Heres the Part # for the Screw Kit XYN3+F6FJ-18PK. There a Service Bulletin on Panasonics Website for Upgrading the Firmware also. I would really highly recommend installing the Screw Kit, these are ticking time bombs and I've seen Dozens of them! BTW, SU = Scan Up, SD = Scan Down and SC = Scan Board. I'm sure you were hearing a "buzzing" sound out of the Set before the SC Board Shorted. Its this action thats causes the screws to become lose, making the Ground Connections fail....
This is a common issue on the 42, 50 and 55" models, but most especially the 42 inchers. Seems around 2000 Panasonic's build quality nose-dived and there was much penny-pinching. None of the circuit-boards, other than the PSUs had heat-sinks, and they even started using shorter retaining screws - hence they loosened and then arced;this became more of an issue with units being subjected to greater torsional tresses of wall-mounting.. Panasonic did nothing to rectify this but third party companies devised heat-sinks and even issued sets of longer screws with lock-washers. The penny-pinching even went so far as reducing the IGBTs from two clusters of three to two sets of two. Little wonder these sets were burning out within a couple of years. I heard that word of the shoddy design and build quality became rife and Panasonic started repairing or replacing some modules for free under extended warranties. If you're having problems with a set of 5 years age or less then it's worth challenging Panasonic over this before shelling out your hard-earned cash.
John Michael Richards question for you John, I just received my SC board back from repair but before I power it up I want to make sure nothing shorted I noticed D 641 D642 and D643 are shorted across the two soldered pins that are next to each other. Is this right?
fault mosfets short on this board, check other board to the right also before a replacement. theirs also a repair kit if you feel good at surface mount work.
I had the 7 blinking red light on my panasonic viera. I read up on it and one post said to unplug my hdmi cable. I unplugged it and held my on/off button down for a few seconds and my tv started working again. Hope this works for you as it did for me.
The only way to know is to physically look at the screws, they either have lock washers on them or not. Another thing you must do is clean the "arc" marks off the Panel, otherwise this will not provide a sufficient Ground. You should also update the Firmware, however the main issue is the screws, the Part # for the Screw Kit is XYN3+F6FJ-18PK....
This is a great video for those of us that have gotten screwed by Panasonic again. The part number you listed shows it's no longer available at allprotvparts but they do have another listed. do you know if it's the same? Thanks again
Does anyone know why these boards fail? On mine I heard a loud POP and then got the 7 flashes. I assume some component has blown. Reason I ask is I have a repairman coming to collect my TV today and he says the TV it’s best looked over to figure out ‘Why’ the board has failed. After seeing how simple it would be to replace the board myself, I’m wondering whether or not he’s correct. If I replaced the board with a new one would it just blow again? Is there a deeper fault causing these failures?
I have the GT31 55" plasma. 14 months old, 7 blinking lights. I have same board, what did you pay for it? And whats to keep it from happening again if its same replacement part? Do they warranty the part. Appreciate you making the video..
So i have searched through many comments (maybe i should have searched through more) and not a single person has listed the part number of the board he replaced. Maybe it should be listed in the description......maybe someone can reply to me (that would be excellent) with that helpful information. My Plasma just went out tonight after only around 100 hours of viewing. Thank you in advance!
+Gokey Tv The TV in the video above is the TX-P50GT30B but applies equally to the TX-P50VT30B and some of the 42" models too. In the event that there are seven flashes of the red LED then it is more than likely the Y-sustain (Y-SUS) board that's burnt out ( part number YSUS TNPA5335) and which needs to be replaced or repaired - repair kits are available on eBay. If doing the job yourself then add heat-sinks and use longer screws with lock-washers and this will likely stop future burnout. If you're getting no power then you'll need to replace the Power board (PSU) which is part number TNPA5426. I hope that answers your question.
If you used the original Screws to reattach the Boards, this Board will fail again!!! The reason these Sets are failing is because the screws are backing out and causing a ground issue on the Board. You can actually see where the Board arc'd to the Panel!!! Clean the Panels arc marks and install the new Screws that have "locking" washers on them are this will happen again....Panasonic has a Screw Kit that comes with 18 replacement screws....
7 blinks of death on my TH-24PZ77U. Bought in 2007 so I guess I got pretty lucky. Which board shiould be replaced? The video and comments below seem to be different. Any idea where to get one? Thanks!
the SC board part number is TXNSC1NVUU and the SU board part number is TXNSU1NVUU however, they are both out of stock until Feb. If anyone knows where to get them please advise.
i have the panasonic tx-p50st31b which has developed the same problem 7 red light flashes, would this likely be the same board thats failed for my model, im struggling to find any info on my particular model. thanks in advance for any help.
