- Marine Corps boot camp's true challenge lies in losing your identity, following strict rules, enduring constant yelling, and feeling isolated from home comforts. It's a life-altering test of mental and emotional strength. But hey, they'll emerge with a new skill: the art of letter writing.
#marine #shorts
You don't lose support. You gain additional support, in your fellow recruits and DI's
That's some corny ass shit, I don't talk to any of my platoon mates.
@@Anthony-dy5cqyou never came across one at the px? Out in Jacksonville? Or at the Stumps shoot the shit at the DFAC....
Come on... maybe not ten years out but you did.
Nope, can't remember one if they weren't in my unit I don't have a story about them.
@Anthony-dy5cq bro, he is talking about when you're in basic. I can't even remember the names if anybody I went through OSUT with, but they definitely threw me some support. And you too. Quit being so obtuse, you're reading comprehension sucks😂

No matter the branch, mail call during basic training is almost more important than meal times.
I've always said there are four things that truly piss off Marines if you f--k with them. 1. Chow. 2. Time off. 3. Pay and 4. Mail
@@gmoney9068its not something you say. Its something militaries world wide have known for centuries. Excluding the time off.
Not everyone got mail, it was often a bad time for some recruits in my platoon because they had no one.
So of course we would share anything we got with them during square away time
Total disconnection, no calls, no news, I didn't speak to anyone until the night before graduation... My family cut out sports articles from paper... The stories, teams win-loss records would get passed around for everyone to read.
You don’t lose your identity, you create a new one, a stronger one. You learn what courage is and how to lead others. Most importantly you learn what kind of person you really are deep down.
To all y'all Marines out there know you are all someones hero, you all have someone probably more who is looking up to you and wants one day to be like you. Know someone tonight and from everywhere is thinking of you keeping yall close in our hearts , in our thoughts and always in our prayers. My family certainly is! All you Marines are brave, strong, and tough. Yall stay safe kick ass and God bless y'all!! THANK YOU for all that y'all do, and all the sacrifices made.
The best recruitment is Marines
Almost everyone I knew had relatives, or coaches, or teachers who were Marines. It's not just the stories but more so what they see every day. How they act
So many kids need this.
First phase they broke me down, second phase I started to come around, third phase I was lean and mean, graduation standing tall in my greens........1,2....3......4
They didn't break me me my grandfather raised me he was navy saying yes sir was first nature and I was about 10 lbs over when went in and I think lost that pretty quick hardiest part i found was the 52 crucible I thought was roughest
It was the best worst time I've ever had. You gain discipline, self respect , respect of others and realize what teamwork is all about. Parris Island was my first stop after high school. I'd do it again. Semper fi.
You dont lose yourself,
You gain support and self purpose in this large world that most will never understand.
You don't lose your identity. You gain a lot of brothers. Brothers that will be at your side when it's the darkest
You do not lose your identity during boot camp I know because I’ve been through it!!
I love getting my sons letters.he is about to graduate next week from boot camp. 🎉🎉🎉🎉I can tell he is more confident through his letters.go marines!
Tell him I said congratulations
Congratulations to your son.
He now has two birthdays to celebrate
I got to know marines in Alaska
They also love cookies☺️ and so polite. They did not turn down the cookies or smoked salmon . In the arctic .💗💗💗💗 Alaskans loves Marines.
We are all on the see-food diet 😅
I like how they say you lose "complete disconnection" and then follow it up with "you'll learn how to write letters"
The Marine Corps is very good for making you bigger as a person and teaching real teamwork, morale, and
personal discipline for the Corps and other things later in life if and whenever you get out or stay in😊.
I think before I went to bootcamp I was searching for a real identity. I thought identity was all the aesthetic things you put off to the world around you. When you're stripped of all that you really find out who you actually are
True ,In my case I started idealizing my family and home. When they picked me up at the airport I realized,I changed they had not.
Getting yelled at is easy. Getting smoked for someone else, difficult.
