  • "From Protest to Praise: My Heart Will Sing" is part two of a two-part spoken word series that delves into the journey of discovering a deeper understanding of praise.
It emphasizes the attitude of praise and worship that emerges after experiencing God's redemptive power and presence, even in the middle life's storms. By maintaining a posture of praise, regardless of circumstances, this piece reflects a matured faith that recognizes God's constant goodness and sovereignty, naturally bringing you from protest to praise.
From Protest to Praise: My Heart will Sing- Devotion
    Introduction:
Do you sometimes feel like we are just going through the motions, doing the right thing at the right time, hiding our faults, and showing only our good sides? Living a lie, a lie we thought was expected of us. Surviving, not living.
In these moments of realization, it’s easy to lose sight of God’s presence and promises. But what if we could transform our struggles into an act of worship? What if, instead of protesting our circumstances, we could praise God through them? By developing and maintaining a posture of praise, regardless of circumstances, our faith will mature and we will recognize God's constant goodness and sovereignty, naturally bringing us from protest to praise.
    Scripture Reading: Psalm 34:1-3 (NIV)
"I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together."
    Reflection:
In Psalm 34, David declares his commitment to praise God at all times, even when he is afflicted. This mirrors the journey from protest to praise, where we learn to worship God not just in good times but also in our struggles. When life feels overwhelming, remembering that God is in control and desires the best for us can transform our perspective. Praise becomes a powerful act of faith, affirming our trust in His sovereignty.
    Application:
Identify Your Protests: Take a moment to write down the areas in your life where you feel frustrated, angry, or disheartened.
Seek God’s Presence: Reflect on times when you’ve felt God’s presence and provision. How can remembering these moments help you in your current struggles?
Praise in the Storm: Challenge yourself to praise God in your current situation. Write or say aloud praises for who God is and His promises.
    Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being with me in every season of life. Help me to praise You not only in times of joy but also in times of hardship. Give me the strength to trust in Your goodness and sovereignty, and to see Your hand at work even in my struggles. Transform my heart to one of continual praise and worship. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
    Closing Thoughts:
This week, whenever you face a challenge, pause and choose to praise God. Let your heart shift from protest to praise, knowing that He is with you and for you. As you do, may you experience His peace and presence in a profound way.
Want a personal relationship with God?
If you have not already given your life to God and would like to do so, please say this simple prayer now:
"Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, and that you died on the cross to rescue me from sin and death, and to restore me to the Father. I acknowledge that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I repent of my sins and surrender my life to You. I invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Amen."
If you prayed this simple prayer, you have received salvation. You are justified, no longer under sin but now under grace. You are righteous and redeemed. I pray that you find a good Bible-based church and continue to pursue a personal relationship with God.
