My wife and I lived in Saint-Denís a little burb of Mons about ten years ago, while working for the DOD. Belgium is absolutely one of our favorite places that we have ever called home.

I have not heard of Mons before, but it looks incredible! I feel that most guidebooks I have seen on Belgium mainly focus on Brussels along with Bruge, Antwerp, and Ghent which are in the Flanders region compared to Wallonia. I don't drink much alcohol at all, but the cherry beer sounds really good. I definitely will have to consider checking out Mons at some point!

Checking back a year later after my comment and 2 months after exchange, how I miss Mons. I actually lived in the student building right across from Martin’s Dream Hotel. I got a view of the hotel’s stained glass every night. What an amazing Belgian city 🖤💛❤️
My name is Mons. I have visited Mons. The chocolate was amazing. The Martins Dream hotel staff was lovely, the dinner was excellent and the maitai cocktails amazing. Brass monkey. Super fun! I love all the MONS decals everywhere!

Nice video Jessica and Sean! As I live in Belgium (Antwerpen ) I thought to know Belgium pretty well.. And realized I never been to Mons! But of course a general theme in Belgium is Chocolate, Beers (Soooooo... many different styles, flavors, colours .. it is a world on its own!) and frites -carbonades (pork stew usually made with beer) and in Flanders they have excellent jenever (which is the origin of gin... did you know this?) You should explore Antwerp too... I know an excellent guide ;-)

Ja, Bergen is echt een parel van een stad maar het is jammer dat zij zo weinig van zich laten horen.
I love beer especially Belgian beer like La Chouffe cherry 🍒 and La Chouffe Blond.
Pork...😳 Okay, I have to feed you if you haven't had tender pork. Fresh ham is my favorite, then Boston butt or and let's not forget pork belly or bacon. 😋
🤣 I wasn't counting bacon and I wasn't specific when I said that! Like pork loin or pork chops is what I meant. It was always dry to the point you needed to drink with it 😳
