This gentleman is a national treasure 🇺🇸
I love how all rolands vids r variations of either senko, devils horse, frog, or ploppers lol he knows what he likes to throw and he sticks to it
I reckon he's limited by the shallow Everglades.
@@twonumber22 he fishes these everywhere what do you mean
i think i have every color devils horse made, love that topwater son
Smithwick?
Love how he says “it’s only a 3lb’er”. I love this channel!
I caught a small bass on my Smithwick Devils Horse lure the other day for the first time!! Was really awesome!!! I'm sold on it!!
I'm 62and been a fan forever
Your instructions are on point. I like how you break everything down and explain everything. Thank you sir
I've been watching you Jimmy, Bill for over 45 years and enjoyed it . I learned a ton from you guys. Thanks 😊
You should come and fish in the Panhandle today. With 15" of rain and only 20mph winds, I'll be able to fish from my back porch in Tallahassee. WAHOO! 🤠👍
Dang! That’s a lot of water.
We’re so dry here, 15 inches of rain would have us dancing in the street.
Well, swimming most likely but we’d take it.
I caught my first bass on one of these. Now I collect the oldest versions I can get my hands on. I have over 300 n my collection with a lot of them being made in the 50s and 60s
Don't thank us Roland, it's us viewer's who would love to say THANK YOU!
Your working really hard for all of this great content.
Probably my all time favorite top water lure. I've fished 'em ever since I've known anything about fishing.
With a front and back spinner you would think it would make more commotion than it does. Barely does anything. I used to use a nip-i-diddee and I caught some giants when I was young. Loved that lure.
Thanks Roland, I caught my first fish on a Devil's Horse this morning. Your video helped me know how to work the bait.
Wheeew SOOOoon !! Biiig Fish!!! Don't forget to kiss them big ol Bass, Roland!! Great video as always guys.
Man roland you are so full of knowledge its unreal! Thank you for always sharing your wisdom with us and showing us how to use your favorite lures!! Love it man!!
Wow I haven’t fished the Devils Horse since the 90’s,awesome job Roland 💪👍🔥
Roland, nothing beats watching those bass smash that devils horse. Doubling that line is going to be a big help. Also should help not getting caught on the front hook.🎣🐟
Every time I see your video, if I can, I take the car and go to a reservoir that takes 30 minutes to fish.. Thanks for your passion
Roland was my inspiration to start bass fishing!! I learned so many tips, tricks, and techniques from this man. Thank you Roland!!
Thanks for the video Roland!
Nice video I been wearing bass out on the devil horse!
I learned from you watching your videos n caught 2 big Bass with the spinner bait 👍🏽
Great video. I’m still stalking you around all the lakes until I meet you. I’m on it.
Good lesson, thank you sir.
Thanks for another great video
Good stuff Roland! 💯
GOAT !!
Another Great video !!! Lots of topwater action!!! Love to fish the Devilshorse .. Need to modify mine to two hooks.. Never liked the light hooks that come on them ...
Keep'em coming Roland .. Love your teaching videos .. Always short and full of Good info and full of action ...
I have yet to catch one on a devils horse (shame on me). Now I know what to look for detail wise 👍
Same but I know I just haven't dedicated enough time. Jesus saves!
Great info Roland. Just bought me one of those lures about a month ago. I will deploy your tips next time I hit the water.
Thanks Roland helps a lot.!👊🏻
Hey Roland! That ol devils horse is the deal! Definitely gonna have to get one of those see if they like it out on the st johns river. Great video much respect
I hope you are in the Fishing Hall of Fame if there is one! You, Jimmy Houston, and Bill Dance should all be there!
I'm in all 4 of the National halls of fame
Hey Roland I live in Australia in QLD and we have great fishing but I love those big ole USA bass especially were you live on lake Ochechobe... it's is a magic place and i will get there one day.. I love your tips and tricks and the way you show folks.. love your vids son.. keep em coming son.. 👍🧜♂️
Thank you Roland grate tips for catch a bigle baas i look every video end fenomenal thank you again
Wow Roland, you are an amazing teacher. I've watched your son and grand daughter and they are great anglers... It's Val I've had company for the last two weeks.
I've only saltwater fished and worked on a deep sea fishing boat.
It was kind of like drop a line... there is so much technic in bass or lake fishing. I would love to learn.... I might be to old...lol. I haven't forgot about you at all.
Love it and God Bless Valerie
Bullfrog 1/2 oz. has been my favorite for years. Just like you say Roland. Been fishing it the same way , I will every now and then give it a double twitch... LOL. Devil's Horse, Zara Spook, and Pop R all I ever used. I am old school I guess...