For me, recruit training MCRD San Diego 1995, the hardest part was watching Alaska Airlines fly in/out of San Diego. The best part that still gets me choked up, is hearing TAPS play every night. That was my reminder I made it another day closer to earning the TITLE. Semper Fi
Women should get the exact same haircut...
It all grows back...
The reason is the culture doesn't want to see women with their heads shaved
Cope
Weak culture
Why let it grow back more than 4 to 6 mm? That's just stupid, short hair improves your morning routine, just use a towel and you are done.
You gain a more mature YOU, a stronger YOU, and we as a nation, THANK YOU!😊
I’ve always supported taking phones away. The complete cutoff from the outside world is not only helpful but it’s also necessary when building a unit. Recruits should be learning about each other and focused on working as a team rather than their next phone call or text message to someone at home.
I firmly believe that going into Boot Camp in a pretty well physically conditioned state is what will serve you best initially.
If you’re reading this and deciding to go into the US arm services train, and do double what the minimum requirement is at the very least, it will serve you well.
Rofl I still kept my identity. I just hid it temporarily
You learn your fellow Marines are your support. You watch their backs they watch yours.
The DIs misson is summed in in the order the Senior DI is given by the Company Commander after he takes the Pledge, "Take these men, make them MARINES"
I like the multiple subtle jokes that were thrown throughout this clip. Big fan of the female recruits all out of step
My grandson is joining the Navy. I already have postcards, paper & envelopes, & stamps to write to him!
"They getting a haircut. Turning everyone into clones."
Well...
Roger, Roger...
Didn't know that cloning was this simple.
The point IS to change your identity. It's about teaching you to be part of a collective. A lot of people go in as individuals who are out for themselves. They break you down and build you up. So you leave knowing that you are part of something bigger.
letter writing is an art form, in days past people strive to communicate in letter form, a sign of intelligence.
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS🇺🇸
ITS A ADVERTISEMENT THAT THE DRIVER SQUATS TOO
The real difficulty of boot camp:
using the same brush to brush the floor, the urinals, the shower, and your clothes..
Sticking your finger in another dude's ear to 'clean' it..
opening all the peanut butter packs during chow..
trying to find your shoes after 'tornados'
the hills aren't exactly fun either.
it's called total control. is only one of the tools that the drill sergeant has in his toolbox
I enlisted 20 years ago when I was 17 and boot camp was one of the easiest thing I did in the Corps. Two deployments & over 2 years overseas in one enlistment.
My dad who was a marine said you never really leave the Marines, you just leave the military or something like that
Today USMC boot camp is nothing like what they faced in Full Metal Jacket! movie!
I'd love to go to bootcamp again at age 59. Not to be in the Marines but to challenge myself to see if I can hack it.
I went in 1993 and the new skill I got was to hold my laugh due to all the games the DIs came out with. 0311
Plot twist. That Sargent or whatever he is was actually yelling the answers to the guy.
I SALUTE YOU MARINE!
Did it back in 1977 at Paris Island. Looking bank Lovedit😊
Better call Crayola. Marine gonna write letter. Need crayons
To all military service members, respect!
I was an AOC, we had the the greatest instructors. Mine was a great men, Gunny Snow, USMC. Only time I got paid to work out 😂. That's sweat not years.
Once in battle they turn against each other
It seems that the Marines peak in boot camp.
My favorite MARINE went to Heaven on 03MAR16
Is everyone going to breeze over the fact that red shirt marine had a tongue ring in lmao😊
Homegirl’s uniform was jacked up when they were walking towards the camera
It was easy as shit. Just do what your told. The Drill Instructions are the god of everything. I didn’t own a computer the whole time I was in the Corps. I only had an old cellphone, and the only gear I needed was a watch. I was Motor T 3533. It was worth it. I’ve since had my knees replaced, my gallbladder removed, my kidneys a lithotripsy treatment, chiropractic care for years, and a hole in my stomach repaired for nothing out of pocket. Only this year (23 years after I joined) have I had to start paying a small $18 fee for Medicare insurance.
Hospital corners, 4x4 underwear, and no strings on the uniform.
