you, hope you had a good experience as we did.
So good .. glad you have finally watched it !!
You don’t get much fleshing out but you atleast care about the main character in Rama however the action is the true highlight .
CG spectacle doesn’t do much for me nowadays so I have come to really appreciate hand to hand and this is some of the best out there!!.
I hv to thank Gareth Evans..like he made a freakin' action movie in my home country starring Indonesian actors!!!🥺 IKo and Mad dog and Joe Taslim--insane in the membrane..so proud of them and so thankful to Gareth for making these movies🌟
while this is largely an Indonesian film, the director is actually Welsh.
Yeah but he resides in Indonesia and is married to an Indonesian.
still the silat belong to indonesian and those choreography

the guy with Judo style (Sergeant Jaka) and Mad-dog twist his head (killed by Mad-dog). Is Jah from Fast & Furious 6, also Manas from Star Trek Beyond, and soon become Sub-Zero on MK-2021.
don't forget to watch "The RAID 2" and "The Night Comes For Us"
that movies are badass too
You must watch The RAID 2 and another indonesian Martial Art movie, "The night comes for us". Actualy The night comes for us is The Best martial art movie ever. Trust me
"Dagu, Dagu is a good man" Dagu immediately gets shot
"Dagu was a good man"
The Raid/Dredd comparison is an interesting "chicken or the egg" scenario.
9:58 The Legendary Five Reactions
Eric: the fan
Shane: the disgusted
Rick: the smiler
Calvin: the dark lord
Aaron: the shocked
If I remember correctly that Mad Dog guy was also the choreographer for the fight scenes 😁
The action in this movie is inspiring the combat in a Nightwing film that I am currently working on.
Is the movie out?
@@enriqueroque3634 no. Unfortunately, I don't own the rights to Nightwing so I have to either make it as a fan film or convince James Gunn to make it. That being said, I am still writing the scripts for a trilogy of movies ending with Batman Beyond, even if I never end up selling them. Its a small chance, but maybe you'll get to see them someday.
Cool that you guys watched this. It's suuuuuuuch a great action movie with incredible fights.
Like a lot of the other commenters have said, I hope you guys watch Raid 2 as well.
And yeah, Dredd is really cool too, with a very similar premise but with much more guns.
This is the first Indonesian film I’ve watched and I loved it.
Merantau be like :hahahah first?
The night come for us
The soundtrack for this movie was made by Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park. Here 4:30 it sounds very much like Session from the Meteora album.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG.
I'm so late but I love watching people react to raid both movies are just a masterpiece
the raid should've got an oscar that year. Not gonna lie
This movie and The Night Comes For Us are the defining reasons why Joe Taslim (the cop killed by Mad Dog) was the perfect choice for Sub Zero in the new Mortal Kombat movie coming out
The fighting style was adopted from Silat
I didnt know it could be that aggressive
19:15 if you guys watch a whole movie cleary he use
1 bullet to kill a grabbed man
2 bullet on 2 runner
1 bullet on his partner
1-2 bullet to scare Rama off
Last bullet to execute the building owner
18:27 they both are brother ,Rama is officer but his older brother left from home for long time and they luckily found each other in this building but he work for this building owner as a left hand guy who wise and place defensive equipment in this building such as camera and quick microphone
8:31 the way he stab the wall because this whole building belongs to these nacrotic gang, and they know the plan of original room which is larger than this room( this wall looks fishy to them but they can't find the entrace to it)
And the main cause that most assault team are wiped out because of nost of them are rookies as the old guy told to the assault tem leader in the first part.
That old man officer is taking a bribe from those nacrotic gang for a long time he gave them most intel and request a SWAT team with a weak experience just to fullfil the narcotics gang needs
The end part is the old man know the truth from the building owner that the real villain aren't they it's the high rank officer who taking a bribe as a prize and the old man feels betrayed and he can't live like this anymore so he decide to shot himself luckily that revolver is empty and Rama take him to court in the end
Raid 2 hype.
the guy who plays mad dog was the choreographer, but he was so good they couldnt find anyone better to put in the movie.
9:00 HAHAHAH that sudden Lion King's song got me lmao
One of the coolest things is the way the Raid 2 picks up about 20-30 minutes after the end of the first.
React to "The Night Comes For Us" Last scene was the best fight scene i ever saw. Also the raid 2 was awesome. John wick was inspired by these movies btw
I know a guy who uses that as his concealed carry gun specifically because of the 8-round capacity.
should see the 2nd one is even better
so glad you guys finally watched this.....part 2 is a must watch
14:58 If you have played Uncharted 4 remember the 2 on 1 fight with Nathen and Sam Vs Nadine.
And here I am, still waiting for the reaction to The Raid 2
Im still waiting for the raid 2 reaction
The Raid put Indonesia on the movie map, just right after this... Indonesian actors internationally got looked by the Hollywood.
