I was born in Laos and know lives in the US. I visited Vietnam last year and don't care much about the big city like Honi too busy for me. We first stop in Danang which I love it! the people are very kind and tourist friendly. We went up to Sapa and love it too. I am glad you have a great experience in Vietnam. I prefer Vietnam, Thailand verse Laos.
I watched you when you were living in Chiang Mai, and you really did live on almost nothing! But one of the things I like about Thailand over Vietnam is that I am one of those people who doesn't enjoy the chaos. Not even being able to cross a street stresses me out too much! Maybe living in the country would be okay, but I prefer Thailand if I live in Asia. I prefer Europe, even if it's more expensive (it's less expensive if you don't stay in the big cities).
I did not realize that it was relatively safe to live in Asia. I would like to know which is your favourite Asian country if you do have a fav. May God bless and protect you, Niki. ❤️🇨🇦
Been in South East Asia 12 years and much safer than Western countries. You need to travel to see reality rather than believe all the propaganda about Asia. It's a beautiful and progressive place.
Do read my comment with regards to safety in Asia. It is amazing what western propaganda media can do to influence many. I love travelling and travel widely but it is a shame that for now, I make a conscious effort to not travel to USA and South America for safety reasons. Even in big cities in Europe, daily petty crimes eg. pickpocket is something to watch out for. Asia, on the other hand, is very safe at least for the majority of the countries eg. Singapore, China, Japan, S. Korea, HK and Taiwan, etc.
I live in the US. Despite what you may have heard about us I feel safe here. I can go for a walk at night without fear. I don't need to lock my door. Yes it is true there are more dangerous places but in most communities things are pretty good. And for medical emergencies this is a great place. If I need help emergency services are second to none. Response time in most places is really good. We spend tax money to have a robust police force, fire departments, and hospitals. Does it cost more? Yes, and more than it should. Is it worth it? Hell yeah. Medical emergency services have saved the lives of my friends and family members, where they would have died in Asia, without a doubt. Just my opinion.
Yep, I agree. So many people are quick to jump on the US is bad bandwagon, even when they’ve never been to really know. Like you, I feel safe where I live in the 4th largest city in the US. I even live in the city center. I love to travel and visit other places, and I’ve been to some of the most fabulous cities in the world, if going by popular opinion, but I still prefer the city I live in. It is home for me, for many reasons.
@wespeakforthetrees USA is so big, and people are on social media just focusing on some stupid incidents. A lot was not even in the USA. I have lived in three different countries and USA is the best. Xi Jinping's only daughter has been here since 2010.
Agree. I see that a lot of the anti-U.S. comments are made by people who have never lived in -- or even visited-- the U.S. In addition to several years in Europe, I lived in Asia for almost 10 years (and loved every minute of it) and the students I met who would bad mouth the U.S. were mainly those who were denied a tourist or student visa and base their bias on that negative experience. From how he speaks English, I highly doubt he ever spent time in the U.S. For a worldly person, his clickbait title is rather irresponsible. He should only be comparing life in Asia to his life in Russia.
‘Home is the place where, when you have to go there, They have to take you in. ”From Robert Frost's 1915 poem, "The Death of the Hired Man," the moral and practical dilemma facing a farm couple, themselves just getting by, is what to do about old Silas - we would now call him a homeless person. Silas, who has worked as a hired hand on their farm unreliably and one too many times, has returned to them worn out, addled of mind and exhausted of heart.
Many places in Chicago will make a sandwich with your lunch. It’s advertised as a Banh Mi sandwich and it is the most amazing lunch ever ! Also our Vietnamese restaurants have “Vietnamese coffee” they fill a glass with a bit of condensed milk and then place a small coffee filter on top, fill with coffee grounds and then pour over hot water… allow the water to seep through grounds and into cup of condensed milk … it’s amazing!
@@VuQuang1973 Good point. I feel the same here in Portugal. We have many people coming as digital nomads or retired from other countries with higher salaries but for locals working locally it's much, much harder to make a living.

