Thanks Michael great video! Could you please make a video of three violins showing the dark, middle and bright tonalities!! I hear these terms used a lot in various videos but really don't hear and difference. Thanks again! BTW I own a Fiddlerman Concert that I would assess as having a loud, piercing sound!!

Another very good video. I've been using the Zyex strings often on violins in the advanced student range with good results. Their warmth resembles the Pirastro Obligato set, albeit not quite showing the same dexterity and depth (they're cheaper, too).

Any comparison videos of just Guaneri del Gesus Violin pattern models? I have heard that D'addario Zyex are good strings.

I do not, my ears are very sensitive to sparkly and shrieking highs. I love these strings even though the E is very damped. Might mix and match some strings

Would you recommend Playing the Zyex set with a Helicore E to fix that muddiness problem you mentioned? I hear that's a thing. I think Lindsey Stirling does that.

I love Zyex on my 125-year old American Star for G, E, and A but use a Goldbrokat E. Sounds very balanced with warm lowers and a sweet, clean E/ BONUS: Goldbrokats are inexpensive. :-D

I put this on my strobel ML105 made in 2008 bought in 2017, tried them out for 2 weeks so far I like the dominant much better. Ill say Zyex are good but dominant string is more balance.

I have finally settled with buying single strings, I like the zyex and I like dominants so now I just mix and match synethics except my E string. IMO the fiddlerman synthetic strings break way to fast I went through 2 sets in 3 months. Stil want to try some caplin just to see what I think, a video would be great on some caplins?

Hi Thor! Sorry to hear about the strings breaking. May I ask where they break? We would be happy to send you another set. Please email me at asa@fiddlershop.com, so we can help you out. Here is video regarding Kaplan strings btw: ruclips.net/video/IxZkevXFZuk/видео.html

Gibbles, please tell us how do they ever come up with string names?

  • @binarymilton

Interesting. I've never found these strings especially warm. Full, yes. Certainly not thin. But not warm - they are zingy, brassy strings with a lot of projection and lots of overtones and harmonics.

What's up with that E-string . ey 😂 So many people are really picky about the sound of E! Some entirely hate violins because of it

I have had these strings in My Violin 10 days. They settled on day 7. Their is a nasty hiss on the E string, I do not like it at all. The other 3 strings, are Wonderful! I like them better that, Pirastro, Chromacor. I paid $68 on 3-13-19
