    It's used at my job. It's a good laptop for most office work tasks. Only issues:
    - The motherboard is sensitive, so be careful when upgrading RAM or SSD.
    - No HD camera, so not good for sales/consultants that are in frequent Teams or Zoom meetings.
    - Brightness 🌞 levels are low for its price tag.

    I'm really impressed with this laptop Andrew! Don't underestimate HP in 2023 is what I say. You're correct in that upgradeability is the name of the game and it's always been that for me. Having said that, I believe you should customize a laptop when ordering it just incase you find out it has limited upgradeability later on. It's what I always do. Great video Andrew. Thank you!! 👍😁

    I've been using Elitebooks for a very long time. What I'm amazed at, is the fact that they don't put one usb-c/TB port on either side so you can charge from either side. I liked your review on the Lenovo slim 9i, and just bought it the other day based on your excellent review.

    • @shahzebatiq1
      @shahzebatiq1 10 месяцев назад +2

      I think that's because of the TB controller design. There's one TB controller, and there are voltage signal limitations that prevent TB lanes from travelling such distances. If they did include USB-C on the other side, most likely it'd have to be through an additional TB controller, and it'd get expensive in terms of both cost and industrial design/internal space.
      I think that's how Apple does it too, for their laptops with quad Thunderbolt ports, 2 on each side, they have two controllers, one on each side.

    Thanks for the video. So well made. Lately, HP has been giving users what they really want. At my next upgrade, there is a very high chance I'll be getting a HP.

    Nice PC for the business user. Camera and mics are good. Upgradeability is excellent, no doubt. Keyboard design is very good and neatly laid out. On these silver colored units putting in a keyboard with dark keys makes sense. The blacklight on this type of keyboard works well compared to those units with the light colored keys. Excellent review.

    There have been some fantastic deals on the Ryzen version of this - the EliteBook 845 G9. I'm typing this on one now, it's great. Same chassis as the 840 G9, excellent build quality, ports, and upgradability, outstanding keyboard and webcam. I paid under $600 for a Ryzen 5 6600U and 16GB RAM, performs about as well as the Core i7-1280P but with way better thermals. The USB 4 ports support Thunderbolt, so now there's really zero reason to choose the Intel version.

    • @andrewd3899
      @andrewd3899 Год назад +2

      How did you manage to get that config for $600? The cheapest 6600U in my country is more than $1000 equivalent

      But the 845 it is not vPro capable, so the Intel version is much better from the point of view of remote support in enterprises ;-)

    Outstanding but as I thought: No OLED screen (better for the eyes and quality of screen) and battery life is a must. But the upgradeability is excellent. Price is quite high as well but I guess it's a business sale. Really impressive nonetheless.

    Thanks for the great review. Indeed, an amazing laptop. However, for this very expensive price - there are much better laptops: better screens (higher resolution and brighter with OLED screens), much lighter, with nicer chassis. Pay this price just for the upgrade option?! You could buy a new laptop every 3 years for this price (such as Dells or Lenovo business models)

    • @norman5324
      @norman5324 Год назад

      I must disagree, Doc. You should realize that both OLED and higher screen resolution would consume more battery energy so it adversely affects laptops autonomy. Apart from that, unlike IPS displays OLEDs suffer from pixels burn-in.