I love Asian food (especially Thai) but when i've been there a while i reallly miss dairy products like milk, cheese and butter and also bread ....and the only way you can buy is them is to pay through the nose ....Eg a 250g wheel of Président Camembert cheese imported from from Europe which costs £2.60 ($3.25) here in England , costs £10 or $12.50 in Thailand and locally-produced cheese is quite frankly inedible and the milk tastes funny like it has been reconstituted from powdered milk

Hi Niki, I'm pretty sure that the herbs you had on a plate at the restaurant are Thai basil. It's nice if you just put it into your soup or whatever other Vietnamese dish you might be eating. :)
Niki, I think you would love LATIN. AMERICA too. It has a lot of similarities to East / SE Asia. It’s inexpensive, it’s very different than Europe, it has a lot of historical charm that US/Canada doesn’t have, the people are extremely friendly, many countries have great food, etc! For urban living, several cities in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and others are great. For less urban living (beaches or nature), Costa Rica, México, Colombia, Caribbean, etc
@@justducky196 they are in certain areas of certain countries, but where most tourist or big cities it’s not a problem. They are usually found in mountainous village areas or in the Amazon jungle. What I am getting at is that there is very little chance you would be interested in spending time in the areas that the cartels are located in. It’s really no different than the US. Pick a major city, and even the popular cities people love to go as tourist have neighborhoods that have extremely high homicide rates, but you won’t be going to neighborhoods
@@NikiProshin you would love it. I would be happy to share more information on specific places that I’ve loved. It really does. Remind me in many ways, Asia, especially south east Asia. One difference I would say is that in Latin America? They like to have a lot more festivals and parties.
@@justducky196hi, I haven't been there but accdg to RUclipsrs (and even their locals) - don't go or be very careful in Colombia. There have been many cases of tourists being drugged & robbed. It's so amazingly beautiful all around. Unbelievable. I think I have to come somewhere there. Absolutely the best trip of my life was Philippines - soo beautiful nature and people. ❤ I'll always cherish that memory - snorkling in clear waters, swimming in waterfalls, all the amazing bougainvilleas and other flowers, early morning walks on the beach, watching the fishermen at work, roosters crowing, dogs just laying under the moped car, butterfly sanctuary, chaotic market place, and the people - oh, the people. One more: Whitney Houston singing outside somewhere there (really a nighttime karaoke outside - they are unbelievably talented singers) while just swimming and listening to the gekkoes [tok-koe-tok-koe-tok-koe] on the walls.. Memorizing all that made me so terribly wanting to come back! ❤
Postcard It looks very green there, which I like. You are right about the cost of things in Asia. I went to Thailand and my friend and I were able to easily afford to buy lunch from the noodle shop for everyone in the family. Here in the USA I pay the same amount for one noodle soup meal. Now I am hungry for pho!
What you say is accurate. I live in the Philippines. But before that, I spent 20 years in the USA. Only visit the USA if you want to see the sights and be a tourist. But to live there is expensive. The entire place is designed to drain money from you in a thousand ways big and small. Having a child there will cost you a fortune. Getting a house there will open you up to a thousand little cuts. Even apartments now cost a lot of money and they charge you for every little thing. God forbid you keep a pet. They will want to make it as costly as possible to care for an animal. I am an American, but I prefer to live/tour around in Asia. As you said, wherever we are, we are HOME.
The greens with the soup looked like Thai basil, but sometimes called red basil due to stem color and might also be called Vietnamese basil in Vietnam. Since all I really need is a small decent home w/ A/C, good Internet and convenient shopping/restaurants, I’ve considered some Asian countries for retirement (I’m in the US).
Hi, if you're a senior, consider health insurance and medical facilities too (distance to a good hospital). Being in the mountains or on an island may be nice, but what if you need medical care? (points to ponder) Good luck!
