  • My first wild camp above 3,000 feet and it did not disappoint. Starting off at Seathwaite Farm I headed up the path adjacent to Grains Gill heading for Esk Hause, from here I headed up to Ill crag where I made the decision to check out Scafell Pike via Broad Crag.
    I then went back to Ill Crag to set up for the night.
    I hope you enjoyed this wild camp and i’ll see you on the next 1.

    Ace that mate & to be heading up onto ill crag for a camp in winter with less than a years experience is dam good going..fair old rock field up among that lot but to be up among the big boys is where its at..last time I was up there i ended up on great end for a second time & theres a cracking little grass shelf on the west side with excellent views of ennerdale & the gables..
    Takes some years & visits to learn the lay of the land up there & to recognise the skyline helps when you've completed all 214 Wainwright's though 😉
    Keep at it pal & stay safe..Andy..

      Nice 1 Andy, means a lot to receive a positive comment like this from you. I have been watching your videos from the start of my ( short ) wild camping experience and you have certainly taught me a thing or 2 from watching the vids.
      I have been up Great End on a previous vid with intentions to camp but was struggling to stand with the wind so didn’t want to attempt the camp so dropped down lower, but i’ll certainly be back up there in calmer weather in search for this grass shelf on the west side, sounds like a cracking spot 👍🏼
      Thanks for the comment mate.
      Stay Safe.

    You getting water from a stream reminds me of the story of the posh southerner just about to drink out of a Dales stream. “Tha munt drink watter theer, this a dead sheep in it up t’ thill”, said the farmer. “What’s that you’re trying to say you interfering old man”, says the southerer, churlishly. Farmer relies in his best Queen’s English, “Sorry, I was saying, you’d do better cupping two hands to get a better drink” Beautiful scenery, no, sorry, bloody magnificent. You made me interested why there are so many boulders up there. I knew that it was glacial in the valleys. It seems up top there it’s rocks being consistently wet, frozen, ice expanding and cracking them, over millennia. You learn summat every day it seems.

I take a snap box with pork pies and sausage rolls on hikes. Really hope the channel grows over the next year, you've come a long way. I did exactly the same on Scafell. Another great trip young man, you have crammed a lot in since you started so well done Liam . I am curious , how come you are Tommy 2 whistles ??? Is one for the birds and Raving and one for the Mountain Rescue ???? It's a good thing that you carry one for sure. I always carry one and i wear it around my neck just in case you have to drop the pack to get yourself out of a difficult situation...i.e you take a fall on steep ground and its a difficult scramble back up especially if you get injured also if you wear it around your neck and next to your body then you can buy one with a pea in it which are a lot louder and the pea won't freeze up if its not exposed. Also do you know you can register with 999 for sending emergency text messages ?

    • @GoodBlokeOutdoors
      @GoodBlokeOutdoors  Год назад +1

      Thanks Olan, Not sure why I have 2 whistles, I will take 1 off and wear it around my neck though deffo, incase I don’t have my pack on me.
      No I didn’t know that about 999 text..
      I know on my new iPhone you can set up a SOS thing like the Garmins have for when there is no service / signal. So thats quite handy.

      @Olan... Год назад

      @@GoodBlokeOutdoors you just text the word register to 999.......thats good about the iPhone . I can't bring myself to get the contract for a more sophisticated gadget like one of the In Reach things and i am not knocking them because they are life savers but nothing beats treating mountains and al that mother nature can throw at you with respect and building up a solid knowledge base and old school navigation skills and like you mentioned Dave and Andy's familiarisation with the surrounding features because all that stuff isn't going to let you down if the battery runs out.
