this character definitely looks like he could have been in Arcane, the colors, the demeanor, hell, even the hair! I know he's inspired by more Disney aspects but the art style just fits so well.
It’s interesting how much of your 3d process translates to 2d. When you’re talking about adding detail to chunks of hair (around 14:45), that’s exactly what a lot of 2d artists do. We carve out bigger chunks and then split those forms to create detail. Same with the face.
To me he gives more DreamWorks vibes than Disney vibes, but he looks REALLY cool! love the design! ^u^ He's like a 1900s veterinarian hehe XD like, he took care of your great grandpa's dog or something
The 2D was more Disney inspired but when you turn it into 3D with such direct translation is loses the similarity since their 2D and 3D styles aren't identical and it looks more like how DreamWorks does 3D.
@@dothedo3667 yeah, I get that. I'm more used to watching both Disney and DreamWorks 3D movies but yeah. (DreamWorks actually has different art styles for 3D i noticed)
Watching the process of making 3D art is so fascinating and interesting to me! Seeing a chunk of "digital clay" to a whole character or to a piece of art is so amazing!
It's really cool how the facial expression looked really creepy until you made the very subtle changes to the symmetry in the face, which then made it look much more charming and natural. I've never thought about how off-putting an entirely symmetrical expression looks.
I love that u mentioned the real time this artwork took .. cuz the internet is full of time-lapse videos that makes u feel bad about your skills .. Thank you !❤️
I can imagine him talking about a pet that just recovered from an illness and is going finally to their owners. like him being really optimistic and silly it would be really fun
This was honestly so therapeutic. I really feel like I needed to hear a lot of the stuff you said at the start about how creating art is a long process and that it can look really weird and bad when you start but it’s important to lay down those basic things before adding the details. And how it can be easy to expect things to be perfect really quick because of speed paints and stuff. I’ve been struggling a lot with impatience in my own process and feeling disappointed in my skills when my art doesn’t look as good as I want it to immediately, so watching this video was like a refreshing art lesson haha. Immediately subscribed, thank you!
great blender render! the lighting definitely softens him. he looks like scamander but warm and extroverted. iirc they both work with animals/fantastic beasties. great work!
i really appreciate your emphasis on the amount of time these things actually take! art is such a long process most of the time and there's such a push from social media for things to be instantaneous. absolutely beautiful sculpt, makes me want to get back into 3d art!
this is absolutely stunning. Though, there's something about 2D that can't be quite captured in 3D, but im not sure what. Though, this is absolutely beautiful. Kudos on your talent, its insane that you can work in a 3D space. I could never.
I would die if Disney would ever make a male veterinarian protagonist!! Tbh I never really know that I need something like this until I saw this video in my recommendations!!
personally I am very much a 2D artist and I very rarely venture into 3D mediums, but I just wanna say this video is so well made, the commentary was insightful and I found your process to be very interesting! Also I love how the model came out, I just know if he was a full fledged character he would be my favorite in whatever show/movie he came out of :P
I remember how I kept worrying about how slow I was in art, and the remembered that some speedpaints usually end saying they made it for 16 hours to mulitple days lol
Even tho I don't sculp, seeing every video of yours justs relaxes me and inspires me to do so! This is sooo well done, and even tho I know the feeling of small changes during a progress of improving, it really matters at the end, every single detail that you get to do better everytime works, and that is shown through your vids! Very well done
He reminds me of the guy from Atlantis, Milo I think? Looks awesome!
I've noticed Woody in this character's smile. But I better leave your thoughts.
Milo is also a gym leader in Pokèmon sword and shield. He has a grass type gym

@@byrond.garcia7406 omg he really does
Not really. The coloring, shading, and design all don't really fit in Arcane. They'd fit better in Disney.
@@WitheringAurora I know! It's just a fun idea, the style of character design just seems like it'd fit in Arcane

True... I do that too!!
yup!! It’s pretty interesting how 3d and 2d kinda go hand in hand with some things

Our brains are programmed to find symmetry attractive, but there's a limit to how symmetrical a face can be before it's uncanny. Biology is so cool.

Mega cutie. Ultra cutie. Adorbs. Beautiful. Amazing. Absolute cutie.