Hi Niki, I enjoy dicovering your travels in Asia but also your introspective trip. So go drink a coffee again and continue to take the time to watch the cloud of milk slowly mixing with the coffee ...
I have lived too many places to count and I have always lived by the lyrics of a great song "Anyplace I Hang My Hat is Home". You seem to think the same way. However, I am definitly a westerner. Asia does not appeal to me at all. I am not into nature, and the humidity, heat, insects and everything else is not for me. However, chacun a son gout. That being said, I am very much enjoying your videos since you moved to Vietnam and am so happy that you are happy!
not "grass" -- you could say "herbs"/"basil" (because it looks like it's mostly the herb "basil" there) or maybe even "greens" but we say "greens" for things like lettuces, kale, chard, spinach, etc.
I could 100% see myself moving to Da Lat (from the US) when I retire. A less hot, chill Vietnam vibe sounds f'n brilliant. Only worry is the food. In my experience Vietnam is not a very vegetarian friendly country. Even vegetable dishes usually contain fish sauce, no? As for this video? What eye candy it is. Niki's camera work and editing has become so mature and "delicious".

I lived i Korea and loved it. But that was back in the 70's and Korea was very different, still a little undeveloped and very traditional. I think saying Asia is not taking into consideration how different the countries are. Japan and Vietnam are very different for example. My friends tell me now I might like Vietnam better than Korea. Your Vietnam videos make me think maybe it's so.
I always like your videos. You're taking me places I've never been and will not visit myself. I'm a little bit PLUS older than you and like a more organized life. When I was your age there were not even computers. A calculator were expensive and we completed difficult maths, etc. without that luxury. My stomach won't manage those foods. I used to send postcards to friends all over the world and received from them. Can't do it anymore as we don't have a postal service at all. (1) strikes = people don't work and prevent others from working usually for a salary increase. Businesses had to find ways to get accounts and letters to clients. E-mail worked fine. (2) Corruption. I won't say more as it become boring. South African wishes to you.
I'm back in the postcard raffle this time! Hope I win! Dalat looks so beautiful. I started following you during one of your pandemic St Petersburg grocery shops and even made one myself (I'm Canadian). But grocery shops aside, I love your content and your vibe

It's cheap for you to live there because you make Western wages. The locals have to struggle and grind to make the average monthly salary of about $304 USD. Factor in expenses and a spouse and children, that $1.50 cup of coconut coffee is a rare luxury.

Just missed the premier. Count me as another one who was worried about your safety in Russia. Your whole demeanor is so much more relaxed in the VN videos. Can hardly wait to see what you post from where you're visiting and maybe win a postcard.
It feels so much more relaxing in Vietnam as well as in other countries I've been to recently (except Georgia maybe)
Thanks, love your videos.
Thank you Iyam!
I did not realize that it was relatively safe to live in Asia. I would like to know which is your favourite Asian country if you do have a fav. May God bless and protect you, Niki. ❤️🇨🇦
That's why I wanted to mention the safety part! Quite a few people don't realise that. My fav places across Asia: Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, Dalat
Commenting for the algor, LOVE these videos Niki
@8:22 the "grass" is actually Thai Basil... I think your supposed to put the basil in the soup as it has a licorice flavor!
Yes, you have a point there. I see what you mean. I am an Asian, who lived in the US, now live in Europe. I also love Asia.
@@wespeakforthetrees Yeah, I found this to be quite a shallow and disappointing take by Niki.
Happy you found a place for you.
Nonsense
I like Lin's answer to why she lives in Vietnam.
You look happy and well fed 😊. Stay safe 💗.
You make your money where you live. Living there is cheaper and nicer. Fully agree. Not possible with my job though :) Enjoy life!
Let’s make the same money that ordinary Asian people make and tell us you love living in Asia.
@@VuQuang1973 Good point. I feel the same here in Portugal. We have many people coming as digital nomads or retired from other countries with higher salaries but for locals working locally it's much, much harder to make a living.
