      The seal was 40 years old and dry rotted/very brittle. But check ebay bro you will find a set of reproductions for cheap.

    Good to know that they can be swapped over. I picked up a used right rear door to replace my damaged one, but it had fixed windows and was looking to see and know how it can be done or not. Answers the question be done !
    It would have been nice to have the camera view change to see what, where and how things were being done. Some more verbal comments while your doing the conversation would have been good too.
    Question, does just drilling and screwing the hardware into the sheet metal seem strong enough?. From what I recall, the factory doors had some extra metal and/or threaded metal to strengthen the window mounting.?
    Thanks.

    • @ricksteelcustoms3196
      @ricksteelcustoms3196  Год назад

      I have not had any issues with the windows. If you feel that it might not be strong enough with the screws then use a rivet gun and install rivets instead of the or along with the screws just drill a few more holes for the rivets.
      And also I drilled the holes much smaller than the screws, so they installed tight.
      But adding 2 or 3 rivets along with the screws and that window is not going anywhere.
      Thanks for watching. And yes sorry for the bad viewing angle the van was not running at the time and was backed right up against the fence in my back yard.

    I want to convert the fixed rear door windows on my 2019 GMC 2500 Savana. Everywhere I looked so far says that there are no gaskets or seals available for this conversion. Seems incredible that you cannot order the parts from GMC or the aftermarket. Anyone have a link to where I can find a solution?

    I bought the same van same year n the previous owner payed alot of money to have a hightop installed profesionally im lookin to trade someone the hightop for there metal roof they cut off so i can weld the roof back on.

      I certainly do not blame you for wanting to do that. Check your local wrecking yards and ask them if you can use a Sawzall or better yet a cut off grinder. I cut body panels off all the time at my local "you pull it." But I'm sure you know that will be a monumental job. Might be better off reselling or even trading for he van you want. I would run a Craigslist ad offering the swap. Take photos of your van put them on there and see what happens. I bought 3 of my 5 vans through Craigslist wanted ads in the auto parts category.
      Best of luck I hope you find the van you're looking for.

    So I need to replace the side window on the right-hand door that opens same type of window would it be the same procedure and I didn't see how you reattach the seal

    • @ricksteelcustoms3196
      @ricksteelcustoms3196  Год назад

      Yes it is exactly the same procedure. But if you already had pop out windows then you do not need to need to drill holes for the screws. And there is nothing to installing the gasket. The basket just slips on to the pinch weld, no silicone or glue is necessary. Thanks for watching.

    What about any sealant around the gasket and door around the frame for water leaks

    • @ricksteelcustoms3196
      @ricksteelcustoms3196  Год назад +1

      Good question.....If you have some on hand you can use it if you want. But I intend to repaint my van to look like the one from the A-Team and I will have to dissemble the whole van prior to painting it and if I used sealant I wold likely damage the seal trying to remove it. And the factory did not use any sealant on the gasket either. Thanks for watching.

    how do you have a 2o minute tutorial but the window is barely in the view the entire video?

    • @ricksteelcustoms3196
      @ricksteelcustoms3196  11 месяцев назад

      Simple. I had no space to operate and the van did NOT run at the time, and I am a single man operation and didn't want to break my back pushing that SOB forward and then back up the hill. I do make it pretty clear how to do the install though. At least that is what most of the posters below have said. But I tell you what I will make another video and make sure even blind people can see okay? I have another set of doors and windows and am ready to do the job so look for the video coming out very soon...Thanks for watching.

    Hi Does anyone know where i can get a front right spindle for a '95 chevy g30 van?
    Its 8 lug. Cant find one and my vans been stuck at their shop for days.Cant work or even get around. Im in a bad situation

    • @ricksteelcustoms3196
      @ricksteelcustoms3196  Год назад +1

      Are you sure that a Pickup spindle won't work? Because I used pickup truck drop spindles to drop my Chevy G10 I just searched for a passenger side G30 spindle and could not find one. You may be forced to try a pick up spindle or a G10 - G20 spindle and convert to 5 lugs on the front. Because I predict it will be VERY difficult to find the correct spindle. But check the Junk yards and Craigs list also look for class C motorhomes they might use the same spindles only with a removable special hub adapter. Also check out my other video ruclips.net/video/i0tkkropvMU/видео.html If you want a set of theses spindles the parts can be bought from brotherstrucks.com and the part numbers are in my description. Best of luck. I still have my old G10 spindles and they are in great shape. I did find 1 G20 Spindle on ebay you might want to compare it to the G30 spindle I wish I could tell you it will work but I just don't know.
