Freezing winter van camping in Lake District

- No winter storm on this camper van camp site trip, just freezing temperatures and sunrises... perfect!
We slept in the poptop of our VW California.
Braithwaite in North Cumbria was our destination for Alan's birthday weekend with a hike to Force Crag mine along Coledale beck and a good test for our winter bedding set up.
Our evening ended perfectly in the pub with Erdinger beer and good pub grub.
We love winter camping, a hard frost on the ground, bird song in the morning and a sunrise at an acceptable hour of the day, makes it easy to have a lazy morning, coffee and sausages to fuel a days hiking.
We were asked to test out some bedding which incorporates NASA designed technology, called Aerogel.
It's brought to the market by a company called Biigloo who currently have a kickstarter campaign.
We agreed with this company, if it's no good, we won't mention it but it was freakishly good! We've tested out numerous down options over the years which perform really well but this stuff performs even better so, it has the Moochers seal of approval!

Stop genre nicking (wtf 🤦🏻♂😂) we stayed a couple of times at Skiddaw view in a static, did Skiddaw. Will camp now we have the van, so that looks like a good spot. Love dem views 👍🍻

WOW didn’t know it’d been there that long!
View from barrow is great for such a small fell, with options to carry on further 👌🏼

Have you guys not got a diesel heater?
We have but we don’t use it while we’re sleeping plus, it doesn’t offer much when you’re in the poptop.
Looked like a great spot for a weekend stay - nice walk and amazing scenery as always in the Lakes. Looking forward to seeing the new companion. Griff is on the edge of the sofa and waiting....

Great video again, we are heading to the Lakes in March and booked into Brotherswater camp site following your recommendation. Looking forward to it! We are also heading to Scotland for the NC500 in May then down into Europe to the Alps in July. Your drone footage is amazing, what type of drone do you have or would recommend? Im looking for something with is good quality but wont break the bank, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Jon
Brotherswater is a great choice, you won’t regret it!!
I now use a DJI mini 3 pro but I used to use the mini 1 which isn’t as good of course but, certainly good enough.
The mini 2 could be a good option as it has 4K resolution, RAW photographs etc.

Keswick is amazing but it’s definitely a good feeling to escape the hustle and bustle, yet be close by if you need it.

Love the video they're very cinematic. Can't say I enjoyed that site too much but the pub was great. A66 just a bit too close to it. How does it work with you guys? Are you out at the weekends or do you go for weeks on end site to site?

You’re right, it is very close to the A66 and you can hear the traffic but it sounds more like background noise rather than a disruption.
We work full time so we try to get away for weekends and holidays as much as possible, one day it’ll be full time exploring 🤞🏼

How dare you hijack another persons genre!! 😆 I'm surprised at how violated some people can feel over a vlog title. I had to watch this vlog in two parts. The first part I shared with Sparky with a cup of tea on Monday morning. I then saw it was 06:30 and I was supposed to be on the M54 en-route to a residential course!!! Shiiiiittt... two hours later and I'm queuing on the M6, late! How dare you hijack my mornings. The second part I watched with a coffee, in my lodgings. I will show Sparky that site when I see her, as she loves that part of the world. I hope your collection went well yesterday and you managed to get some sleep last night. It’s definitely a site worth visiting. It doesn’t feel remote as you’re near the A66 but the surroundings are stunning, facilities on site are up to any wife’s standards.