Postcard! I enjoy your videos and look forward to them each week.
Another interesting video.
Postcard! 😊 I love watching your videos, and seeing and learning new things about the countries you visit. Take care.
Hi Niki, I love that you share your travels with us. I used to move around a lot when I was younger but have been pretty housebound since 2020. I would love a postcard from you =)
Funny how you touched on your mental discoveries. I have been thinking you seem to be at peace or comfortable in your body now. Or perhaps more mature since your holiday with your mum. Your friends seem to be a healthy variety to live with.
It's so lovely out there! Stay safe, Niki, and enjoy your life!
I want to come there and have this experience. Thanks for the video!
Wow, no comments ? Will help you with the algorithm; 8:22 ".... and some kind of grass... " 🤣 looks like Thai basil or Asian basil often served with Pho. Good sound track selection! 👍
Hi. It's not Pho, it's Bo Kho, a type of beef stew - diff ingredients than pho & the soup is thicker. Re: the leaves, yes that's Thai or Vietnamese basil.
@@kitty_s23456 yes, we get that Thai basil with the pho we get is what I wrote. Looking forward to trying Bo Kho.
@@thepaperboy9009 if ever you're in Saigon (HCMC), go to the Street Food Market. It's like an outdoor food court & the stalls are clean. There was a stall there selling bo kho. Cheers & safe travels.
@@kitty_s23456 ❤ Yes, will absolutely do!
Spasiba Nikki ❤
Postcard please! I absolutely love your videos. You have inspired me. I might be almost 62, but I am going to travel someday. Until then, please continue to take me along with you. Sending you virtual hugs from New Jersey, 🇺🇸.
Thank you Debby, greetings from Vietnam!
You seem very peaceful there! Postcard
Your housemates seem like really fun and interesting people. I'd love to receive a postcard!
Live the postcard idea, enjoying the videos as well
That is the most amazing coffee shop I have ever seen. I would go to Vietnam just to hang out there.
Very safe as long as you don't have to cross the road.
You just follow how the locals do it. Easy.
and as long as you don't ride a scooter
@@NikiProshin I got hit three times by electric scooters in shanghai, all of them in pedestial walks.
Nice vlog, spice leaves with soup looks like basel, glad to see you looking happy and healthy. Thai basel famous spice leaf throughout the world.
Disappointingly short list of nations right now that don’t feel like they aren’t on the brink of tearing themselves , or a neighbor apart at any moment. Stay safe, Niki
Wonderful video Niki! I'm glad you gave your mental and physical health top priority over anything eles. As you mentioned, yes burnout. It happens to many of us. You do look happier. It really shows and I'm happy for you. It looks so nice where you're living now in Dalat. Maybe someday you will get a chance to visit the state's...but I can see you really love and are comfortable living in Dalat. Currently in the US, it's very expensive. Price's are sky high for groceries, gas, and rents are crazy. Alot of other issue's as well that I won't get into. Great job on this video! Interesting and fun to watch! As always it was nice to see you! Welcome Back and take care.❤❤❤😊
talk to the Almighty for mental health He is listening! dont use repeditive prayers, use your own thoughts and feelings
I think I might enjoy traveling across the US but not sure when I'll be ready to go there. Thank you Lori!
@@NikiProshin❤❤❤😊
This is beautiful!
Very much consistent with my experience
I have visited many Asian countries also. I love your videos!
Great video Niki, happy to see you are doing ok.
Hello Niki! I love your videos, keep them coming! I would love a postcard!
Hi Niki, "POSTCARD" Sorry, didn't mean to yell. I've been following and very much , enjoying your vids for years. Keep up the good work! Thank You. From CA, U.S.A. 😁
It looks like your life there is really peaceful and happy! I’m so glad you are enjoying your friends and the city you live in. I would love a postcard from you! ❤
Hi Niki. In America we call “red and green lights” traffic lights, we also call “zebras” crosswalks. JIC 😊
Crosswalk is a new word for me, and I just forgot the word for traffic lights 😅
Truly do enjoy your videos. It’s so tropical and luscious.
