There are some animal shelters that don't have a fee (I dropped off my fur baby to one and even if I had to drive a reasonable amount of miles away to get her to a different location I would have) or worse case scenario, walk in an leave them there which I would've done if they said no. They'll have the resources to find a place if they are full.
It’s sad. My friend’s most recent cat adopted herself. Jumped right into the car while she was out somewhere random af working on set. Microchipped and everything…. The vet still hasn’t heard back from her humans, and that was 3 (ish?) months ago

I've owned 4 small dogs and two big dogs in my life and right now I have a Yorkie/Chihuahua mix and a golden retriever and I love both of them. The other four dogs, the first one my mom found it a new home because she was afraid that it might attack the kids if they got too crazy. That was a long time ago. The second was a pug that died because of a hot day. The third was a black lab/boxer mix that we found a new home because we had moved into a new apartment that was too small for her. The fourth was another pug that died of old age. I've only had a max of two dogs at a time. I also have four cats in addition to the two dogs, a guinea pig, a bird and 6 chickens.
I can barely handle being a college student, this dude is a student, athlete, and dog owner!! Mad respect. Hope he does well in whatever his future endeavors are
He's obviously a sweet man. He'll find that his sweet pup adds to his life indefinitely. (But you hang in there! College is tough, but it's such a nice feeling of accomplishment when you graduate.)

When he said the dog makes him feel better because he doesn't feel totally alone, the first thought that ran through my mind was...not only did he rescue her, she also rescued him by becoming his emotional support pet! This could not have ended better ❤❤❤
I think it's difficult for a lot of men to be emotionally vulnerable. I would imagine it would be doubly hard for a man who society paints a negative portrait of them. So I'm glad he was able to adopt a little angel, and I love that he's an example to others.

I don't know about all shelters, but the 1 local to me charges to drop off animals 😢 and they are very biased towards Pitties 😢😢. I found a beautiful Rottweiler walking my neighborhood,took her home, kept her for a week while I walked to every place within a mile trying to find her owner, checked lost dog ads, etc. My landlord found out and told me she had to go or I would lose my apt. When I called the cops cause I couldn't get a hold of the dogwarden, the cop said they could actually charge ME for abandoning the dog cause I had her for a week! Luckily, the cop was a dog guy and saw how sweet the old girl was ( personally, I think she was used as a breeder, her time was up, so they dumped her) and he took her w/out giving me any tickets or worse. I called the shelter a week later, and thankfully!!! someone saw how sweet she was and adopted her the day after the cop took her ( maybe it was him??) I hope this man and his new girl have a long and happy life together!!!
I wouldn't call this guy a high value man, but a real man. I think any compassionate person who comes across these creatures will do the right thing to help them. Unfortunately, the bar has been set very low with the direction social media and influencing is headed.

I don’t think the kitten was dumped. The kitten most likely was born feral/stray, and either got lost from its family or something tragic happened to them. Stray cats are constantlyyyy having babies. And that little dog had been out there for at least a week or two, bless her heart 🩷
@@LiterallyJustAnActualPotatothat’s how I found my cat as well, my family and I live in the woods so it’s a very normal thing to see feral cats walking along with her baby’s either on our property or in the woods across the street, my dogs were trying to get her (my cat) while she was in our water tunnel thing that extends under our drive way (I can’t remember the name 🤦♀️) and she was covered in clay. I eventually got her and washed her up and she had her fill of adventuring into the woods because she no longer goes in to the woods. I guess she remembers the anxiety of having to scavenged for food and hiding from the coyotes.

Yes, I love mine and treat them the same as my children. They eat at the same time, I cook their food, they go the vet and get their teeth cleaned and treated . We celebrate their birthdays, they have stockings and get Christmas. They go on vacation with us. Have snow clothes and on and on and on. They are like forever toddlers than old drama kings 😆

He reminds me of a childhood friend of mine. Whenever we went to explore the neighborhood parks and dogs would gravitate towards him. It was interesting because he happened so often. It was like he had his own language with dogs. Eventually he started showing up at home with all these dogs and at one point he had 4 dogs much to the dismay of his mom but he took such good care of them. I could never understand how he connected with dogs so easily. We used to tease him and tell him he was part wolf. He took it as a compliment.

This story was adorable, but also, the cat’s eyes were amazing. Obviously angel was either lost or left. She was probably a house dog that suddenly had to live in her own for however long. She was terrified and hungry and just needed someone to care about her. I’m so glad you found them both.

She was probably dumped. Her fur had clearly been neglected for a while but she was friendly and didn't seem underweight, so she had probably been left there recently. The fact that there were no missing dog posters and the owners on record with the microchip company never responded definitely sounds like she was dumped.

