I own a 2006 Neo Blue BF MKII XR6 NA owned it for 10yrs now n I love it. It had 144,000ks on the clock now has 181,000ks my roof lining has been replaced with a black lining, n I wanna say now as the lining ages heat causes the foam to deteriorate and fall away this is common in ALL cars...
The things I don't like or I think are the down points..
* The ignition barrel has a tendency to break the return spring lug or just outright fall apart n they're a b***h to replace
* Front brake rotors tend to warp with heavy braking,
* The handbrake frequently falls out of adjustment n again is a b***h to get to and adjust
* The plastic upper radiator hose fitting may break in time causing the hose to pop off resulting in overheating and the need for a new radiator
* The bushes are soft and wear out too fast within around 150,000ks depending on your driving (Ford sacrificed harder longer wearing bushes for comfort) this is a pain in the a$$ for handling as they age and uneven tire wear,
* I don't like the rubber handbrake shroud they decay in the sun and wear down too easily,
* The silver inserts in the doors the door handles (and lock button) the dash spears the gear selector and gear selector surround peel with time and heat,
* The outer door window trims (rubber on alloy backing) also peel with time and heat @$100ea to replace and yea the obvious top coat clear peel...
Other wise she's a great car n I love it
There is a very simple way to deal with any uneven tyre wear; you can rotate your tyres. Front to rear if they're directional and even diagonally if they're not.
That's the one. Rotate each service.
Great video fellas. Picking up a BA XR6 NA in Phantom Purple tomorrow. So stoked. Your video was a huge part of my choice in vehicle. Keep up with the content :)
Wasnt expecting such an astute conversation about the car. Watched the whole thing and enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing!
I’d say definitely a great video glad we got to see it from your perspective, car is beautiful definitely enjoy the color 👌
If ya drive a ford , please dont wear a woggy chain .
brother has had an xr6T for 13 years, just the normal problems still runs great. IM getting a xr6 ute when i move
Thanks, good video and many of those pro’s and cons carried over for the remainder of the falcons.
I am a big fan of the n/a xr6. I know there is a lot of love for the turbo and the xr8, and I have owned and driven each of those variants.
So when it came to the Fgx I went n/a xr6. The n/a xr6 ‘s are well balanced cars to drive. Whilst they are a slow car for the track, they offer a lot in the steering and the low end torque is basic DNA for the Falcon.
Did u get a 6speed auto

Yes the roof sagging has always been a problem with the Aussie Fords and Holdens. Also a problem with some Mitsubishi and BMW too.
It’s because of the heat
@@hevnle yes so you think that those manufacturers would change their method etc. Most manufacturers don't have this problem.
@aspiring aspie exactly I live in New Zealand where it’s a lot colder then aus so we don’t really get the roof sagging problem
@@hevnle I drove a BF MKII for several years in Victoria; I never had the sagging roof issue. That being said, given it was a fairly common problem (especially for those who lived in more humid climates) some engineering time and money should have been spent to fix this issue!
I just bought one and love it more then my au xr6
I've just moved from a 2000 AUII Fairmont to a BA m2. the 2 things I immediately dislike is the lack of a power/economy button in the BA, & I find the drivers door armrest is way too low. I keep falling over trying to rest my elbow !!
However, i'm 43 & disabled with M/S, so going from a lowered AU with sports suspension to a stock BA is an extreme increase in ride comfort, & easier for me to get in & out of.
Still, I have ALWAYS struggled to get comfortable in falcon seats. What's up with that.
Just move the shifter over to the left slot when in drive to get performance mode
The lack of the TCS on/off button is the main killer.
On the tyre wear your meant to rotate your back to front left to right to get even tyre wear
6 minutes in....I gather you know what you're saying....but I think you need some notes. You're mixing your key points. E.g yes the falcon is a large car so there for it's spacious. You're saying it's large because it's a sedan. It's. It large because it's a sedan. It's large because it's a large car. You're comparing it with a compact Renault. A front wheel drive sedan or a crossover with the same external dimensions of the Falcon will have more cabin and luggage space than the Falcon. But yes you know what you're saying... you're just mixing your key points up.
I put in a deposit for a 2006 BF MII Fairmont done 147,000km.
