dielectric grease is a good idea when reinstalling. helps keep corrosion from forming between ground and frame
Great idea😊
I started by trying to take my ECBM apart but got stalled by the first T-20 bolt and gave up. Then I saw your video and cleaned the ground connection and lo and behold it worked! I sure am glad I didn't get the EBCM apart lol. Thank You :)
Thank God, cleaning that bolt is so much easier🙏😊

2002 GMC Sierra had the abs and brake lights intermittently on before trying this. Now the lights are gone! Thank you so much.
Nicely done 😊😊😊😊
At this point any advice is greatly appreciated 👍 Thank you I'll try it on my Yukon
Thanks Daniel, it fixed our Yukon👍
Man I got to try this on our 04 Tahoe I hope it works! Thanks Great video!
Please let us know how it goes 😊
I replaced everything in the front end, including rotors and pads, tire rod, ends, ball joints, upper and lower control, arm, bushings, idler arms, a steering rack, a new instrument cluster, and the brake light was on. So I looked up how to reset brake pad, life and you mentioned that the parking brake might be on a little bit and guess what it was. Now everything’s cool thank you!
Awesome Walter, I’m so glad it worked and saved you time and money 😊 I hope you’ll click here to support us by joining our Channel: ruclips.net/channel/UCGpInAejvpfVVE4FHB_L-Dgjoin
Awesome video. I'll give this a try. Makes sense.
Best of luck😊
2001 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax. Had the Brake and ABS lights coming on together for past couple years, most of the time, but not always. The issue seemed to get worse over time. Scanned and found an ABS code for the ABS module. I tried cleaning the ground, but that did not work. I removed the ABS module, opened it up, and re-soldered the main connections (power and solenoid coil connections). Lights have not come back on since the repair. Appears as though there was a cracked solder joint, and reflowing the joints fixed it.
Wow,
Great info. Kurt😊
Just seeing this in "24" i will b trying this👍🏽
Please let us know how it goes 😊
You fixed my truck! Thanks bud!!!
Glad to help😊
Thanks for your video my brake abs and esc light are on car has no codes and everything else is fine even had it in different shops I'm hoping this is my issue as well thanks again 😀
Thanks Lisa. I bet cleaning that ground connection will fix it.
did you have a soft pedal that would go to the floor, or just the warning light
Just the light. Soft pedal needs the brake lines flushed out to get the air bubbles out.
My trucks rotted to hell under there, good old alberta winters, definitely gonna do this before anything else, thanks alot, hadn't considered this as a problem
I betcha it works👍
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance idk, my pedal goes right to the floor when running, but there's abit of pressure when the key is off
Where would you find the ground wires on a 2008 chev Equinox? I'm having the same problem with both lights coming on ABS and Bake.
It might be in that same place, 1 foot back from the driver’s side front tire.
Thanx a bunch buddy , im gonna try this on my 03 Silverado.
Please let us know how it goes.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance Yezz zirr, will do.👍🤠
Awesome video men you save mi life!!
Awesome, thank you👍
Is it okay to drive with the lights on. I checked the brake fluid and it's fine
ABS light and Brake light both are on in my 99 Silverado. Tried cleaning the ground good, but they’re still on.
Shoot, can you try it once more?
How does the brake pedal feel?
Superb presentation of very useful information.
Thanks so Much Jeff😊😊
Thank you for this video. Just saved me 1700 dollars
On my gmc the both lights came on and last night thank god I was parking at home and my break peddle hit the floor and i now see that the driver side rear wheel has brake fluid all over it, is it an easy fix ?
That ones is a bit tricky. I wonder if the brake line near that wheel has a crack? Good thing you were just parking.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance yes it does and the line is on top of the frame behind the wiring harness but underneath the body and it cracked right at the clip to hold the wire and line in.
Gotcha,
Sounds like it’s time to order that whole brake line part, then install it, add new brake fluid and bleed the brake system of all air bubbles👍. Your GMC dealer should have that break line on hand.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance thank you I’ll order it right now
Where do those ground cables connect in the engine bay????
How many years did GM attach the grounding bolts at that location Sir ???
I’m not sure,
Seems like not the best place due to corrosion from the road.
