Randy, may I suggest a subject for future video? I would like to hear your comments on tungsten weights vs lead......when why and how. Also, your opinion on "Sleeved tungsten or not?"
    Thanks for all your efforts!

Thanks Randy. We've crushed them on the Devil's Horse in southern Ontario in shallow clear water. Great lure. Anyone remember the Dalton Special? Oh yeah!

I'd be willing to bet if you started bass fishing in the 70s the first hard bait most people bought was a Rapala #11. As a kid my arsenal consisted of Texas Rig Manns Jelly Worm, H&H Spinner Bait, and a Gold Rapala #11

Thanks R. I thought I’d see the Jitterbug and the Spook. They’re proven old school top water lures. One can just irritate a big bass to kill a Jitterbug. Just keep throwing it and piss em off! Boom!

My earliest childhood bass memories are seeing a 4 pounder in shallow water, and my father cast a big hula popper right over to it- and he twitched it and he smoked that 4 pounder...And at that moment I fully believed my father was more powerful than Superman...

I was just in my local hardware tackle shop this evening and bought a new Devil's Horse. Haven't fished one in forever so I'm eager to get out and use it. It's one of those baits like a Jitterbug that's very nostalgic for me.

Them old rapala lures!!!! What a good lure! My Dad recently passed and he has some of them old school lures.... I am sure they are 50+ years old. Fun to see them old lures from your youth... I have heard of the Devilshorse, but that’s the first time I’ve seen a wood chopper. Cool!

I grew up bass fishing False River, Louisiana (1960’s) throwing the Devil’s Horse at daylight and dusk. Caught to many bass to count on that thing.
Today I am on Lake Norman, NC and have two Devil’s Horse baits in my boat at all times. A great finesse top water lure when buzz baits are to fast.

Enjoyed this video. I have used all these lures , except the Wood Chopper, here in central Fl for years with success, especially the seldom heralded propeller model Bangolure. The two hook model in gold with black stripes has done the best for me.
The Devils Horse you showed looks more like a plastic Boy Howdy, also a good lure. The new Rapala X-rap Prop with counter rotating props shows promise. Keep the videos coming !

Randy, you could have named this "5 of the most fun lures to use of all time!" Who does not love a good topwater bite? When you burn a crankbait and the rod slowly loads up, thats cool and all, but it is not the same!
When you are really slowly twithching a topwater near a log or some object that you just KNOW has an old hawg laying up beside it, you cast it, let it sit for like one full minute, then give it a gentle twitch, and suddenly it looks like someone dropped a cinder block in the water from 10 feet up....Yeah, that is some serious fun!!!!

Have you done much fishing in the northeast? It seems like most information from pros pertains to southern impoundments/fisheries.
It would be great to get some insight from pros such as yourself on fishing in the northeast United States.

Randy, I love these old school lure vids, thanks for the passing on the knowledge and experience you've acquired over the years. I still throw the original floating raps but the Megabass hi-float vision 110 has started replacing them for me when conditions are the same. Given the story of the other guy using the wood chopper on a spincast setup along with your long time affiliation with Megabass, makes me wonder if you had anything to do with the x-plose and the shorter rods like the Pagani Triad which they make in a specifc x-plose model. Do you ever use or prefer the floating x-plose instead of the wood chopper or similar propbaits? Same with the Hi-Float Megabass Vision 110 over the #11 Rap?

Please consider a follow-up video 2 year February 6th tube rigging. Can that video you mentioned you would do a future video on when and how to fish a tube and it would be great to learn some techniques for that. I only fished the tube for a few years back in the day. But it would be your professional opinion on it. Thanks for all the videos.

I still fish a Jitterbug. I still see them for sale regularly. When nothing else draws bites, throw the Jitterbug near cover or likely ambush points. Hold on! I love the action on the Jbug. Also love the Zara Spook and Devil’s Horse. I’ve watched Bass follow the Spook and crush it. They almost can’t resist that walking action.