My brother was a different person when I saw him on graduation day from bootcamp
Catholic school and my Parents prepared me for Boot Camp. I was used to getting yelled at and beaten. Plt 170 Jun-Sept Parris Island 1975.😂
Fun times, can I go back? Yes I am sick and twisted.
They break the civilian down then rebuild the Marine. I know this as I went thru it.
Been there, done that!!! proud of it!!!
Jokes on you, I'm used to being disconnected from love and happiness since birth. I was born to be a Marine but ended up joining the Army because I started realizing that I can easily achieve anything having suffered for decades...
Algorithm works, my son just arrived in Bootcamp and the dreaded phone call was no fun. RAH
I'm former sailor. I have much respect for Marines
Why do you capitalize the "M" in Marines, but you don't in "sailors???". That makes NO sense!! If Marines is capitalized, then so is Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen!!
Yo that woman marine had a tongue ring??? Wtf
That's not a Marine.
That's a Poolee, at a poolee function.
She's most likely in delayed entry program and participating in poolee functions to prepare for bootcamp. Recruits and Marines do not wear red shirts.
I saw that shit.
I went back in 05
I still yell to this day 🙁
Kinda just realized why I yell maybe
My wife has said “we’re not Marines”
Don't leave out swimming
With all the problems in the world, the Marine Corps sure can straighten them all out !
“Radical haircuts”
Semper Fi!
I remember that.
The lord lets the Marine Corps go on forever and in exchange we keep heaven filled full of fresh souls Oohrah
It is all about attitude. Enjoy it? Why not, try to do one more rep. Want to have the cleanest gear. Want to be the best, if that is your attitude your in the right place. It will be much easier. If not, find out the toughest battle. Fighting yourself is a hard thing to do.
This country needs the draft brought back
Uh am I missing something? Why is that one female recruit looking like she just got out of bed.
Make sure you teach them how to address a letter. My gf daughter went to airforce. First letter was like wtf. I can't believe this made it here
You're just a number to use in a game you cannot control
My famìly is the USMC .
Yes you might lose touch with your real family but you also gain one that has your back Simper Fi
Since when do they allow tongue rings?
I said the same thing!
Letter writing using Crayons 😊
I never got brainwashed in boot camp. I just went in, minded my business, and graduated. It wasn’t even that hard.
I feel women should have their heads shaved too. The only reason they keep hair is for beauty standards. You’re there to learn how to be a marine, not to win the next Beauty contest
Honestly if I had a female DI yelling at me I woulda busted out laughing. Nobody could beat my mom
I had a female di she was a green belt di she made more one recruit pour tears I seen one recruit laugh at her 1000 push up later he wasn't laughing reason wasn't 500 because skipped a number during counting push ups and we had start all over let say he was not happy when lights went out couple people had a beef with him
I did it 1974 out 126 . 23 of made it to graduation then Vietnam
Challenging. Challenging.
3 long months? Waah babies😢
Is that a Tongue ring recruit?
Army was tough too
Every UNITED STATES SOLDIER has my heart and my thanks
Did that girl have a toungue ring in bootcamp??????
Roflmbo…
I bet the enlistment tanked after Gen z heard they were phone free😂😂😂
First night aft haircuts we all ran 2d mirrors, n I had to raise my ✋! [[ In order to recognize myself ]].
Girls haves strict guidelines too! 😅😂 only thing i have to say about that is atleast those Females are badasses or atleast they use to be!
Not clones, recruits
Dear John,
Jody has been here for the last 3 months im 2 months preggo and its yours. Its not you its me.
Letter writing and receiving 101😂😂😂
Female Marines... I love a charade.
Ohh rah!!
Go Army🎉
My lil. Grandbaby. Boohooing. Already. I told her to. Toughen up. She. Will be. Alright. It is. Time to. Grow. Big. Time. Take. Responsibility
To this day, 40 years later, I love getting mail!

Why did that one girl have her tongue pierced she must have just been in reception, or things have changed that much
Poolee
What about tongue studs?
