The EL GT looks different from other EL’s. The BA GT looks a bit to much the same as and XR8 apart from the wing. I think the EL was also from a time when ford owned Jaguar. An underrated car and a great buy once apron a time.
I've got the 97 DL LTD in Heritage Green, which was about the same price as the GT new at around $70k, but with less power and performance and more leg room in the rear and space in the boot. Not to mention, the DL continues to depreciate in value, whereas the GT keeps appreciating. I've also got an S1 AU wagon which has essentially the same suspension as the EL series. Then when I hit like 23 I started getting into BMW & BENZ & Audi. Owned M3 & M4 and 335IS. AMG and RS cars. Some of my favorite driving cars in the world. But just too unreliable. So after years of dumping money into cars to just keep them on thr road so I wanted to try a V8 American muscle for the first time. Then I bought a 2017 Chevrolet SS Sedan/Holden Commodore SS. @@RossReviewsau I know a person who has one in mint condition and with less than 40k on the clock. They don't drive it much, bought it as an investment.
Looks here n there . In hindsight ,....20/20 vision its a tribute to the originals . It will hold the old 100mph all day with more comfort. A practical ride hide to boot. A mile eater. A GTS/R competitor it is not. Nor was it intended to be . Soft n swift.
Easily in the top 5 ugliest cars in history, a true Frankenstein monstrosity! Hideous! Disgusting! Revolting! Enough to put you off your food! i want one!!!!!
Very good car but the the front of them is hideous. Which is compounded by the EL XR6/8 being a simple and classy looking design. A variation on the XR nose with the twin side bonnet vents combined with the rest of the kit would've been a classy look.
For me the EB GT had a cohesive look to it whereas the EL GT for my eyes is just hideous to look at. It may be an acquired taste but it's a taste I have no intentions of acquiring. Only 272 were ever made and to me that's 272 too many. It's "bitza' GT with bits form here and bits from there stuck on a Falcon body. Put an EL GT next to and XY GTHO and the EL GT looks like an imposter. I know I'm in a tiny minority but to my eyes it's a horrible looking car.
Ford sales plummeted when the AU come out , the car itself was ok just nobody liked the headlights or the grill , it was competing with the vt commodore at the time .
Glenn, you’re completely right about that. Also, when I mentioned the styling I was referring to the overall body shape which would carry through to the BA and BF. The AU certainly wasn’t loved at the time but has since proven itself to be among the most reliable Australian cars, with many examples easily clocking over 400,000. Also, in recent years there has been a greater appreciation of the car due to this and the fact that they can be sourced easily and at an affordable price. So I can see where you are coming from, but considering the fact that the AU was the next best thing to a Barra Falcon, I reckon it deserves appreciation. 👍🏻

yep, the EL GT, is not easy on the eyes, coming from someone who thought the AU was ok, even the waterfall grill looked ok in my book.
It’s definitely the most head scratching design I’ve seen from Ford Australia
Always loved the el gt, guy had one down the road from me..same colour.
There was nothing really special about them performance wise
Unfortunately not eh.. just a “wild” body kit
It's on the front of the Need for Speed III cover from 1998 or so
That’s very cool I didn’t know that

It's a wine red taxi with some tupperware. The budget would have been skinny.
🥲🥲🥲🥲💀 savage AF lol
$143,000 taxi in 2023 money.
I'd love to import one to the U.K.
Those shifts are moist and flowing
💦💦💦
Like it. El always thought looked good. But yer not for everyone. Great to c em movin. Cheers ross
I hate how the shifter is a bit to far forward feels uncomfortable to shift. Otherwise it’s a nice car
Still better than auto 😅
It was the start of the AU Falcon
Yup can see it in the interior
There's an EL GT for sale on carsales in WA for 87k.
damn
Ross says he loves all the old falcons and even "commodores"
I almost unsubscribed when I heard the commodore part hahahahaha, just kidding mate, love ya work love the reviews always
Cant wait to see the next
Gotta love em both especially now that they are both gone 🥲🇦🇺
Love the content mate but please make your videos louder. Cheers

😅🇦🇺
It's a shame it didn't use a 351 windsor
That would have been cool to see
How much would one be worth with low kms?
just depends on how much someone's willing to pay
@@RossReviewsau I know a person who has one in mint condition and with less than 40k on the clock. They don't drive it much, bought it as an investment.
Beautiful car in its day 👌 you would of needed a fat wallet off the show room floor 👍
Big time eh🤑🤑🤑
Looks here n there . In hindsight ,....20/20 vision its a tribute to the originals . It will hold the old 100mph all day with more comfort. A practical ride hide to boot. A mile eater. A GTS/R competitor it is not. Nor was it intended to be . Soft n swift.
Who would have thunk 😅😅💀 nice review dude, not much information or videos about these
Probably the only one on RUclips 😅🇦🇺
Just beautiful very nice
🙏
250 were built in the EL GT model
Cheers for the info

Has any one herd of special order 21 el 5.0 302
That a one off special version EL XR8 ?
Easily in the top 5 ugliest cars in history, a true Frankenstein monstrosity! Hideous! Disgusting! Revolting! Enough to put you off your food!
i want one!!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣 I have to agree
The slowest car in NFS 3: Hot Pursuit 😂😂😂😂
why are you down here?
Was filming reviews

Nice
Sry but it looks like an eBay build. The only good thing that Ford Australia did was chuck a turbo on an in-line six.
Definitely an acquired taste
Redlining that old girl, would have given it the good old 'Italian tuneup'..
😂 she wasn’t firing quite right I reckon she had more to give just maybe some old fuel
so weird watching you drive these sick as cars on the same road i take to work everyday
🤣 few more reviews incoming on that road yet😉
They dropped the pie on this what a disaster, probably the the same clowns that designed the AU!
🥲🥲🥲🥲
On today's TV there was an ugliest dog award lol
🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀 savage
you'd know you were the winner pmsl.....hehe
Still looks great , worst ford AU hands down .
Gotta disagree with you there mate. I reckon things went downhill after the XE and the AU turned it round in terms of styling and performance. 👍🏻
Ford sales plummeted when the AU come out , the car itself was ok just nobody liked the headlights or the grill , it was competing with the vt commodore at the time .
I gotta disagree also.. love my AU
