I don't care much about Zelos. It's not that they don't produce good watches. It's just the "feeding frenzy" aspect of how they do things that doesn't appeal to me. I don't like feeling pressured to buy something just because it might run out. It's not fun when watch collecting and buying becomes a competitive sport.
The company has been increasing the number of watches for each release, to address this very problem.
Keeping you in a hurry always means that the other side is trying to scam you.
Agreed, They make an amazing watch but I'm so over these hypbeast watches the last few years, not just from Zelos but overall. Honestly the NH34 hit the market and you can get some great watches with it in the back for way less than Zelos is charging (granted yes they use a high beat Miyota but still) and those watches are available.
My feelings exactly.
I dont mind limited runs, but I agree that having to refresh the page to buy a watch at the second it launches is not how I want to have my buying experience. That said, the frenzy for Zelos watches is often limited to the most popular dials and I have two Zelos, both that I bought about 2-3 weeks after that initial launch. In both cases, more than half the dial options had sold out, but the ones I liked were still available, and it was before the prices increased after the first month.
Thanks for the heads up! On a tangent note, I love your background lighting. Up against the shoji, it reminds me of classic Japanese obake movies! 😉😁
Thanks Dave for the heads up, I’ve always missed the past drops, I got the Sky Blue Mako just as they went live, it didn’t last long. Looking forward for its arrival, as always keep up the awesome reviews👍
Clever and helpful updating the video title post-launch. Awesome work
So happy I was able to pickup the Zelos Hammered Orange, Frost GMT, and the Aventurine! New to watch collecting, but it fascinates me. I bought my first big boy watch over 10 years ago, Citizen Blue Angels Chrono, and still have it to this day. But have moved on since then. I now have a watch for every day of the month. All my watches are $2200 or below with my Hamilton Pilot Day Date Interstellar being my daily fav wear for the last 6 months. But absolutely can't wait to get the new Mako's. My first Zelos, just have to be patient for 3-4 weeks now!!!
I was debating as to whether to get the Aventurine or the orange one. I opted for the Aventurine but that thing sold out in less that 2 minutes so I ended up buying the orange instead.Supper happy with the purchase though, only bought it cause I saw this video so thanks Dave! Awesome❤🎉
I've got #74/200. Absolutely love the watch. Only have to gripes with the watch though. It definitely needs more AR Coating. The reflections sometimes are just insane, and the screws on the bracket. They were so tight, and then also trying to get them to screw back in was fun also. Seems like the machining needs to be looked at on the threads of the bracelet. Or possible its the pins. Who knows. But overall I'm so glad I was able to get one. And it also nice to know there are only 200 people on this entire earth that have the same watch. Now I only need to find the other 198. Ha.
Great review! I love this watch, and I love how Zelos continues to try and improve them with every release. Their dials are awesome to me making them one of the only brands I'd ever consider getting duplicate models in but with different dials.
These watches are too good for the money. I want one so bad. Great video, I really liked how the video on your computer plays broll while you talk, it’s a creative change from just leaving it paused onscreen like lots of other RUclipsrs
Thanks for the heads up Dave 👍.
Thank you for the review, hoping to be able to get one of the other watches but suspect it may get sold out within a few minutes so this one is my backup choice
Luckily I’ve just managed to bag a blacktip and cannot wait for it to arrive! Great video 😊
I had the hammered orange in my cart but changed my mind when I remembered Jody saying the AR coating was insufficient. No use having a cool dial if you cannot see it clearly due to glare.
Thanks for the link to the website they actually have some beautiful watches 😉👍
I really like the white dial … pressing glass to get a Zelos has a fun twist and excitement… I really think it’s only possible at a low price point
Very nice looking watch. And, great review/video as always.
....I question the 300m water resistance on that watch. Also, you're right! Those hands are too small. Missed opportunity to design cool, large hands.
I have the previous titanium mako, great watch! I'm looking at the gmt version but the lack of minute markers is a no go for me.
This looks beautifull!
Just bagged this exact model. Sweeeeet ❤
Beautiful Watch!!! I love it! 👍👍👍
I think this is a beautiful offering
Kinda dig it…the frost blue might be my choice if I can get one.
I love my Aurora, but similarly felt that the hands weren't the right proportion. My first Mako's hands never bugged me though, so hopefully the incoming GMT will be fine.
Great review. The orange dial is called the Hammerhead Orange.
Thank you!
Good 👍.
Another cool Zelos no doubt.
I was undecided between this orange one and the midnight blue.