I totally agree with you Sir. YOU would think better thinking would of happened. @@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance
I put the ebcm from my 2003 in my 2000 which had a 0251 code. The codes went away but the abs light still stays on even with no codes thrown. What could this be?
Hey David,
Maybe the ground shown in the video just needs cleaning 👍
Cool , my truck does that , a/c will not work while those lights are illuminated, turn off truck , turn back on and everything back to normal
Nice job👍
I know what I'm doing tomorrow, thanks!
Good luck!👍
So in my 05 GMC Sierra it’s leaking from the Ecbm and it’s rotting in not sure what I should do, replace it and bleed the system??
have a 2003 model hummer h2 fault light is on but there is no error code in OBD device
I bet it’s due to this bad ground 👍
I have a 2007 Chevy Work Truck. My A/C want blow when my brake lights are on in the dash. Do you know what might be wrong? When the lights go off, the A/C blows again. The first light that came on in my dash was airbag light.
There’s a corroded ground bolt somewhere.
Worked like a charm! Thank you for the tip!
Thanks Ken👍😊
Is the truck drivable when this happens my truck feels like it went into limp mode could it be tranny issues ? but no check engine for me just the service brake system, abs light and e brake light any ideas ? thank you ! great video !
You have an output shaft seal/bushing bad.
Sera igual con una GMC envoy 2003
Yes,
I think it’s the same.
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately didn't work for me.
Thanks for trying.
Might be good to have the dealer check the brake system.
VarineVet Garage this ground cleaning worked for me. But then the next day I was back to a no crank no start with the same 'Service Brake System' error. Did you ever find out what was wrong with your truck?
@@yota87truck yes. After I went through all that trouble, it ended up being my brakes. I replace my rotors and break pads and the issue went away. I would start by checking your beak pads
That work perfectly
Thanks Jacob😊👍
Yeah so I would like to know if your lights ever came back on after this. When my lights come on I can turn the truck off and restart and they will go out but eventually they come back on.
Mine did the same.
Cleaning the ground fixed it👍
My brake pedal isn’t hard, my dads said he’ll need to flush sometimes to get the air out so could it be just that?
That does sound like you have some error that’s leaked into the brake lines.
It would be good to flush out all that error in add new brake fluid.
The question is how did air leak into the system?
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance we changed the back purge break thing as well was front calipers so that’s probably why. But ever since I commented i haven’t had indication pop up.
Funny hearing you say how unclean that connection is. I live in the rust belt, so to me your truck looks near brand new, lol.
😂😂😂👍
that's a clean truck. where are you?
Thank you,
We’re in Pinole Ca.
Thanks, it did worked.
I know you know what you’re doing because of the cardboard box laid on the ground. Thanks.
Yep, cardboard is Awesome 😊
Braking system baking what is it
I can’t seem to find those connections on my 01 gmc Sonoma 4.3
Thank u
You’re welcome 👍
Work perfect...after a shop charged $85 to say brakes are fine it must be a bad sensor!
Awesome,
Thanks Dan😊✨
Omg thank you
You are very welcome😊👍
Thank you so much
You’re very welcome 👍
My brake light isn't coming on when I press it in most of the time. Could that be the same issue or something else?
Did you ever fix it??
Excellent
Thanks Mark😊
Yeah my brake fluid was empty😅✌
I’m glad you checked it👍
I mean even if you decide not to do anything. It won't hurt nothing. It's just annoying to see it on.
It usually works 😊👍
I have a 2000 Silverado but only has one wire..

Thanks Again,

Hey man, its happening to mine has it ever came back on
It did when I went through a powerful car wash.
Then the lights went back off again
Did that but lights dint go away
Might actually be a problem with the ABS brake system.
Mine turned on after it snowed.. could that be reason it’s on?
Highly likely that the salt used to curb the snow problem has caused corrosion on that ground wire below your GMC.
I would pull that wire and clean all the corrosion really well and I think the problem will go away.
My brake warning light flashes and beeps constantly when in motion
Can you send this same question to my email so I can help you?
Scottthefixitguy@yahoo.com
I changed out the abs module and the lights still on
Clean the grounds also
Try the brake fluid level sensor, I just wiggled mine around and the service brake system light went off.
I just looked it does need cleaned and the bolt is gone.
