    Walking and interacting with the truck is something ATS and ETS REEEEAAAAALLLLLY needs. And the amount of slide on that seat is very realistic. I have driven trucks that had a seat slide distance of about 2 inches. Not fun when you are tall or short.

    Pretty much everything you did in this video is in a real CDL exam, at least in the United States. I had a 53' trailer when I did mine and had to parallel park it. It's like the length of your vehicle + 10 feet or something like that is what you get.
    But the one you did where you have to S back, the examiner will usually flip a coin or the computer will assign you a side, left or right back, that decides if it's blindsided or not

    Jeff! I've been driving trucks for over 3 years now, and the VERY first thing I learned, was that when hooking up a trailer, REMEMBER! PAL: Pin, Air lines, THEN landing gear! And LAP for unhooking! Landing gear, AIR LINES, then pull the pin! This is to help prevent you from dropping the trailer with the legs up, which could damage the gear and even your truck! This will also always help you remember your air lines as well, other wise you could rip them off when dropping a trailer, or look like a dummy trying to pull a trailer with the brakes set. =P

    I saw this and I was suuuper excited when it was first revealed. I've always wanted to drive truck in Australia. I've been driving Super-B up here in Canada for almost a year now so I'm used to longer trucks.

  • @HaefentheZebra
    @HaefentheZebra 2 года назад

    "We're teaching ourselves to be unsafe." Having been a truck driver, that's the industry for you. Back when I was doing my test for my CDL I was doing fine, no cones hit, no issues on the walk around. Was on the road test portion and the test giver suddenly pointed at a stop light up ahead and told me. "Take a left up at that light, if you don't make it before it's red you fail." So I dropped gear and we went swinging around that corner so fast the simulated load which was just tons of junk metal shifted to one side.
    Dumb as fuck, but I made the light and got my license. Then you learn about how Driver Managers constantly want you to pull the unsafest BS all the time.

  • @vitman2409
    @vitman2409 4 месяца назад

    21:38 in situations like these you should always make it the easiest way possible if there are more ways to park the trailer. When I was about where you are at that very second, I just hit forward gear and went around to the left like I drove in a roundabout and left again to line up the trailer nicely with the zone and then just went straight back. Works in real life too ;)

    Jeff, you'd be suprised how strict Australias trucking industry is, my dad wanted to be a truck driver when he was in his 30's but even though he did pretty well on his learners test for his truck licence he hit 3 cones in the last test and that alone failed him, (he is in his 60's now so it may be different) and also, alot of the trucks you see here have triple axels on them

    • @SmithRoyal
      @SmithRoyal 2 года назад +1

      America is one cone! They limit the amount of times you can “pull up” the truck to try and line yourself up with the spots for parking. They make you parallel park a truck and 53ft trailer, without hitting a single cone, and you can only pull up two times 🤣 the rules and tests here in America are way stricter than they used to be

    • @SmithRoyal
      @SmithRoyal 2 года назад +1

      One cone is a fail* is what I meant. You can’t hit any cones at all or you fail. That could be a backing maneuver such a blindside alley dock. And they limit the amount of times you can get out and look to see how you are lined up on difficult maneuvers where you can’t see out of the truck mirrors

  • @BlueDually4x4
    @BlueDually4x4 2 года назад +2

    It does look promising, but the air brake valve animations are backwards. And unless you talk with old drivers or people who love old trucks, most don't know at one time trucks had three air brake valves. The timer is a little short, but you have to remember ATS and ETS are long haul focused. All those odd parking tests are things short haul or local delivery drives do all the time. You get into construction, trash, agriculture, logging, mining or truss delivery like I do and most OTR drives start having anxiety attacks with the places we take trucks.
    I would say that likely being a right-hand drive is giving you more grief than trailer length or axle count. As that does take a little getting used too, its even worse if the truck is standup drive. I loathed that damn sideload Peterbilt.

    • @ThatToast
      @ThatToast 2 года назад

      I had a guy deliver my dump truck that could not for the life of him figure out how to use the three valves, he told me he ended up just pressing all three to get it to move lol. I told him its pretty simple blue is tractor and yellow is both. typical hot shot driver for you though
