Great vid! I think you’ve found a really good niche here with Pimax 8kx tutorials/ tips & tricks etc. There’s not much on RUclips and I feel the number of users is starting to increase now. Mine arrived this weekend 👍
Now that I have my 8KX, this is very useful. I'm impressed with it, much better than the G2 or the Vive Pro 2, as both of these don't have a large enough IPD adjustment for me, I'm 75mm, so I have the manual IPD set to max at 70mm and I'm adding in 1 or 2 mm in the software. I have a RTX2080 and I finding the 8KX on native mode pushed my system too hard, and I got better performance by setting render quality to 0.75 and a clearer image when compared to the upscale mode with a higher render quality or increasing super sampling in Steam VR.
Could you make a dedicated video for a guideline to adjust the perfect IPD settings? Many new users are struggling with this and you say yourself that this is a quite complicated process. Thanks for your support and keep going!
Nice video. I think you should explain more paralel projections to newbies. It is the biggest performance eater there, and that "pp" should be off whenever possible. If some game needs it, you will see emediatelly double picture. One more thing, Pimax big fov is not made to look edges of screens directly with your eyes. It is made to look directly up to sweet spot edges. The rest is made just for pheripetal vision. Many users do not understand this.
You should tackle the most difficult problem with Pimax 8KX....which is how to run Project Cars 2 without parallel projection. I heard some people were able to make it work approximately a month ago....but for the life of me, I can't figure it out despite trying all the steps and directions giving in the forum.
I'm using a Quest 2 and link is the performance of the 3090 worth $2300 when compared to a 3080 at half the cost or go with a 3080 and upgrade to a dedicated PCVR HMD?
Since I only have one base station because the other is broken. I still wanted to see the picture quality. So I loaded up saints and sinners. One thing I noticed was the red curved line on the outside corners of the each display. How do I get rid of that ? It also shows on my monitor. I had the quest 2 and it wasn't there. Also the monitor display showed it as if i was playing on it as a flat panel game,,,, but now with the pimax it shows my left eye only with that red curved fading line. Now the screen on my monitor automatically shows I didn't have to select that option. I see an option to view it and another small window open up showing the game. I can select both eyes or right and left. still red lines. I can't use that because it's already displaying on my monitor which I can't close.
@@NextGenVR it was a setting in-game for vingrete (something like that) I turned it off. I'm still trying to figure out why the mirror that's starts up automatically only displays the left side and not centered like the quest 2 did. Is there any settings on pitool or pimax experience that has to do with mirroring. I also made an account at openmr wrote a whole post out but it wouldn't let me post it , hahahaha. Figures
This is nightmare even today, extremely buggy to make it working properly in game “A” when ya decide to play game “B” the nightmares trigger again. I’m selling it and will buy a Quest 3 or whatever, it’s pretty much ready ou-of-box and a plus of wirelessly standalone device, we won’t barely have free time to play itself, rushed life faults, we won’t be tweaking and setting god damm things forever when relax to play a game and that’s it what Pimax are bringing on the table.
I owned an 8kx it was an utter embarrassment software wise and the tech support was like talking to NPC's... SO BAD unless you write your own software the headset is useless, sadly as the actual headset is pretty good.
The most advanced, and yet, still unfinished, HMD available. SEE EDIT BELOW Pimax IS AWESOME Have had my new PiMax 8KX for about a month now and during that time it has worked for about a week. The list of problems just gets longer and longer. Can not work with steam - Steam just crashes as soon as it sees the Pimax. Tech support says reload steam, reload Pitool, Reload SteamVR. Try this setting and try that setting. But it still does not work. It is even difficult to turn on! Sometime it conects straight away and other times not at all. Sometimes you get a green light (all good), sometime a purple light (reprojection is on) and sometime an orange light (no idea). There is no way to control this behaviour. The Pimax was not designed to be used with steam. In fact I would say that the product is not complete and still being tested. And you can be a beta tester for only $2000. A serious waste of time and money and I would be happy to get rid of mine for 75% of what it cost me. Sad to say that it is just not ready for the average VR ready computer competent consumer. I have just spent an hour and a half with Pimax support remoting in to my PC to successfully solve the problem. I am impressed that any hardwear manufacturer would spend that much time with a single unit buyer to solve a problem. Kudos to Pimax!
So in 30 days you've apparently only been able to get your Pimax to work for 7 days...yet Pimax support, in a little over an hour, fixed your issue. Well then clearly the issue was on your end, not Pimax's. Yes, Kudos to Pimax's customer support. They're literally one of the most respectful companies I've ever spoken to.

Very Helpful.Thank You...I ended up getting contact lenses just because of VR....I'm enjoying the freedom of no glasses

I recommend the rtx 4090

Mrtv did that guide 🙂👍

Thanks for the video, loads of great info.

Great job 👍
Thanks for you videos. Could you please tel me the pc requirements for Pima 8kx best performance? I’d really appreciate that.
Thanks.
Are Pitool settings like RENDER QUALITY, FFR, SMART SMOOTHING etc processed by the HMD or by the GPU?
What is the headphone you modded on the headset? Looks neat.
It's the Vive Deluxe audio strap
I'm using a Quest 2 and link

The 3080 is definitely a better deal for price vs performance.
I recommend the rtx 4090 , the 3090 isn't fast enough
I will be a new owner of a Pimax 8K X soon.
What's your experience so far with it?

I have no idea. You should ask on the Pimax forum: community.openmr.ai

I am holding my breath waiting for an 8k x with oled panel 😬
Won't happen unfortunately. 12k will have local dimming though with a release window in late 2024/ early 2025
It seems that HL Alyx needs parallel projections.
See here for how to play Alyx without PP: ruclips.net/video/D6duxIEwoBM/видео.html at 35:13
Do you have a Discord server?
I'm guessing not then

skill issue
good vid, but was a bit too much personal opinion to be a definite guide.
step 1) Get average flat face.
Lol true, I have a big nose and this headset cuts in it pretty deep
Here is my definitive guide for the Pimax 8KX: don't buy one.

I’m experiencing pretty much the same with my 8kx ….it’s been a nightmare, one step forward two steps back
