If anyone is new to Steve's channel, you won't be disappointed. I picked the guitar back up about 3 years ago after not playing more than 11 years. honestly when the video started, I was like this guy is so metal. Expected a really deep, and gruff and very cool-intimidating voice but when he started talking I couldn't help but smile. He's so cheery and friendly!

Beautiful pattern Steve, I love to fingerpick with my guitar. I have only been playing Acoustic guitar for a little over a year and I am having a great time learning from your videos. So Steve, from a very grateful sixty-six- year- old beginner. Thank you, my friend.
I've played guitar for 30 years and there's some time I'm trying to play this "fingerstyle" thing. That's technic is practically a new way for play to me and a little complicated to understand and this is the first video I found that really start to helped me. Thank you!
What I really really appreciate from Steve Stein - whether on this channel or on his own channel - is that he really tries to teach. He shows every detail, every string, slowly, so even a beginner can understand it. I regularly watch few guitar channels (I'm a beginner) and on other channels I feel that sometimes people there try to show off that they can play something rather than trying to teach how to do it. Or maybe because I'm still a beginner it is too hard to understand it. Anyway - Steve Stein - thank you very very much that you are not one of those people and you focus on teaching rather on showing off. :)
I remember being taught this exact song and picking pattern in college guitar 101 and being completely lost, but this makes it so much simpler. I wish this guy had been my teacher back then. I was only one state over!
Thanks for posting this video!! I never thought I'd be able to play something this pretty, this is my first time ever finger picking anything. You're a great teacher!

Thanks Steve. Thanks Danny I like others have been a music fan since my dad would wake me in the mornings flat picking his silver tone by of all places sears and robuck when I was In the 3rd grade in1965. I also remember watching the Ed Sulvin can’t spell (lol) show when the Fab 4 aired live in 64 . Sir you have a gift to teach and for that I am thankful for!!!!
Great stuff Steve, its taken me two weeks and it's the first finger picking action I've managed to stick with....probably because you slowed it right down at the beginning...many thanks 😊

Thank you for this video. Playing the guitar felt to hard for my sister but she was able to pick this pattern up rather quickly. It entirely motivated her on practicing. Thank you very much.
Hi Chris! Thanks so much for your comment and kind words. Glad to know the lessons are helpful. If you want to dig deeper make sure to check out the lessons and courses at www.guitarzoom.com. Hope to see you there soon!
Hey, we’re you strumming before? I currently do the normal strumming style but I’m interested in this style. Is the transition between the two easy or?
Ok I have been wanting to learn finger picking. This video I can actually see what you are doing! ..unlike other teachers. This 55 year old lady just might finally learn how to fingerpick. And I have always worried about fingernails. Mine are just not strong like when I was younger. Seeing that you don’t have nails is encouraging for me. I will have to record each of my sessions to show progression. Thanks Steve.
I've recently started practicing finger picking and have been discouraged but this came pretty quick and sounds cool so will add it to my current practice - Thanks! I really needed this.
Thanks! I have watched several other guitar teachers on line regarding travis picking and I want to tell you that you have made it much easier to grasp. Also it is nice to have a little ditty to play after

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Steve. I have played the guitar for a few decades and I have looked far and wide for a lesson exactly like this lesson. I have the fret board hand down pat but could not find anything to teach me the picking that you just showed me. I am so, so, grateful. I have saved this video to favorites and will be watching it daily and practicing this. Thank you so much.
gettin the rhythm by muting the strings has helped me understand, not only this pattern but many more, fretting a chord has been distracting me from learning pattern rhythms, never thought to do this thanks!

I can play guitar pretty well but have never been able to pick up any fingerpicking. After one 10 minute video (the first of your videos I’ve seen) I’m no longer stuck in the rut of making no progress that I have been for so long. Thanks so much.
Your passion for teaching really comes thru, lessons are concise & practical ~ (um... "Practice" coming from that word ✋) It all seems do-able, as u explain things. Thanks man!
Steve is totally cool and I've learned a lot and of course continuelly learning. I haven't been on the the learning path and playing path as long as some on here but like most everyone here I love playing and learning and I hope to at least get good I'm sure right now I just make noise as I hear myself lol!! But I get lost and lose track of time when I'm practicing. I read the comments and know I'm not alone and everyone starts somewhere so thank all of you on here! Like I was told in the beginning practice practice and more practice and having a music teacher has helped as well. Enjoy your music and thank you Steve for your videos 😉😉👍

He makes it all so simple, but in reality this means serious practice......