You're the best. Thanks for these videos.
Roland you are the man!
Thanks for all the tips. These are the only devil's I like. Lol
Love it
Hay Roland thanks for all your tips on how to fish the DH, I have been following you for years. My wish is to fish with you some day but I now thats wishful thinking lol. God bless and thank you for all you have done. Terry...
Nice fish! Thanks for the information.
I don't understand what you mean by double line. I just bought a devils horse because of your video. Thanks
I think I still have a vintage devil's horse in the discontinued bass color
Again! That’s how you release a lmb son! 😊
Great video as always!!
Thank you for your knowledge👍👍
You are the best! Thanks!
I came in second place in a tournament primarily using a devil’s horse. And most of the fish were caught along a hydrilla edge.
Roland Martin , still sharing the line on scientific angling so we can enjoy our fishing more .
That was a great video
That’s a nice one son !!!
Roland ever fish the Ma Scooter it was a killer
I know you used butternut on your handmade bait. Maybe you should try cedar
Does anyone else notice the gator at 4:55? Roland probably sees them all the time so he's uninterested in it.
Rowland do you have a devils toothpick I loved that bait and was po ed when smithwick quit making it
No
500th Like!!!
Roland I recently read an article on florida bass. In the article they were discussing that research has indicated that florida strain large mouth are a stand alone species and not a sub species of the northern strain. Have your heard any talk about this being so familiar with florida bass? I've often thought that they had distinct characteristics that set them apart
True
@@RolandMartinOutdoors very cool. A video on the difference between the two species would be extremely interesting! I've seen no one do this yet on youtube, thanks for replying boss
Wait, how did you get to S FL from Oklahoma for coffee yesterday? :)
Do bass come and investigate weird noises
How big was that big one in the pepper grass Roland?
Sir, can u share your setup ? you reel, rod and everything else, if u don't mind.
Do you always take the middle hook out and put two larger ones on this lure?
Mr Roland , where can one ind the end caps for your rods. They would help this old body out
Google Cush-it
Roland Martin Outdoors thank you for your reply
How would a devil horse work on trout?
Roland, how about colors? Do they realy make a diference in topwater fishing lures?
I like to match the hatch
How do you tie the “double line” mentioned at 1:17 in the video?
Never mind. I listened again and heard “Bimini Twist” so I googled it and found out how to tie it.
I'm going to paint eat me on my Devil's horse and see if that works.
Anybody mind explaining what he means when he says he’s using a double line on the lure? Like a double Uni knot?
I have heard that you have to pause for a couple seconds before you set the hook... could you please explain how long and how this works?? Thanks for all your videos I've recently done very well on the senko due to your videos!!
I don't pause on topwater, just the worm for I'm fishing a high rod and I have to lower it to set the hook!
@@RolandMartinOutdoors ok thanks!!! Keep up with the videos!! They have been so helpful!
Is that a giant gator at 5:40
Yeah,decent size.
4:56 big female gator pops up behind him
Mr. Martin: why remove the middle Hook? Thanks!
I try different combinations
Hard not to throw a frog there as well
A war fish don’t eat that anymore and it’s 2024 so if you know Tracy Barker, that’s my Papa
His boat is white and inside and blue out in the outside 🎉
how often do you need to replace your hooks on lures to keep them sharp?
Keep checking them
@@RolandMartinOutdoors This might be a dumb question but how do you check them for sharpness. Im relatively new to the fishing scene. Love to do it but still learning.
That reel sounds like he just dug it out of the sand.
Roland's wrong on all four of his points... and for those of us who've been in the game awhile, we know why.
I've been fishing for L.M bass for a solid 45 years and he sounds pretty on point to me . i.m.o.p
@@drinkthekoolaidkids I've been bassin for 58 yrs. and learned, like the great rick clunn said, there are no absolutes in fishing. I don't mean to knock roland martin but I've caught bass in every way opposite to what roland claims is the best to fish the '' devils horse '' : 1 - '' super slow retrieve '' ... caught bass on a straight '' buzzing '' retrieve, 2 '' clear water... caught them in muddy water as well, 3 '' warm water ''... caught them in cold water ( 45 degrees ), '' calm water ''... caught them in choppy water, '' low light conditions ''... some of my best days were under bluebird skies. I've learned to let the fish tell me what they want, not what I think they want.
@@jerrylanglois7892 No doubt you are a very experienced Fisherman , from one life long bass fishermen to another , i say ..... my respect.
@@drinkthekoolaidkids Thanks, and right back at ya !