I currently have a 4WD and it's costing me a fortune on diesel and finance weekly.
Is the BF Fairmont MKII good and reliable and will a tank of petrol last me a week?
Your advice on these cars will be appreciated.
BF Fairmount MKII is definitely a good and reliable car, as per every car as long as you keep it maintained with regular servicing and what not.
Fuel wise depending on distance traveled and how chill or spirted your driving is should still definitely last you a week
@@dylanquigley8468 thank you for your comment, much appreciated.
I will take Torque over HP anyday.
I csnt wait to get my new one soon 😍 this time absolutely no skids I need it to last even though they'll go forever it just costs money to make them look nice again so rather not anymore :(
Sounds exciting bro! Have fun with it!
Doesn't the XR6T and XR8 have a LSD unlike the XR6 of this year? The BARRA XR6 always had the same amount of power as the base model Falcon of the same year
My mum has a silver ba xr6 and my dad loves Holden he has an 02' monaro
Can anyone help me do the 2007 bf mkII xr6 have traction control button the one I’m lookin at to buy doesn’t seem to have a button
It should have one…
If It did it would be located left side of the steering wheel, above the fog light button
The only reason it wont have one is that it is a BF XT etc to an XR6 conversion which is cosmetic changes (apart from suspension). All BF XR variants have standard TC
The great big Aussie sedan died....because not enough people were buying them.... Companies want profitable world wide cars and platforms. People are buying smaller crossovers that offer the same amount of space with added height and practicality. The Ute market have taken some of the share too now having more family orientated creature comforts and practicalities etc.
@@aussiepomIm guilty of that bought a mint 380, 2nd hand😅.
I have a BA Falcon. The uneven tire wear is a common problem with this generation of Falcon
I haven’t seen it too much with mine yet but haven’t had it long enough either to really say
@@thatorangexr6guy241 it's to do with the worn bushes on these I think? that wear out and need replacing at as little as 50,000km.
Aspiring Aspie Thats a very good point, its why when mine are done for ill be trying to upgrade them so they last longer
I have BFii XT with ESP pack ie 17" Alloys and ZF. I put 34 psi this ensures even tread wear. Had the car for 6.5 years.
I run 39psi in my 380 to stop it understeering on the way to the shops.
Question is do you regret buying a BA xr6? Only asking as planning on buying a Mk ll xr6 haha
Dylan still owns it, and still loves it. You can find his socials in the description and chuck him a message yourself if you like.
I have no regrets at all for buying a Ba xr6! Absolutely love driving it and owning it
Great work!!!! Love it 🧡
I don't what MX5 you have? I had a NA MX5.... that was a smooth ride with factory standard suspension. Smoother than my friends NB MX5 in terms of dampening.
This is a 2005 Mk11? I have a 2003 with the 4 SPD. I just use it as a cruiser. Yeah that extra gear or two would be nicer, but it doesn't need it. The peak power curve and torque curve is different with between the 03 and 05, so that may be a reason even though the 05 has a slight nudge more power. In 2006 they changed to the 6 speed auto.
Correct its 2005 BA MKII, they only came out with the 6 SPD as of the BF models
I have driven a BF with the six speed auto and i find it goes well but in terms of the 4 speed they still do they job very well up to 4 gear, 4th is more of an over drive gear i find
@@thatorangexr6guy241 you're correct. My mistake. Both the BA Mk11 and BF were sold in 2005/2006
@@thatorangexr6guy241 yup I've heard the 6spd, goes well....especially for economy, but not as well as the 4spd for durability.
Aspiring Aspie i have heard that as well, but i have been recommended to get an external trans cooler cause the falcon gear boxes dont have the best cooling system
@@thatorangexr6guy241 i was gonna say, i didnt realise it was a BA, my BF XT is a 6 speed auto haha
Does that guy not know that to even the wear out you have to swap the tyres from the front to the resr
If you are going to buy the XR6 non turbo then get it with the Tremec 6-speed manual. Why automatic? Might as well grabbed a TE50 or TS50 or a Falcon XR8.