I am gonna try this now. You are an awesome instructor sir. I am self taught and picked the guitar back up after many years of playing at all. 62 now and have regained the love i had for it again. Newfoundland Canada here . Stay safe and be well
Thanks Danny
I like others have been a music fan since my dad would wake me in the mornings flat picking his silver tone by of all places sears and robuck when I was In the 3rd grade in1965. I also remember watching the Ed Sulvin can’t spell (lol) show when the Fab 4 aired live in 64 . Sir you have a gift to teach and for that I am thankful for!!!!
Best teacher for me, experienced moving away from unfortunate zombies and treating students like humans
FINALLY.!!!!
I've found a video that will get me started fingerpicking.
Thanks Steve. You're a right good teacher
Thanks so much, Jeffrey,
Steve
Great stuff Steve, its taken me two weeks and it's the first finger picking action I've managed to stick with....probably because you slowed it right down at the beginning...many thanks 😊

Thank you for this video. Playing the guitar felt to hard for my sister but she was able to pick this pattern up rather quickly.
It entirely motivated her on practicing. Thank you very much.
Very good teacher , explains it and shows exactly what you need to know

Thanks so so much Steve. You have a beautiful peaceful aura around you when you teach. Love this 😊
Great lesson. I appreciate the pace and clarity of your teaching. Makes it possible for beginners like myself to 'get' it. Thanks so much.
You are most welcome!
Steve
I never give any comments but this one is the exception. Thank you so much for a very clean, entertaining and well teached video.
Respect
Alex
Thank you, Alex!
Steve
Brilliant Steve thanks man, best beginner finger picking lesson on yt for sure, its a great lovely sounding song to learn to,cheers steve love from UK
Oh man, I am so excited you did this. You helped me figure out solos and fills on another video lesson. Gonna give this a try.
Excellent video. I just bought a Taylor gs mini mahogany yesterday. This is just the video I've been looking for. Thanks a million.
I really enjoy watching your video ... You are the best teacher ever 💓👍
I've been trying to get into fingerpicking, finally, boosh!, I'm starting to get it.
Thanks Steve, message received and understood.
Hey, we’re you strumming before? I currently do the normal strumming style but I’m interested in this style. Is the transition between the two easy or?
This is great teaching, especially for me cos I'm a complete novice. Thanks for another excellent video.
Also it is nice to have a little ditty to play after
Yo Steve! Thanks so much, your lesson was clear and accessible plus I feel I learnt some real useful picking stuff!
You're amazing Steve, I click the like button before I even watch the video! Thanks for everything, very helpful!
THANKS Steve. I really needed this. I have been doing this WRONG for SO LONG.....AWESOME!
You are welcome!
Steve
You're a natural teacher. Very excellent lesson.
Thank you, Peter!
Listen to this guy for 5 minutes before I figured out he's a really good teacher
That was so clearly and supportively taught. I think I might actually be in with a chance of getting that. With lots of practice...... Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words, Jonathon! And thanks for watching! :-)

Thank you. Please keep these fingerpicking lessons coming
This is a great way to use easy chords and easy finger picking patterns. Thank you. I can practice this, make head way and make music.
This guy is a good teacher.
Thank you! I am a beginner and this was a great exercise to get me picking!
gettin the rhythm by muting the strings has helped me understand, not only this pattern but many more, fretting a chord has been distracting me from learning pattern rhythms, never thought to do this thanks!
Awesome! Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! :-)

I can play guitar pretty well but have never been able to pick up any fingerpicking. After one 10 minute video (the first of your videos I’ve seen) I’m no longer stuck in the rut of making no progress that I have been for so long. Thanks so much.
It was really helpful. It's the first time I tried finger picking after watching this lesson...Keep uploading lessons. Thank you.
You are most welcome!
Steve
Your passion for teaching really comes thru, lessons are concise & practical ~ (um... "Practice" coming from that word ✋) It all seems do-able, as u explain things. Thanks man!
You are so welcome, Jeff!
A great Lesson . Thank you ! Brian . Northumberland . UK ..
That was explained SO clearly! So helpful! Thank you!
This video came up as a RUclips advertisement and I was blown away. Such a good video. Hooked
Thank you!!!! New to finger picking and learning Melisa Etheridges Baby you can sleep while I drive. THIS is what I needed!!! Subscribed!!!
Hi Sandra! That's awesome. Thanks for your comment and for the subscription. Welcome aboard!