Got the midnight blue, I think I will regret it tho 😔 this one looks amazing to me
Love the watchs just out of my price range.
im torn between this one and the sky blue variant
I'm tempted to pick this up because I could really use another travel case 🤔
I had to laugh at the new packaging, because surely someone who's enough of an enthusiast to be buying a Zelos already has a drawer full of the damn things.
the MOP turbine dial is crazy but no minute markers might just be the deal breaker to me
Happy holloween
Wanted the hammered orange one as it looks like a couple of my guitars. Alas, I was too late.
I’m a sucker for orange..😀
The intro music is such a banger. Track name ?
Last drop I had a watch in the basket I wanted to pay and all watches were just gone. 2-3 minutes after the launch... Crazy!!!
Exactly why I don't even bother anymore. Elshan shot himself in the foot with his strategy. He may sell out the very small quantity each run but he's rubbing a lot of us who would buy his product the wrong with this limited drop nonsense.
I prefer the Straum which I think began the hammered look.
I really like Zelos. But I never totally love their watches. I wanted to love the Frost GMT. Its so close, and it has a 9075, which I want. But something isn't quite right. Not even sure what it is.
EXACTLY my toughts. I usually blame the shiny and cheap looking logo or even the name of the brand itself. With that said, today I bought a second hand Mako V3 Ti Meteorite and it's so comfy and full of features that it kind of makes me forget these cons...you really should give it a chance :)
@@technoboy21 I own a Thresher GMT. Sadly, the Sellita needs servicing. Though I don't blame Zelos for that, the 1 year warranty for a nearly $1k watch is silly...
It does not have minute markers.
@@DanielRodriguez-tj5xx that would be the GMT.
I like refreshing their website during the drop, to see how fast each model sells out lol.
lol
Me too! The craziest ones are usually gone in 60 seconds!
Hot sale modal will sold out within 1 minute, I’m sure about it 😂
This happen every launch. So have fun to see the watch few seconds then no more 😂
The Aventurine variant sold out in the first minute. I will have to figure out how to type faster.
BASIC TITLE
I was looking for this comment. Lol
@@clipse64485 So was I... RUclips is nothing if not predictable..
Lots of design choices on these new releases that I'm not keen on.
The size of the hands, the case thickness - the GMT is over 16mm 😮 and no minute markers
thanks for that...there's no way my little wrist would like right with 16mm thick watch!
Don’t like the clasp being polished
Question to Zelosheads or whatever, what do you do with the packaging? I get that you might keep the first one, since it's a free travel roll, but if you are a re-ocurring customer? Do you throw it to the ocean?
I have several leather zip pouch and wooden cases, they’re just collecting dust as I don’t really use them. Yeah I wish there was an option to have them ship it barebones
I have 13 Zelos watches, and the packaging has changed many times, from various wooden boxes containing rolls or pouches, to metal boxes, to the new-for-this-release travel roll. All the current packaging is stored in a cupboard, in case I ever sell any of my watches, because people always want "full kit".
The boxes are great for storing art & crafts stuff and jewelry making supplies. My daughters can make good use of them and my cigar boxes, too. Re-purpose bro
@@monologic4806 Sorry I don't have kids
@@AnthonyLauder Yeah, that's true, good thinking. Do you remember which packaging each watch used?
Hey Dave im living in japan, i like your videos and watch collection, yesterday I discovered a. New brand named Vanbanner and i fell in love to their watches so check it out, greetings from Nishinomiya
👍
I wish Seiko would come out with a watch roll or case.
They did. It's a zippered pouch. I have one.
@@cdean9438 Was it one of those limited time offers because I’ve been looking everywhere. My wife was in Japan last month and couldn’t find one.
@@Frank-qs3pe I don't think it was. I see them pop up from time to time on eBay.
@@cdean9438 yeah I’ve looked there too. Thanks for your help Dean.Take care👍
The ones I've seen in the U.S. were always limited to a promotion via a chain store or sale on the Seiko USA site. I got a three slot storage box and a travel roll over the years.
Time is of the essence?!!!
Wait a minute, I see what you did there.
Snagged one!
HaHa! You fell for the hype! Sucker!
Reminds me of a basketball.
Very interesting but without knowing the weight of the watch (sized or unsized) I'm not rushing to buy it. Good review otherwise.
wow nice dail! Lovely watch.
Bought one, it arrived not working. They replaced it, i sold it. One was enough.
It looks nice, bit i have a bad experience with the Brand Zelos, I have a Bronze HammerHead and , they have poor quality control, my watch did not work well when it arrived, the hands are blocked and the manual charge does not work well😕
Dave! Don't go showing me that dial colour. No fair! My car's transmission died yesterday...
They look like Seiko copies with a nicer lumed bezel 😂
I thought I would check here to see if it was sold out yet.
It's pronounced Zeeelos
I like the signed crown and clasp that’s about it.