Is this their summer season?
How cold does it get in the winter season?
Great vlog, thank you!
They have two seasons of the year in Vietnam: rainy and dry. No specific divide intro summers and winters here. It's warm (or hot) all year round
Thank you for another entertaining video and for sharing your life with all of us. I wish I were younger and I'd join you! I would love to receive a postcard. Have a nice weekend!
Thank you PoofyPuff, best wishes from Asia!
... always nice energy from you, Niki!
Hi Niki, I'm pretty sure that the herbs you had on a plate at the restaurant are Thai basil. It's nice if you just put it into your soup or whatever other Vietnamese dish you might be eating. :)
Has a sort of licorice taste
Basic, that should be it!
I really want to go to Latin American countries. But I heard there are many drug criminals and mafia criminals there. Is that true?
I guess I'd enjoy slow-traveling there a lot, it's in my list to go
@@justducky196 they are in certain areas of certain countries, but where most tourist or big cities it’s not a problem.
Google scopalamine & being "scoped" in Colombia.
There have also been troubles in Ecuador (but I think it's overall getting better), so pick your country/ countries and do your research. Also, it would be good to learn a bit of Spanish. Safe travels.
Lovely video.
So glad you are doing well. I enjoy all your videos, including your videos of Russia.
I am hungry for pho too! Last time the cafe was closed and I couldn't have that!
Great video love your house 🏠 mates 😀
Great video ❤👍☕️
Thank you Roland!
Thank you for showing us around that lovely city Niki. I am really wanting to visit Vietnam now. That soup looked delicious!
You seem so much more relaxed there
The greens with the soup looked like Thai basil, but sometimes called red basil due to stem color and might also be called Vietnamese basil in Vietnam.
I always enjoy your videos and would love to get a postcard from Vietnam.
Hi Niki, I enjoy dicovering your travels in Asia but also your introspective trip. So go drink a coffee again and continue to take the time to watch the cloud of milk slowly mixing with the coffee ...
Thank you very much, Roland! The clouds of milk, nice :)
Nice place to live! ❤
Any place I hang my hat is home, I like this!
not "grass" -- you could say "herbs"/"basil" (because it looks like it's mostly the herb "basil" there) or maybe even "greens" but we say "greens" for things like lettuces, kale, chard, spinach, etc.
Herbs, that's right! I often forget this word and just say "grass" instead. I gotta remember it next time. Or at least use "greens"
Asia is a very different place as time seems to be slower than anywhere in the world. I'm glad that you enjoy life at your own pace. 👍🙏👍
Very informative. 👍
🧋🧉🍹Loved this video! Niki & Roommates 😍☀️😍
Wow, I won the postcard raffle! It must be my lucky day or week - so cool! 😎 It's only the 2nd time that I've won a raffle, ever, so it feels great. I'll email you my address shortly.
I hope you video your trips when you make those visa runs. I've visited mainland Asia several times and I like experiencing the differences in land border crossings. Cheers! Take care & safe travels.
I am concerned about health care, it's easier when you're young. You can only feel safe if you are aware of your environment. Be good.
Hi Niki, thank you for sharing this video with us. I would like a post card
Hi Niki! I just wanted to say hi and thank you for the great videos! I truly enjoy all of them! Have sent you an insta message also. Safe and healthy travels to you! Best regards, Paul John 😅
It's cheap for you to live there because you make Western wages. The locals have to struggle and grind to make the average monthly salary of about $304 USD. Factor in expenses and a spouse and children, that $1.50 cup of coconut coffee is a rare luxury.
Hi, I´m an Wolga-German, but I grew up in Germany. My parents often mention how they would like to move back to russia. I would love a postcard, where you tell them it´s a horrible idea. :D
You should try Mexico NiKi. You will love it there! 🇲🇽
