  • A compilation of my stock footage clips showing the life cycle of the mosquito Culex pipiens - eggs, larvae, pupae, males & female hatching. Male Culex pipiens feed on nectar from flowers, females feed on blood from mostly bird hosts.
Filmed on a Panasonic Lumix GH4 camera using Sigma and Nikon macro lenses.

You should see the ways mosquitos are taken care of.
It's not what you would think. It's some straight up mad scientist stuff.
Like mutating them so they wouldn't develop into a mosquito or introducing a fungal type bacteria that causes them gut rot and explodes them from the Inside.
Or agitating their nervous system to the point of paralysis
Making them not want to land on any surface that's been treated.
Or straight up just making a layer of oil that prevents them from breathing or emerging into an adult mosquito because to them it's like there is a force field on the waters surface. So they eventually drown.
It's wild. But these things are deadly and nobody ever thinks about how bad they can actually be. Especially if there wasn't pest control people who strictly work to keeping them from spreading around like crazy.

As fascinating as it is they are still one of the worst threats to humans.
Before there was a mosquito control department there were parts of the USA that was literally uninhabitable.
You just couldn't live there because you would die from a virus the mosquitos would eventually give you.
In the 1800s there was a plague of yellow fever and people tried to leave but they couldn't and the more people that got the disease the worse it got because every mosquito that bit them became a carrier and spread it to more people.
Hundreds of people died a very bad death because of these things.
People don't think about it but if society fell there would be a mosquito epidemic that would quickly become one of the most deadly things next to starvation.
It's insane how bad these insects are.

I feel bad for mosquitoes. If in the past, that specific species that has malaria today had never been infected, they would be harmless and nobody would mind them. Malaria used to kill mosquitoes, but they evolved an immunity. Then Malaria began using mosquitoes as hosts to get into larger animals.

Friendly tip: One teaspoon of water can breed 100 mosquitos.
So check your yard and anything that holds water ESPECIALLY old tires. You need to empty them out because if you have a mosquito problem. Chances are they are breeding in some old bucket or tire and alot of species stay close to home. IE your yard.
Also. Minnows are your best friends against mosquitos.
If you can capture a bunch of minnows then you can release them into ponds and other things that hold water all year around.
Minnows eat mosquito larva. Remember that.

As horrible as mosquitos are, insects on the whole are so fascinating to observe at their different life stages. They go through so many phases with wildly different body types, but all perfectly suited for the temporary lifestyles they have to live. Philosophically, is a larval mosquito just a transitional phase to creating an adult mosquito, or is an adult mosquito just a vessel with which to create more mosquito larva? An alien seeing a single snapshot would never think the two are the same creature...life is a very strange thing.

Allah does not shy away from presenting a parable of a gnat, or something above it. As for those who believe, they know that it is the Truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, “What did Allah mean by this parable?” He misleads many by it, and He guides many by it, but He misleads none but the wrongdoers.