I found our family dog in the middle of the desert at night, while driving with a friend. Someone dumped her, and she was only 8-9 weeks old. I know what it’s like to have an unexpected situation arise, while you’re doing your own thing. It’s been 8+ years since finding her, and I’m happy I did. She’s the best❤

My husband has wanted a dog for the longest time and I always said “ no”. Then at some point I said “ Ok, but we need to fence in the back yard first.”. ( Still haven’t.) Then one day he called me out of the house to look in the car ( he always does that after cleaning it) and there was a puppy in the back seat in a plastic bin! I flipped out! I wasn’t mad but it was a combination of being hugely surprised and thinking we were unprepared. She became my dog and the dog I never knew I needed! 😊

Nah, not in private. I call my dogs my kids in public, and refer to myself as mom. My adult kids refer to the dogs as my kids and refer to me as mom when interacting with my dogs too. They do the same with their animals.

My heart breaks for that little dog. It blows my mind that some people can look at a lovely little lady like that and just abandon her in the woods. Most domesticated dogs can’t fend for themselves, especially not a little poodle mix like her! I am so impressed by the man’s initiative and willingness to step up and take in that sweet little dog. But it just goes to show, if you no longer want an animal, OR cannot take care of it, it’s okay to surrender it to a humane society or rehome the poor thing.

Yes, I love mine and treat them the same as my children. They eat at the same time, I cook their food, they go the vet and get their teeth cleaned and treated . We celebrate their birthdays, they have stockings and get Christmas. They go on vacation with us. Have snow clothes and on and on and on. They are like forever toddlers than old drama kings 😆

He reminds me of a childhood friend of mine. Whenever we went to explore the neighborhood parks and dogs would gravitate towards him. It was interesting because he happened so often. It was like he had his own language with dogs. Eventually he started showing up at home with all these dogs and at one point he had 4 dogs much to the dismay of his mom but he took such good care of them. I could never understand how he connected with dogs so easily. We used to tease him and tell him he was part wolf. He took it as a compliment.
Now that is what I call a mans man who care for all creatures. Makes my heart all warm and happy! ❤️🥰🐾

This story was adorable, but also, the cat’s eyes were amazing. Obviously angel was either lost or left. She was probably a house dog that suddenly had to live in her own for however long. She was terrified and hungry and just needed someone to care about her. I’m so glad you found them both.
The lack of response on her microchip info tells me she was dumped. Thank God for this guy! I hope kitty finds a new home with a loving pet parent like Angel did.
She was probably dumped. Her fur had clearly been neglected for a while but she was friendly and didn't seem underweight, so she had probably been left there recently. The fact that there were no missing dog posters and the owners on record with the microchip company never responded definitely sounds like she was dumped.
Both of those animals were dumped possibly by same owner.
The kitten looks exactly how my cat did when she was 12 weeks old. I just know the kitten is going to grow into a beautiful long hair void

I found our family dog in the middle of the desert at night, while driving with a friend. Someone dumped her, and she was only 8-9 weeks old. I know what it’s like to have an unexpected situation arise, while you’re doing your own thing. It’s been 8+ years since finding her, and I’m happy I did. She’s the best❤

I am waiting for the day that my next creature crosses my path, I know it will happen, last time was a rescue kitten who ended up living 22 years, have been taking a break! My husband has wanted a dog for the longest time and I always said “ no”.
Then at some point I said “ Ok, but we need to fence in the back yard first.”. ( Still haven’t.)
Then one day he called me out of the house to look in the car ( he always does that after cleaning it) and there was a puppy in the back seat in a plastic bin!
I flipped out! I wasn’t mad but it was a combination of being hugely surprised and thinking we were unprepared.
She became my dog and the dog I never knew I needed! 😊

I've been known to refer to myself as "daddy" with my dog in public. I am proud to have a 95 lb goofball who is as much a "social butterfly and "attention hound" as he is dog.
Nah, not in private. I call my dogs my kids in public, and refer to myself as mom. My adult kids refer to the dogs as my kids and refer to me as mom when interacting with my dogs too. They do the same with their animals.

My heart breaks for that little dog. It blows my mind that some people can look at a lovely little lady like that and just abandon her in the woods. Most domesticated dogs can’t fend for themselves, especially not a little poodle mix like her! I am so impressed by the man’s initiative and willingness to step up and take in that sweet little dog. But it just goes to show, if you no longer want an animal, OR cannot take care of it, it’s okay to surrender it to a humane society or rehome the poor thing.
