Best piece of acting I've seen in decade's Benecio del Toro deserves that Oscar
he was totally hosed and so was Blunt and Brolin....that was just a fine film...
Alejandro Gillick is the most fascinating character in a film since Vito Corleone in GODFATHER II.
❤❤❤
...Sorry What?
Benicio Del Toro was robbed an Oscar for this role
I agree. Sadly was never even considered. Least the people that know, know.
Single handedly the best representation of the punisher ever put to film. Brilliant film and brilliant character.
I think the character of Kate is not exactly a reminder of his daughter but more like his former self. His naivety and the urge to do things "by the book" got himself and his family in trouble with the cartel (because he was a prosecutor/lawyer). Having to endure more pain than he could take, his morality snapped. The ruthlessness in his action makes me question my own morality too.
What a great introspection!
Amazing performance, amazing character
What really haunts me about this movie...
When you rewatch the final dinner scene.
He shoots the mother first, so she doesn't have to watch her children die.
yo this video is fire man. subscribed. keep this up. really well edited, and good narration.
Good job on this. We need part 2 !!!
Excellent analysis. Very well edited video too 😎
One little detail I would like to point out is that alejandro didn't become a freelance hitman, alejandro is colombian you can tell by the accent, the fact he is called medellín as his callsign, the story probably hints at the fact he joined the medellín cartel in order to fight the juarez cartel, after all he is a very well trained soldier more than an average hitman, thats where he got his training. Later on he got pick or captured by the americans
I saw a comment on Reddit saying that Matt had trained Alejandro for this mission. He’s an SAD operator and part of their mission is to train new soldiers. Using a leap of logic I would guess that he found A and debriefed him on the mission and spent years preparing him. It makes sense since A is extremely proficient tactically.
@@PolynesianPrince97 Graver finds people that he knows will get the job done. He's no teacher. We saw this with how he uses Kate.
He was a prosecutor.
@AsparagusVideo He wasn't trying to train Kate, he needed her to sign off on what Matt's crew was doing was by the book n all that shit.
@@CannibalOX99 Asparagus video didn't say he was training Kate.
Saw your post on reddit and checked your vid out. I can't believe it doesn't have more views than it does. Good analysis
Such a dark and powerful film. It was very disturbing but also one of the best films I’ve ever seen.
Excellently described, written and delivered, im telling about your video brother❤
I love that final scene when he was standing there waiting to see if Kate would drop him. He just doesnt give a fuck whether he lives or dies.
Well put, great video!
Need more of him
Superb analysis of an amazingly tragic character....one helluva movie that was totally robbed when it came to Oscars.
I get the fact that he was a prosecutor. I get that he lost his family under unspeakable circumstances. But how did he get the training?
That’s a bit more fleshed out in the sequel. But in my head canon, he began as an equivalent to a JAG officer in Colombia.
CIA
CIA
That is a very good point! Not just regular military…he seems to have Special Forces level training.
This also really bothers me although I haven't seen the sequels yet so maybe it's explained, I'm not even sure how long ago his family was murdered so how does a ~30-40 year old lawyer and tax accountant become the most accomplished and impressive special forces operative?!
Very well done!
Fantastic video.
We (the USA) live in a peaceful bubble, really. Where the random evil happens, but the massive and calculated evil often found in the rest of the world is the stuff of movies, rather than in our streets.
Likely that will one day change.
Demais! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
How did Alejandro Gillick get chosen by the CIA to be trained to such a high level and then allowed to be an independent contractor?
Because he was the perfect cat's paw. Built-in plausible deniability for the CIA. Cartel boss and family suddenly get taken out over dinner? It was revenge of the "grieving lawyer". Plus his aptitude and intelligence made him _able_ to do this. Judging from what we see in the film, he absolutely could have joined SF
Very cool, did enjoy 👍
In the movie aljhandro said he was from Columbia and he was referred to as Medellin which is a place in Colombia / the Colombia cartel Pablo Escobar cartel then Matt stated that he’s a assassin for the Colombia cartel
We want a trilogy!!!
Damn Good Movie 👍
very nice! got a new sub too.
lemme just add how very harmless the name "Kate" sounds?
I think it was such a good choice from the producers!
Yeah but where did he get his training?
❤❤❤
nice video
I got to tell you this is one of Emily blunt's suckiest characters. She's such a weenie in this movie questioning every move even though every move has been explained to her and she still doesn't get it.
that's the point. she's out of her depth. the movie ends with her being told to get out, and she doesn't show up for the sequel, which had the same writer.
Alejandro is a broken man who "fixed his breakpoint" by putting on a shell that he sharpened into a blade like state and cut his nemesis same way that nemesis cut him off from his past life.
So is he Mexican or a Colombian
Did the CIA or Cartel train Alejandro to become a hitman?
I was thinking the same thing..he's highly trained and disciplined..not like he was like ok I'm going to be a hit man now...lol
Yes he was
CIA. They built him up specifically as an asset, I suppose his sheer determination for revenge would allow him to surpass other candidates.
So, If someone asked me to write a deleted scene that explains this part of the movie, I would say that it is very easy to train a man who is extremely motivated and is not afraid to die.
Our US military transforms high school dropouts into Navy Seals and Army Rangers. So, maybe a flashback scene that shows Alejandro having basic gun skills, while he is a prosecutor in Colombia. Then, in the aftermath of his family's deaths, he gets onto the CIA's radar while he is out merking narco soldiers on his own time.
Maybe it is Matt specifically, who sees the potential benefit of having a motivated killer with a common enemy, working toward a similar goal. I could see Matt being the one to recruit Alejandro and offer him advanced training and unlimited resources, in exchange for his expertise, language skills, and willingness to kill without hesitation.
I think 3 or 4 years of training and working closely with a ruthless arm of US Intelligence could explain Alejandro's skill set. But at the end of the day, there is no substitute for enthusiasm.
As a heavyweight boxer, Mike Tyson was outmatched in almost every way. He was shorter, lighter and gave up a ton of reach. But if you watch the progression of his career, it is obvious that he was at his best when he wasn't scared of getting hit. His raw talent and savage offense are what made him so scary. Teaching him head movement and footwork made him unstoppable. It's hard to articulate, but there is just something different about a man who has nothing to lose and sometimes savage brutality can be mistaken for skill.
@@RustCole01 He was prosecutor in México not in Colombia. He work with the colombian cartel.
Finish your meal
HITMAN
In a land of wolves
Bro did two good videos then dipped
So how is Alejandro able to get away with murder?
Nothing will make sense to your American ears.
@@SpecialAgentSamCooper Since when am I American?

Forgive
Kate was not casted correctly or realistically, she maybe weighs 80 pounds soaking wet. I enjoyed the movie otherwise but that flaw just completely throws is off for me. A strong male could of played her part, but I think the PC crap crawled into this. It's a shame it could of been a perfect movie.
Nothing wrong with an oddball opinion here and there.
Totally trash opinion. Apparently you didn't understand the story or the role of the characters.
An episode on graver would be interesting
