Honestly I think the most underrated thing about these covers is the audio engineering and attention to playing style that must go into it to get all the tones, sounds, and effects as accurate as possible. It's not just about having somebody very competently play the bass, recorder, or whatever. The tones are spot on. The phrasing and attack is spot on. The reverb and other effects are spot on. I honestly don't know how you do it.
Thanks a lot! It's been a long process of learning from mistakes and ironing out all the things that I didn't like. Sometimes I cringe watching my old videos because they're not up to my current standards, but it's a good reminder of how far I've come. Looking forward to keep making them better too!
@@OrchestralFantasy Speaking of your "cringe" from older videos, I am SO HAPPY you re-did your Meridian Dance cover, it's a perfect example of your progress, and also competes for the best final boss theme of ANY game of ANY era (for me, it is only really outclassed by Dancing Mad). It's also an excellent example of what strikes me as a fairly rare turn in tone and structure compared to the vast majority of boss and final boss music in that it turns from sounding intense and dangerous powerfully heroic. Once that violin drops 55 seconds in... soooo damn good. Hardly a single other boss theme, final or otherwise, ever takes a moment to sound heroic (and Danger! is the same way).
@@OrchestralFantasy And yet your older video are already good, is just shows how far you've come. Congrats man, the only other musician on youtube I know that do something as good as you is Algal the bard IMO.
You’re the absolute best at rendering these compositions without changing too much and still making them feel both organic and close to the source material - looking forward to more from Terranigma
I would love to play a remake of Chrono Trigger wish the OST being replaced by all tracks you've done. That and FF VI are absolutely hitting me right in the nostalgia feels.
Definitely love the covers to some of my favorite games. I truly appreciate that you don't do much to mess with the original sound, and are basically just converting it from the old MIDI format into live sound. This is exactly the kind of stuff old video game nerds like me want!
Awwwh, you really captured that kinda sad lonely flute feel at 1:04 ! There was always something sweet and innocent about it, and you really nailed it!
Your compositions are so beautiful. The soundtracks of the games you choose were from a time when I was being ushered into my teens where I began experiencing the great "firsts" of my life. I'm instantly brought back to my living room when my family and I were still living together and the full spectrum of emotions of middle school were coming about. I had my whole life ahead of me, and I played without a care in the world. It was through this lens that allowed me to become fully absorbed in these games. I can't help getting teary-eyed listening. Thank for these amazing gifts Andrew, and for bringing back to us a piece of our innocence long lost to the burden of life.
Only two RUclips channels have shown that they can follow the legacy of Yasunori Mitsuda; PPF and these guys (in my opinion, at least.) Love the work, guys!
Your production quality is now absolutely on point. Your music has always been amazing but there's no flaws now in what you're putting out, it's just absolutely perfect. And i'm so glad you're doing so, because it feels like there used to be a bunch of big video game cover channels, that have now all but retired.
My dude!!! Good to see you back with another absolute banger!! I could never get enough of your impeccable work. Sorely looking forward to the next one ❤
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Todo es perfecto en este cover. Pinche cover precioso, pinche juego precioso. Chrono Trigger, mi juego favorito de toda la vida. 10000000000000000000/10
If there is going to be any kind of real remake of this game, I ABSOLUTELY want you to be part of it. Your covers have been inspiring me so much to do my own interpretations of tunes like these, and I cannot thank you enough for all the content you keep producing years after years. Love you from France, keep it up!
Seeing you pop up on my feed is always a delight, and to see a track I have so many good memories associated with makes it all the sweeter. Absolutely wonderful work!
I think my favorite thing about your work - beyond there finally being someone who does fantasy game covers justice without adding guitar solos and 'their own spin' on them - is how carefully and accurately you capture the spirit of the original songs and match their energy. I figure you probably don't take requests, but I hope someday you'll consider doing a cover of Lightning's Theme from FFXIII-- not the 'Blinded by Light' combat theme; the piano and strings one. I feel like you're the one ensemble that could really do it justice.
Thanks for the suggestions! The SNES era is the one closest to my heart, but I'm starting to run low on tracks exclusively from games I played in middle school, so I always appreciate finding out what other gems are in the next generation!
@@OrchestralFantasy - I feel that! My sisters bought FF4 ("2") for the SNES when I was six, and I'd kept pace with the series all the way up to 10. Not such a fan of the titles that came after FF9, though musically speaking there are some real hidden gems in the mix!
Seeing this upload made my day. You're a legend, man :) Not that I think you take requests or anything, but I'd be super happy to see an updated version on the Link to the Past credits theme as well as Beruga's Lab from Terranigma. Specifically hoping for a melancholy choir in the lab one, kind of like in your Mako Reactor song (sorry if this is insulting. It's just a bit of wishful thinking aloud). Only a precious few keep the spirit behind the classic videogame music that they revive, and you may just be the best in my humble opinion. You're criminally underrated, good sir. But know that the heart poured into your work is contagious enough to inspire me to tend to my own passions. I'm certain that I am not alone in this. So, thank you, sincerely, on behalf of those of us that your music reached.
The single most accurate to source live instrumentation of retro 32/16 bit out there. Hardly any other channel comes close. I'm curious what you have planned for your next covers, if anything is in stone? I'd love to see some less covered games get some attention. I have fond memories of Wizardry 1 on the NES but can't for the life of me find basically any covers or orchestrations, and that's just in recent memory for what I've searched for over the years, let alone some of the other classics of that and the SNES era, not even all of them RPGs or adventure games.
Another classic. This one has such a mystical forest vibe to it. Let's get this channel going. Make sure to comment. Throw in a like. But also reply to comments. It all helps.
I'm telling you, most underrated music cover RUclips channel out there. The mighty algorithm does you no justice.
Agreed. This channel deserves far more love than it gets.
Sorry! I don't watch RUclips content unless its a boring 2 hour long video essay or a 10 second unfunny meme clip
Even though the quality is top notch, the thumbnails for his videos don’t pull people in. The thumbnail for this video will achieve that I think
While Skibidi Toilet get 100 000 000 views per video. This algorythm need a punch in the face.
Talent just doesn't matter anymore.

