I stopped skating (50 years worth) at 57 because I got very ill and the doctor suggested staying away from the rink. I'm now 69 and I won't live long unless I go back to skating. My blood pressure was always low until I stopped, and now I use a small dose of medicine to keep it at 120/80. I wish to kick the medicine after a year if I can. I have outstanding skates, but when I tried them on my wooden floor I scared myself with no balance. Ten minutes later I was doing okay. The next move is the rink, but I have enough sense to go in the afternoon to avoid the speed skaters. If you've skated before and quit, go back because you can avoid many health problems to have your muscles, balance, and breathing back to an earlier age.

I quit skating when I was a kid (about 11). I was actually pretty good at it. Now at the age of 71, I rented some skates and tried it again, thinking I would be able to skate. That was a fail, as I had a hard time standing up. I worked at it and worked at it and was able to skate at a very rookie level. I then bought some rollerblades and have been skating the last 2 months 3 times a week an hour at a time. I usually go around the rink 50 times. My skating is much improved, and I have lost 12 pounds. I enjoy myself very much. I wish I never quit, but here I am skating and loving it.

Skating to me is an addiction. I love it. I have many decades ice skating, including pond hockey. I have been Inline Skating since the mid 80s when the craze first started. I am a senior citizen & will never stop. I believe without a doubt- I have the sweetest fanciest most expensive Roller Hockey Skates on planet Earth. Where is my favorite place I've ever Rollerbladed ? From The base of the Bay Bridge to Pier 39 to visit the Seals & back.......Silky smooth cement the whole way. 5 miles round trip. $ Billion Dollar View.

I roller skated at The Terrace from age 6 until Moving to Cambridge in the 80s. I went to this rink a few years ago and it was wonderful to skate again,,, right up until I fell and wound up with a broken femur. I'm 63 now and ready to go skating again. What I miss most is the "couples waltz". That & the music

Hey City! This was great to see! I've been searching for a long time, hoping to find some old footage of The Terrace on Mutual Street in Toronto. There was never a more beautiful floor to Roller Skate on anywhere. I skated there until the very last day!
Have you got anything? Please help inspire us all!

43 and broke my wrist 3 weeks into learning how to skate. Wondered if I’m “too old” to try again. Other people have said I’m too old. This motivates me to keep going and staying active for as long as I can 🫶🏽

I am an old geezer still skating. Please try again. I have been a skating instructor since the 80s.....Put some equipment on. Especially wrist guards. Lace 'em up and walk on a rug to get your bearing & balance straight. Watch some youtube videos for pointers. Skates should be shoulder width apart, a little wider even better. Get that center of gravity low. Bend those knees. Your toes, knees and shoulders should line up as you look down to your skates. This is the 'Ready Position'. Find an indoor rink and get to it. No Rink - find a tennis court or the smoothest surface you can spot around town. If your Man says 'No Way' get a new fella.

@@matt75hooper thank you for the advice and encouragement! It’s deeply appreciated and I’m happy to share that I skated today for the first time since my injury. It was awesome!