I have a Panasonic TH-42PZ700U It turns on but then it turns off REALLY quick. when it turns on I see static real quick. then the little red light turns on and BLINKS 7 times.
Does anyone ever check power/voltage? Is power going to the board?? Wouldn't that be a start rather then saying its this board it's that board. I found that when I disconnect the power cable to the board in question I still get 7 blinks, so... how does that mean it's the board. I don't get it. I measure the power at the cable end nothing, from the power supply board.. nothing. So I'd concentrate on the power supply board, wouldn't I?
My 24 month 55VT30 and just got the 7 Red Light error. It appears the the SC board is interchangeable between the GT and VT series. The repair looks simple I can't find any place that has it in stock. I tried EB and allprotvparts. Has anyone had any luck finding this board in the past month?
This repair was performed on a Panasonic TC-P50VT25X. Your information is not complete and can mislead people. You are quite definitive the SC board is THE component that will fix the problem. According to Panasonic code table, the 7 flashes can be caused by the SC, SU, SD , or SS boards. Based upon the weight of your assertions, I replaced the SC board. It was NOT the problem. I paid $150 for the SC board. I located the SU and SD boards for $35 each. I replaced the SU board and the problem was fixed. Caution to anyone attempting the repairs. Make sure you are careful to properly seat all ribbon cables. Even the tiniest of misalignment can cause a problem. My initial reassembly I had several large horizontal bars across the display. (I did have a picture which indicated to me I had the correct board.) I unlatched and reinstalled each ribbon cable, being very careful of alignment and seating. Final result was a fully repaired TV. Although the SC board was not the problem, I chose to leave the new purchase installed. I know now I have a bad SU board, but I also have a spare SD and SC board.
hi i have this 7 flashing red light iv replaced the power surply and su board and still have 7 flashing red lights its a night mere any idea wot one i kneed to replaced
Martin orchard As I mentioned above, Panasonic lists the SC, SU, SD and SS boards as the most likely cause. I was able to get the SC board for $150 but it is very hard to find unless you go direct to Panasonic where they do carry it for $200. However, I found the SU and SD both available for $35 each. I would try ordering the SD board since that is the cheapest way to go. If you already replaced the SS board (power supply?) you will have then replaced all but the SC board. If the board you replaced was the SC board, the SS board can be found pretty easy, but I do not know how much. Good luck.
John I had a question. I just bought a TC-P60ST60 sold as not working. That is the 2013 series of Panasonic plasmas. The owner said that he had thrown something against the glass and made a small crack on it, and then a month later the screen wouldn't turn. And the blinking lights that the tv shows is 7 blinking lights. I bought it and confirmed that it is showing 7 blinking lights, so my hope is that the small glass crack in front has nothing to do with it going out, the crack seems like it only occurs on the glass layer and not that panel itself. So I finally removed the back cover and I double checked all of the four board, the SD, SU, SC, and SS boards, all the power connectors and ribbon cables seem perfectly in place. The boards themselves look pristine, like new, super clean. No signs of components looking or smelling burnt, no warping of the circuit boards, they're screwed in tightly and in place. As far as my eye can tell, they look like they don't need to be replaced. When you saw your circuit boards, did they also look like they didn't need replacing? But once you started replacing them one at a time, you realized that a board wasn't working? I started out buying the cheapest boards, like you said. Actually, the SD and SU boards were being sold together as a set for relatively cheap ($36), I just bought them online, they'll be here later this week. I have the opportunity of buying an SC board right now for fairly cheap ($40), I don't know if I should jump on this or not. Did you do any voltage checking, and if so where on the circuit boards did you check them out? My hope here is that the 7 blinking lights on this 2013 Panasonic Plasma is accurate is narrowing it down to just these 4 circuit boards.. I hope its nothing else. If you have any tips or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. THank you.
seyeryej Keep in mind I am not TV repair technician. I do have a back ground in electronics so i am not afraid to dive in to things. In digital electronics it is very rare for a component to show any sign of failure. Yes, non-digital components can show failure (discoloration, fracture, etc), but they are becoming rare. Looks like you got the boards at a good price. Look at it this way, replace the boards one at a time. Even if you spend up to $400 (total) to get to the board that failed, you end up with a $2000 (?) TV for a cheap price! When you do locate the failed board, sell the other good ones on e-bay. You will find it is not hard to replace any of the boards as long as you are very careful. I do recommend you head my comments above about re-inserting the ribbon cables. If you are ultimately able to power up and get a display, but have some sort of defect (like banding or horizontal bars, re-seat the ribbon cables. As far as the crack in the glass, if it had any consequence the display would not have come back for the month it did. Good luck Patients reaps rewards!
