Great video, didn’t learn anything new as such but reassuring to know we are doing the right things. Top tip from me is indeed to get out in the van at least one or two weekends per month and we’ve had some fantastic trips away, freezing outside and toasty warm inside. We use Rainbow screens for the windscreen and the pop top, highly recommended. Those switchbots look very interesting.
Another useful device for keeping the pop top warm is either buying or making a snorkel that directs heat from the grill in the B pillar. Used ours recently in North Wales and it was toastie up there.
I have both internal window covers and the external window cab covers. Although in still weather the external covers are good, I found that in windy weather, particularly if you are parked up next to a beach, the sand or other grit blown by the wind, gets underneath the covers and scratches the paintwork. They can also be very noisy flapping about. I won't use my external covers in predicted windy weather because of this and always use the internal ones instead, when it is windy. As for pop top thermal covers, I would not use them, again in windy wet weather, if you have to bail out and drop the pop-top, you can't do it from inside your nice dry and warm van. You have to get outside, removing the thermal screen first, getting drenched, before you can finally drop the pop top. Just turn the heating up, is my advice.Switchbot.
Switchbot Just bought a water tank cleaner treatment after this. I also had no idea you could open the tank from inside… and that tip about the washer fluid. All great tips! Thank you

I live in Aberdeenshire so have the heated windscreen as an extra and will sort out winter tyres etc ..switchbot..Thankagain for the videos..

Thanks for these latest tips - rather than hooking up to trickle charge the battery I use a small solar panel charger placed on the dashboard & connected via the OBD socket. Oh, and by the way....Switchbot !
We tend to use our camper throughout the year, even if it’s just taking out for an afternoon run every month. We don’t use the fresh water tanks in winter but buy one of those big water bottles from the supermarket and use that for drinks etc. if you are taking the handbrake off (we just drop the handle down a notch) then best to chock the wheels as well as leaving it in gear.
Switchboard. Love the advice today, I do like to get away in winter, even for days out. I live in South Wales and pop down to the pembroke coast in my old T5 van. Enjoy yourselves in your lovely new van 😊
Switchbot. We are hoping to collect our van before Christmas, after at 16 month wait, so there will be lots of winter camping until the novelty wears off 🥶🚐. Some fantastic tips on winter I would recommend a Ctek battery charger to keep the battery in tip top condition. Very easy to use and excellent customer service. A Switchbot sounds like a fantastic bit of kit.

Switchbot looks good useful advise for us as just got delivery of our new motorhome so any information is a great help .Cant wait to see your video with your new addition .My husband doesnt do pets so its nice to see people who do . So jealous .
There are now some really great all season tyres as an option, some are rated for the European winter requirements but not all, they are well suited to our climate. The switchbot thermometer looks cool and is definitely an idea I will follow up. We do now have our California (as of 28th Oct) which is almost the spec twin of yours. We have, however, had it converted to VB air suspension for several reasons including easier access for elderly parents, the ride is also a massive improvement. We had the VB suspension and a few other upgrades (dashcam and alpine sound) done at Exploria in Brighouse who unlike most suspension fitters do almost exclusively T series VW 5-6.1. It was great to feel the difference between the drive up and the return journey. I think there are several other companies in the north that fit the suspension but it was great to get the other bits done at the same time by a company that does so many different conversions, I can recommend them to anyone around the north of england.
Switchbot is a good device. Maybe also for the greenhouse! Some good tips for winterisation. Hadn’t thought about increasing tyre pressure - that’s a first. As a reminder, and to aid leaving the handbrake off, good to use wheel chocks.
Hi some really useful tips that we hadn’t really considered especially using the diesel heater. The switchbot looks like a really useful bit of kit and must admit always been a sucker for new tech.
Some great tips there Will as we approach our second winter for vanning. Temperatures have been so mild this Autumn but no doubt we're all gonna pay for it come December, January and February! Good quality thermals, preferably Merino wool. Same with hat, scarf, socks and gloves. Hat in the van will make an instant difference.