I've actually been learning how to mix and master recently. It's so hard to do. This mix is perfect.

- How many instruments can you play?
- Yes.
Wow, best recommendation of the day
Happy 28 year anniversary for Chrono Trigger's US release! (August 11, 1995) ⏳⌛️🎪🤹♀️🎇

Yeah everything sounds with preserving 100% of the essence.

This is one of my favourite music related channel. And it's sooo underrated.
This is probably what Mitsuda was hearing in his head when he was composing this piece
Amazing rendition as always. I’m glad you’re still doing them. Initially I thought you were done or too busy.
Busier than I was hoping, hence the delays, but not so busy that I'm gonna stop!
Guy plays more instruments than Prince. Crazy talent!
Its my birthday today, as well as the birthday of the US release on Chrono Trigger. Thank you for this gift! Everyone, please have a blessed day!
Been a long time but the wait was worth it.
Awwwh, you really captured that kinda sad lonely flute feel at 1:04 ! There was always something sweet and innocent about it, and you really nailed it!
The most precise rendition I've ever heard. Its like I'm right there playing it for the first time again. Absolutely stunning.
Amazing rendition of one of my favorite classics, love the instrument choices
This song of nostalgia takes me back to my childhood. Right in front of a tv playing this gem.
The hero we need.
Commenting purely because 18.4 thousand subscribers is criminally too few.

Thanks for the kind words! That matches pretty much exactly with my feelings about this music.

That step delay on the recorder at 01:19 is such a minute detail. That's why you're the best!
I did the "hah!" whenever appropriate =)
Instant nostalgia flashback!
Killer rendition.
What a wonderful cover. Perfectly executed including the expected HAH ! 😁
Oh my goodness 🎉🎉
I can't believe they didn't make this earlier. I got so many goosebumps from the intro omg

Spot on!!!
It blew my mind at the trial when I tried to lie about eating the old man's lunch at the fair ... xD
I love how this guy keeps the feeling of the 16 bits original track
Is it known for sure which songs in Chrono Trigger were composed by Mitsuda and which by Uematsu?
Assuming this is accurate, vgmdb has a breakdown by track (just below the track listing): vgmdb.net/album/18

Oh my god. I’ve been thinking about a Chrono Trigger play through for weeks. This is my sign. Can’t wait to go back to that world.
These never fail to impress.
Love it!
The mastery of multiple instruments here, and the master got me hypnotized 😵💫 ❤
This sounds so vivid and alive, I can almost smell the corn dogs and funnel cakes, we're at the fair now!

Wonderfully done 🎉
Te salio perfecto hermano 🤩
que nostalgia , pero que hermosa melodia😹
The best part is the "AH!" 😉
This song fills me with joy as the original song did!
Maravilhoso. Perfeito. Magnífico. Faltam adjetivos pra descrever seu trabalho. Parabéns, excelente, como sempre
Wonderfully authentic
Definitely worth the wait.
its always a treat when you post a new video

Yep. That's some mighty fine work there.
Nice job bro!! Incredible! 🎹🎵🎶🥁🥁🎻🎻😍😍😍😍 ❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you so much for this lovely rendition of my childhood.
Beautiful... And I see a Poster of SoE in the Bachground. A man with GOOD Taste
It's a ridiculously precise rhythm.
So thankful to see you return after a lengthy break. This was the song I needed today!
Look out! Green Ambler coming through! 😆Nicely done!
Sounds amazing ! Awesome cover ! Thank you for sharing
Seriously, for instrumentalist arrangers, you and *PPF* are the best in the business.
Sweet memories
Hell yes! Maybe my favorite CT piece, it’s so joyful. Thanks for this one
This makes me happy
For a brief moment I thought, how did he manage to get that high of a note from a bass right in the beginning. 🤣
Glorious!!
Even the shouts are perfect. ^^ I've enjoyed covers of the Millennial Fair, but this one takes the cake! Love your covers, man
So F'ing amazing! Love it! You rock!
Welcome back! Great performance 😊
It's a delight to see another cover from you!
A great rendition.
Keep up the good work.
Just smiling over here, well done :)
This is beautiful!
I am happy to see you guys back with more amazing tunes
I love your SOM poster.
The quality is so good. It's very accurate to the original.
Yes! Awesome work! now we need Gato's Song Next!!!
It's so wonderful to hear your take on this, well done :)
Congrats !