It just happened to me. Seven flashes, and after calling Panasonic and telling me its not cover, i disconnected the sc board, giving me 8 flashes. Ive seen that 6 flashes means the sc board is bad, but whats wrong with 8?
No. I tried getting the sc board first, but no one has it for my tv. Panasonic wont help, and this is the first and last time i buy anything from them.
Ryan Waddell nope. Tried a technician and he wanted to change all three boards at once costing $250 in parts before labor. I just wanna try the sc board first so i said no, and i still waiting to find an affordable part online since is out of stock everywhere, except where it cost over $400 of course. I paid a little over $500 for it new. So tv is under de bed waiting to be fix. Meanwhile i went to craiglist to find a temporary replacement, and i found a 42 Vizio for $160! I read a few bad reviews on Vizio, but after this one, i think im gonna be a Vizio guy now, very happy with it. For sure, no more Panasonic for me.
same here. with a twist, I used the remote to turn on my tv it failed (possibly I hit on/off too fast between on AND off) anyhow..I couldn't get the tv to turn on and had the seven light of death..great! well, I simply waited a minute and pushed the power button on the actual tv and click! it turned on just fine..I'd also suggest to anyone before they freak out is to wait unplug the tv waite and make sure the tv isn't damp (near an ac unit as mine was) I think mine was due to high humidity
I turned on my TC-P55GT31 today and it turned off after 10 seconds. I now get 7 red flashes. Guess I'm looking at the same issue in the video. I have noticed that over the last two months I was getting a slight flickering of color in the top third of the screen. Wonder if thats a power related issue too or something different.
I have a TC-P55VT30 and just got the 7 red flashes this morning. My TV was doing the same exact flickering you describe over the last couple months. It was usually during scenes where the screen was white and was always the upper third of the screen. Not sure what to do now. Need to do more research. Perhaps ordering this board is the way to go.
Kevin Brian I think my part was around $200. I had a local TV repair guy do it because it could have been one of three boards. I didn't feel like assuming I was right and end up being wrong and have a long downtime. While I was down I bought a 65" Samsung led 8000 series TV. Horrible picture. So glad I was able to get mine going again. I searched Panasonic's site for local repair agents. They also have a parts store you can order from. The bad part is that now most parts aren't new but rather rebuild from third party sites. They offer little to no warranty and want you damaged part in return so they can refurbish it and sell it to the next guy. Repairing our plasmas may be the only option for a decent picture until oled gets more affordable and widespread. Good luck and keep me posted.
Hi CitizenChin -- my GT30 (50 inch) just made a crazy loud "pop" and I've got the 7 red blinks of death - lol. I'm tempted to try and fix it myself. How do I know if the board is bad? Maybe it's something else, no? And nobody seems to have the part in stock. Wonder if that's because its happening a lot. Anyway, any advice you can give is greatly appreciated. I'm getting this part, right? TNPA5335 YSUS SC Board Y-Main
Simply unplugging the hdmi fixed the 7 blinking lights for me. Maybe a bad cable can cause this issue as well. Everyone should try this before buying a possibly unneeded costly part or trashing a good plasma.
Well I believe its the same crappy part as the original but now its available from other vendors. This website has it for 99 bucks which is much cheaper than panasonic, sorry youtube wont let me post a link. Ive also recommended to others that you should call panasonic directly and just complain, they may offer you some repair or discounted pricing. allprotvparts
Dam Panasonic. Will never buy from them again. Basically saying im out of luck on my tv thats 1.5 yrs old that cost me 1700. Same thing 7 blinking lights. Has to be common problem cause everywhere including them themselves are out of stock on board. Make it worse 2nd tv from them I had problems with. Steer clear of PANASONIC period
hi i have 7 blinking red lights iv change the su board and change the power surply and still have same falt on tv txp42st30b any idea wot board i kneed to sort this out thanks
The board you replaced is actually called the SC board. The two thin longer boards next to it are the SD and SU boards.
just replaced my SC board and it worked great! You just saved me 400 Dollars for labour.