I absolutely hate this brand! They think they're Rolex, they're not! Always making very limited numbers of watches to make you think you're getting something special, you're not! They could easily hire a few more people to make more watches and easily meet demand.
I like Zelos' watches, but these limited-editions-only marketing scheme is rather crass and annoying. You either buy at the moment they're launched or tough noogies. Then, because Zelos is a high demand microbrand, the prices go up for the sold-out models. Heck, one could buy them for resale and usually make a few dollars if one wanted to be that way. I have a Steel Blue Zelos Comet and wear it as my everyday watch, and the asking price has doubled from what I paid for it. But, then again, on sites like eBay, many sellers are generally greedy and delusional.
Forcing someone to act promptly is the first sign of dealing with a scammer.
Honestly, it's an okay watch. Doesn't excite me....looks like ....meh. To each his own. The dial is the only thing different from other divers..and miyota vs seiko, aka Chevy versus Ford..or Audi vs BMW, etc....they both work fine. Good Review., It's just that the watch is not for me.
It's cool, but not 'gone in 20 minutes' cool
40 mm and 14 mm thick - too big for me even before knowing the price.
nice watches, but all sold out snd not available. So I am out and not interested
I hate Loctite! .I've worn numerous screwlink bracelets over the years, and never had a screw come out when not treated with Loctite. Every bracelet I've bought with the screws already Loctite'd have proven to be an absolute pain. I really can't see the point of the stuff! ................. Rant over😉
InB4Ban..... JK 😆
Size is good. Features are good. Except that gaudy, scaly, sandscape dial. The excitement of that crap is over as soon as it begins. Island Watch has tried it. Phoibos has tried it. Zelos and others have tried this outlandish color scape. It tries TOO HARD. And looks like something a college nerd sophomore would foist upon us seasoned buyers. It's TOO MUCH, and there's nothing you could wear short of a clown suit that it could mate with.
This sold out? It’s time for people to get a physical hobby oro a gf.
Meh
Nice but I can't pay that much for any watch that isn't titanium.
No offense but why should I watch a review of a watch that I cannot own?
The movement is not in-house, if I had to buy a seiko movement i better buy seiko watch which will stay true to original. The website doesn’t even show their head office address; big red flag for me
@@tngchinghwa I never said it’s a major brand. Stop putting your s h I t in others mouth. No point in buying a watch at that price when it has a third party movement. Have you ever bought online? Heard about trustworthy company? A company (doesn’t matter if it’s micro or a major player) with no contact details does not give the confidence to its customers. At that price I could get some good watches. Period
Way too much hype.
"Sleek organic design"
Let's be honest,it screams
I am mm 200,of all micro brands only CW has original
design,all others are just a
Seiko variations!!
I think they make nice watches and they’re probably good quality but they’re a brand that has rubbed me the wrong way. I just won’t be participating. I think they think too much of them selves. They’re probably all that and a bag of chips but I think I would rather put a Rolex on my wrist than a zelos And I’m not gonna do that either.
@@tngchinghwa not so much the watch itself but the company attitude. But at least the Rolex fan boys they actually have some heritage to be proud of the others are relying on hype. I know my opinions not popular, but it’s my opinion and I know the fan boys are coming at me I don’t care
@Peter My sentiments exactly! They think they're Rolex, they're not! Always trying to create this hype to buy their watches! Not a company I'm going to waste my time on!
@@sinjinadams2862 If they can do it more power to him but I’m just not gonna participate. The watches are good quality, but I know some other good quality watches I can get for less money. You could buy a Hamilton or something in that price range I have some thing with heritage not a Johnny come lately. Nothing against Micro brands. I just have a problem with microbramds that demand cachet like somebody that’s been in business for over 100 years.
Don't waste your money. Zelos is running out of ideas. They just play with dial designs only. Get a proper Seiko Prospex instead.
Lol yeah like someone wants a watch with a misaligned bezel
Seiko Prospex might be fine as a starter watch, but one you are past the beginner stage, you might want to move on to something a bit better, such as Zelos or other microbrands.
@@AnthonyLauderYou mean all of micro brands with the Seiko NH35 movements, lol?
@@jimwatchyyc 😂
I admit, it looks beautiful. And even if I don't fancy divers, I'd consider to buy one... but... for that price I'd expect to have a solar powered quartz movement and an atomic clock radio-receiver, not some mechanical toy inside. I can't even think anyone would waste money on such scam.
Nice trolling!
@@derbagger22 Trolling? No. Rather using the brain.
The watch industry is the only industry in the world which, on a massive scale, produces and sells obsolete and low level technology for a much bigger price than newer, 100s of times more superior technology.
It's basically a scam. And not many people actually realize it.
