I've seen Doug and Stacy's Homestead where she shows how to make ACV, and so I don't know why a press would be important. Many neighbors have apples that they don't want. Knock on the door and see if you can pick some. You both benefit.

I take Apple cider vinegar every morning in my green tea and I add ginger and turmeric it’s so delicious to me that I drink 2 cups and sometimes sneak in another cup at around 5 pm but of course I use less apple cider vinegar on the second and third cup. Great topic 😁💡🍎

A tip about chopping onions I learned from "50 tips from Hells Kitchen" is cut the top off the onion, cut it in half thru the root, peel the outer lining off, then leaving the 1/2 of the root in place cut lenghth wise and then cut your slices. With this method I find I don't cry thru cutting onions and it is a quick method.

  • @OrganicMommaGA
    @OrganicMommaGA 11 месяцев назад +2

One thing I learned completely by accident is that the variety of apple you use in your apple cider vinegar decides how strongly flavored your vinegar is. A very mildly flavored apple will not give you the ACV "punch" when it comes to flavor, even though it will still have all the great properties. We still use the store-bought stuff for home canning to ensure we're getting the right acidity for safety, but otherwise, we use our homemade ACV in "everything". LOL

I make my own apple cider vinegar, using up old apples, or apple peels when making apple pie or sauce, add the appropriate amount of sugar and water and let ferment. Lots of recipes and tutorials on line. One great thing about making yourself, one usually has sugar and probably apples so really no cost at all to make.

We use ACV for sore throat. Momma always made us gargle with it when we had strep and it would clear up twice as fast vs antibiotics. She had laryngitis and pharyngitis when she was 15 and her Dr told Grandmother to have her gargle with ACV 2x day to clear it up bc he stated that it killed strep. A friend of mine has both of her children gargle with it every time they get sore throats to prevent strep as well. We are firm believers in using it for us as well as our pets and poultry.

This made me think of the middle eastern drink, Sekahnjebin. This drink is made with simple syrup, apple cider vinegar and mint, but you could add other ingredients for flavoring. It will quench you thirst and help cool you down in hot weather. There are many recipes on the internet.
I have used distilled vinegar for years to clean, deodorize and soften laundry. It will neutralize urine odor, even cat pee. I had a cat who thought he had to mark anything that was mine and distilled vinegar took the odor away. I have also used it to kill unwanted vegetation, even small trees. I don't dilute it for that purpose, just straight vinegar in a sprayer or spray bottle. Many insects don't like it. If you wipe down your counter with vinegar, ants will find a better place to roam.

I’ve made some accidentally using Kombucha. I let it sit for 6 months (I literally forgot about it). I didn’t want it to go to waste so I looked online to see if I could still use it and found out that I made vinegar. It actually tastes like Apple Cider Vinegar.

Fire cider looked good, although I would probably only use the jalapeño. I’m not a fan of really hot things. I just today made some onion & honey syrup. It will be ready to strain and put in the fridge tomorrow. I really like the flavor as well. Have a blessed day/weekend 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️👩🏻‍🌾

White vinegar is better to use for cleaning and washing our fruits & vegetables. It is much cheaper to buy.
The apple cider vinegar is way too expensive. So i rather use it in my drinks and other mixtures for our house hold health wise.
I always buy white vinegar and keep them by the big bottles of them and always keep a few on hands at a time. Whenever they are on sale i still buy like 3-5 drugs of them. Because vinegar can use for many other things, like using it in your laundry. It takes out the grease, dirt and oils from clothes, sheets, aprons, towels etc. It makes our clothes bright, clean, smelling awrsome and very soft. The vinegar helps with keeping the colours in our clothes as well.
When washing whites omg, my towels, socks, clothes and sheets are so soft and comes out very white and beautiful.
So i only buy white vinegar and apple cider when they are on sale and i put a few bottles of both vinegars in my prepping bins.
Lastly, vinegar can also use on cuts or bruises and any type of injury you have to clean it, if you don't have or run out of your other medical things in your first aide kits and it works amazingly.

I have made vinegar with other things besides apples. My favorite was with raisins. Have you made any vinegars besides apple cider?

Nan--•, what I have found is that when a company sponsors a video it will say on the screen that the video is sponsored by so and so. Or it will be clear that the entire video is an ad from the particular company that you are watching.

Once again I found myself mysteriously unsubscribed. I just wanted to share this regarding those 'marrow' zukes. Mine are really hard and already turning orange inside. I was making some bean soup with my pole beans I left to dry on the vines. Picked about a cup of shelled beans, nice and dry. I cooked the beans in my insta pot with diced onions and garlic, a few table spoons of tomato paste since tomato season is over here, water and chicken bullion, about 30 Minutes. While that was going on I managed to cut my marro into wedges, the skin still on that then used the large side of the grater to grate, but no skin was used. I then added that along with a bay leaf, basil and oregano and added more water cooked the soup for 10 minutes more at pressure. The squash made the soup THICK, it was a very satisfying and tasty fall treat. I never thought of using these marrow for anything other than goat food. Now I will 'put up' at least 6 for other uses. Next experiment MIGHT BE A NUT BREAD COMBO. or maybe Mock Pumpkin Pie. I guess if I don't visit your account as often as the algorithm feels comfortable with, they unsubscribe me, not just to you but others too. Just wanted to post the marrow thing before I forgot, I just finished eating some.