The fix only took 20 minutes using my power drill!

We managed to get our same model TV, TC-P50GT30 repaired and now have the fault again. Hope that we can get this repaired. Too nice a TV to lose.

Did you have to remove the buffer board first in order to remove the SC board and I heard that you should not lay a plasma tv flat down.
THANKS!!! This helped a lot. TV working again!
Ask them if they are authorized for Panasonic warranty repair

this model Panasonic plasma tv green 15blinks plz help
Since the SC boards are no longer available to purchase, is it recommended to use a service to repair?
7 blinks of death on my TH-24PZ77U. Bought in 2007 so I guess I got pretty lucky. Which board shiould be replaced? The video and comments below seem to be different. Any idea where to get one? Thanks!
the SC board part number is TXNSC1NVUU and the SU board part number is TXNSU1NVUU
however, they are both out of stock until Feb. If anyone knows where to get them please advise.
Contact Stereo Component Service 617-277-4600 they carry these in stock. They are out of Boston.
+Cat Hannah You can mail your old boards in for repair at a much cheaper price than buying a new one if you look on eBay.
i have the panasonic tx-p50st31b which has developed the same problem 7 red light flashes, would this likely be the same board thats failed for my model, im struggling to find any info on my particular model.
thanks in advance for any help.
I have the same set and age and just last week it gave me the same 7 flashes. Can't seem to find any place that has it in stock.
I have a TH-50PZ80U and last night it started the 7 blinks of death. Any advice?
I have a Panasonic TH-42PZ700U It turns on but then it turns off REALLY quick. when it turns on I see static real quick. then the little red light turns on and BLINKS 7 times.
Hernandez Michael what did you do to fix it ? What was the problem
Do you happen to know the part number that you purchased? Panasonic parts has two models to choose from.
TZRNP03TMUU
TZRNP03SSUU
stands for "SUSTAIN"
i have had this happen twice in the last year and a half. if I take to a repair shop, how could i know if they use locking washers this time??
Does anyone ever check power/voltage? Is power going to the board?? Wouldn't that be a start rather then saying its this board it's that board. I found that when I disconnect the power cable to the board in question I still get 7 blinks, so... how does that mean it's the board. I don't get it.

Can u please tell me where you found the SC board for 150$? I need one, mine is burned

where do I get this board replacment ??
I had 7 blinks. Unplugging the HDMI fixed it for me
lol I was watching all these vids on how to fix it and I seen this comment and did it and it fixed
Thank you man you save my life
what hdmi ? all of them or can 1 do the trick?
@@darrankaminski1247 did you try this hdmi method? I have the gt30 and seven blinks.
Yes. No good for me. Thanks though
hi it's the y sustain board faulty very common plasma tv's just repaired on yeaterday 24 august 2016
Kevin Brian mine ended up being an SC Board. Part number TXNSC1NVUUB
Thanks Brandon! How much did you spend on it and where did you get it?
TNPA5335 YSUS SC Board Y-Main
i got that number on my board but don't know if that's the board that went bad
A more interesting fix would be repairing the original board.
Hi, can you tell me how much cost for the board.
Anywhere has the part in stock? Thanks
where did you get the board?
Now do us a favour and touch the big cap and give us something interesting to watch
my five year old son just through a controller and cracked the screen. I have the red light flashing seven times now on a 4 day old TC-P50ST50
Same model with mine to gt30.
Hi iv 8 flashing red lights can you tell me wot boaed or wo the promlem is thanks for your help my tv is px42-st3ob
Hi I had 7 flashing red lights and changed the main board and now have 8 blinking red lights can you tell me the promlem now thanks
No its Part #TNPA5335 YSUS SC Board Y-Main
Simply unplugging the hdmi fixed the 7 blinking lights for me. Maybe a bad cable can cause this issue as well. Everyone should try this before buying a possibly unneeded costly part or trashing a good plasma.
Unplug and plug back in you mean?
Did not work for me, HDMI is simply input, reinstalled and unplugged power and plugged back in and no fix, still 7 blinks.
Is this the part you purchased? TXNSC1NVUUB
worked for me. thanks
Hi, I am looking for TXNSC1NWUU
just in case anyone has a spare to sell
wtf no sound
Well I believe its the same crappy part as the original but now its available from other vendors. This website has it for 99 bucks which is much cheaper than panasonic, sorry youtube wont let me post a link. Ive also recommended to others that you should call panasonic directly and just complain, they may offer you some repair or discounted pricing.