Scrotum Monster because the manuals are extremely hard to come by for a fair price, and most of the manuals came with the turbo and supercharged versions not the stock standard xrs
No way you drove past my dads buisness
sweet lookin is300 ya got there bud
Your XR6 sound system and leather wrapped steering wheel and gear shifters is not standard. It's a factory added option
I believe the premium sound systems is a factory added option but as for the steering wheel and the gear shift that is set across the bored
@@thatorangexr6guy241 correct about the premium sound system
That fukin god awful bug deflector at the front of the bonnet is a pretty big con. So is the climate control / radio panel.
Pros
- Barra engine.
- room for friends and shopping (sedan and wagon)
- insane power to weight and ability to easilly beat motorcycles (ute and one tonner)
- comfortable interior
Fords are 6 inch wider across the base compared to Holden so it’s Ford that made it spacious
Great video just need a little bit more consistency
I don't know about your seats. My my XR6 has leather interior. The seats with leather are very supportive. I feel the leather is better than my Honda Civic from the same era. The leather doesn't even compare with the Mercedes Benz E class from the same era with softness etc.
Pretty sure the different materials is a factory option mine are just a material but with orange print
I find they are still pretty supportive
@@thatorangexr6guy241 yes your print is the XR6 standard tyre print
With the color coded interior/exterior. Mitsubishi and the holden commodore did the same thing. It's kinda cool in a retro novelty way. I'd prefer not to have it. In alot of the colors it looks ugly... especially with the prints. I do like your orange red exterior, just not so much in the interior.
The interior pattern on this XR6 model is a tyre tread
"Ford focused more on the engine and the mechanics more than anything".....more like the styling and engineering.
My 03 doesn't have traction control. They added traction control to the Mk11 XR6. It would be nice to have. Not much traction in the wet.
The traction control is very nice to have but can be annoying at times
hows that an issue
@@aidan5720 how's that an issue not having much traction in the wet??
@@aidan5720 it's a pain when pulling out of intersection in the wet. I was following my neighbors 06 model and he pulled out of the intersection Soo quickly! I had to wait for a bigger gap and take my time.
@@aspiringaspie3280 just do mad drifts
those streets look familiar
I use them in all my videos haha
Roof lining is no biggy, I re covered mine myself. Took just a couple of hours
This isn’t a Tickford last XR6 was series 3 AU Falcons
No one said it was a tickford
this car is now on FB market place
Nah it’s not
Oh no a four speed ! Why did they ever do that?
Literally the exact words that were in my head
Jayzcee Graham luckily they are okay four speeds better than the older ones
They were lagging behind in that department compared to other cars transmissions at the time. They revised it with the BF a few years later by adding a 6 Speed Auto box
Do the BTR 4 speed free performance upgrade, I have with both my BA MK2 XR6, & FPV BA MK2 GT-P, turn the grub screw on theT5 Solenoid a quarter or half a turn = loads better faster performance, there are RUclips vids about how to do it, easy as fck, or google it, its a different trans afterwards
Why are young people into Falcons now?
20 years ago they were the preserve of the middle aged and up and Commodores were the only large family cars the young wanted to be seen in.
Could it be that they're taxi image has been taken over by the Camry?
I always favoured Ford over Holden btw, but not really a fan of the BA/BF. Way prefer the AUII both in body and engine.
I've seen a few being driven by slightly older questionable types lately. They're snapping up early 2000s Magna 3.5s left right and centre now as they provide power on a shoestring.
I have heard the 380 is a hidden gem despite not making a splash on the marketplace when new.
Front wheel drive is probably the main factor regards youth. Same reason you don't see Camry V6s and Avalons being feverishly acquired by that demographic even though they're super refined rockets.
@@jamesfrench7299 Idk about rockets. They are just smaller cars than the falcadores so are a bit lighter.
@@lukesm5747 Which, together with shorter gearing, makes them rockets.
The Lotus Elise has an unremarkable four cylinder engine, but it's a performance car precisely because of its light weight.
There’s always been people into falcons what are you talking about.
@@lvpo8866 by always do you mean year zero (2010)?
Stone guard in the bonet looks silly.
Each to there own, i mean the car looks different now compared to the video, all windows have visors now so doesn’t look so out of place anymore
Is it a bf or ba?
Ba MKII
Yeah good job you can read a brochure
