True story about meeting this amazing group. It was when this album was released, and they were touring. I saw them in Denver, CO with a friend. We were right up front. They began playing and by the third song my left ear was ringing with pain. The lead singer stopped, walked to the backstage, came back to the frontstage and bent down to hand me something. Everyone thought it was a guitar pick. It wasn't. It was ear plugs. A simple, kind gesture. ❤ After the show, my friend who worked at 92.5 radio in Denver got us back stage passes. I bought a shirt, etc. We went back and said, "Hi" and introduced ourselves. Then, the lead singer (I apologize I forgot his name atm) said to me, "Sometimes there's just a tune that gets to me, too. I saw you standing there plugging your ear with your hand/finger." He then autographed my shirt and drew little ear plugs! I still own the shirt and won't wear or wash it. They were all so amazing and down to earth guys. 🙌 edit: word

Yes: That was always my favorite line in this song. There is a similar line in the song “In The Blood” by Better Than Ezra. It’s something like: “But it's the way you move your hands. And it's the way you understand.”
I hope these guys know how much I admire what they do. The diamond songs these artists have created will live with me forever. Excellent work fellas! 🙂
I also used to work at Blockbuster in the exact catty-corner area of our great H-Town Houston (this was back around the time that the original Jurassic Park and Speed came out) and Coil had not yet dropped, if memory serves. If this album had been released at that time, I'm pretty damn sure that my Manager, coworkers and I would have been totally jamming to it over the store loudspeakers as well.
My motto is literally a Toad lyric: “Whatever Happens will be”. Was lucky enough to get backstage passes & met them in 1995 on tour when Hootie & the Blowfish opened up for them. That’s was show with the two best band names lol
A fantastic song by a band I loved then and love now - hard-driving yet beautiful. The ‘90s were not really my decade - I much preferred the three decades preceding it - but great music has no era. I am gratified they are still around and have made it through to this era relatively unscathed - older, wiser, still rockin’. What more can you ask from life these days?

Not to talk crap about what plays on the radio these days but am I the only one who thinks that this sounds like real music and who wonders what the hell happened?

Melody became uncool. Knowing how to play your instrument became uncool. None of which I can understand. This kind of music still exists but it isnt on widely distributed radio.
I love this album so much that I have back ups... am not even talking about file back ups but actual unopened CDs (bought a week after Coil was released) just in case the 1st one gets scratched (i'm clumsy) and I still have them lol
This was one of the few bands of which I was satisfied when i had one of each album and that not hard to achieve. I don't know if the world just didn't give Toad a fair shot, or if Toad had the shot and thats where it landed. I liked about haolf the songs, many of the off beats. I will always find them genuine, fluid and interesting.
My brother still has a sealed copy of "In light syrup" . I bought it for him not knowing he already gotten it. He held on to it and still has it 25 years later.
Going through watching old videos and of course this one had to be one of them because duh. I love them. Glen is so sweet, I saw him on one of his solo shows

Unconsciously avoided this band because of the stupid name, but heard this playing in a restaurant a few days ago and I was instantly hooked. Just the kind of wistful, sharp-toned guitars, end credits rolling, massive chorus, sweet alternative rock with a little bite that I just fawn over endlessly.

1997 = peak for alternative music
Almost 25 years old. Still one of the best songs I've ever heard.
I haven’t listened to this in forever. I remember I was like 12 when this came out. I’ve missed this song.
I agree Jason,I liked it when it came out and I like it even more today.
Also, one of the best ALBUMS ever written… and I totally agree, this song is absolute perfection.
I agree!!!
Hard agree!!!!!!!
TOAD is one of those rare bands that have SO many really good songs!
Critter literally all of their songs are jams! This one is the best, but that’s my opinion
Wierd thing is, I only knew them for "Something's always wrong" but didn't know so many songs playing on the radio when I was a kid were by them. Lol.
If I had the talent to have just written "All I Want," I could die happy!

It's too bad bands like this are kind of forgotten. They have music that still is fresh today. So many years later.
"I won't repeat myself again
I will not repeat myself again"
Love it!
jackpics Ditto
Love that clever line.
And, Glen's expression as he sings it!
Always loved that line...
Reminds me of the Summer of '97 and Much Music. Man I want to go back.
This is one of THE GREATEST songs in the collective history of known and unknown civilization. PERIOD.
This is one band that never made a bad song...ever. They are all masterpieces.
