Yes a case will play a significant role in offering better magnetic strength but I didnt perform these tests with a case on my iphone because I wanted to show how each charger performs with its strength and show the difference between the chargers.
@@GanymedeXD yup, it sure does. I understand I totally get why people mentioned why I didn’t test it with a case cause everyone usually has a case on their iPhone. However, down the road when I drop another video on some newer car chargers I’ll probably use a iphone case with the standard strength you would find on most common iPhone brand cases out there. 👍
Great video but…Peak Design DOES offer a vent mount and it is so very good. Different from what I’ve seen before but very good just like the dash mount version. Made from solid billet machines aluminum and just feels like a quality piece of kit. Big plus is that it doesn’t block the vent flow.
I have been using several of the XVIDA magnetic car and home chargers for about three [3] years now for our iPhone 12 Pro's. The entry costs for XVIDA were high and they required the use of their propriety phone cases. The magnetic hold was only fair and a light bump of the phone easily lands the phone at my feet or under the pedals out of reach [very annoying]. And now the wear and tear is showing on the USB connection on the chargers itself causing an intermittent connection. One of them simply won't stay connected even with a new USB cable. So now in the market to replace all the XVIDA chargers [4 home base chargers and 3 auto chargers]. Also means the 2 XVIDA phone cases have to go too. Your reviews are very helpful, but I like to use phone cases to help protect our investment in the iPhones. As we have no need to replace the 12 Pros we have now [at least for the immediate predictable future], I'm starting the research for compatible cases that will work with the chargers you've reviewed. It seems many of not all the cases have some sort of thought into maintaining or improving the magnetic hold [verses the XVIDA I have now]. Do you have any thoughts on how the cases affect the magnetic hold, and any recommendations on those? I'm not really too concerned about the wattage or charging times as most our vehicle journeys are at least 30 minutes or greater. I'd rather have better vent mounted phone, with the magnetic hold capacities with a compatible phone case. Thank you for your thoughts on this.
It’s a supporting magnet for the magsafe design on most cases. Apple designed their magsafe on their phones and cases with a magnetic ring and then a lower magnet at the bottom. Most brands of iPhone cases offer that same design. 👍
You definitely deserves more views likes and subs. Real genuine testing and most importantly accurate. I do a lot of off road lease road driving and was looking for something that would have a strong magnetic hold for those bumpy roads and you did a very good job breaking the magnetic strength down for those looking specifically for that thank you 🙏🏼
@@T3CHUP quick question would you happen to know what size ball mount fits the ESR cryoboost 7.5? I drive a semi truck with a big dash and would like some type of adhesive connector instead of the vent mount.
I've been using scosche magic mount for years, at the expense of not using the wireless charge feature of my phone(s). I would like to make a change. Thank you for doing this comparison for me! I haven't finished the video yet, but my first observation is that Scosche isn't in the list. They make this tech too I think - Maybe you'll address it. Thanks again
Looks like ESR is the go for me. The summer heat here means my phone often shuts down if I try and charge it even with a cable so I need the cooling tech to be able to run my business on the go. Thanks for the review!
Hey, my iPhone 12 Pro heats up BAD on a vent mount in the winter with the heat blowing on it. I need a CD slot mount with magsafe charging built-in, but can't find one. I don't want one w/out charging, and have to plug my phone in with a cable. That's the whole point of magsafe/fast charging. Any ideas? Thanks, Tony.
It’s best to direct the airflow to legs and windshield in the winter. Legs because heat rises and windshield to keep it clean from fog and ice. Then it also solves the phone heating problem.
Yeah the clips on the ESR charger and most of these car chargers can have the tendency to do that. However, if I were you I would reach out to ESR and try to see if they can help even after 9 months of using it and ask them if they could replace it. One of my friends had a similar issue with his an they were happy to help him out by sending him a replacement. They have a 12 month warranty last time I checked and their customer service is one of the best out there in the realm of iPhone accessories from what I’ve heard from people.
@@T3CHUP I've found a better solution. I bought a universal vent clip with 17mm ballhead for USD 1.5. and replaced the broken ESR clip. Stable like crazy. Seems better than the default ESR clip.

@@michaelwiley6979 haha not going to lie I agree! The first month I was able to stand it but a few months after I’ve started turning it off cause I got annoyed of it 😂
I dont care which one is "fastest" and I don't think most people do either. It just needs to keep the phone at steady 80% and not get overly hot. What I care about is the strength of the magnet. and the quality of the product. the ergonomics. The design. the functionality. the durability. If I wanted charge speed I would use a regular mount, which has better magnets than any of these charging versions, and I'd plug a cable into the phone and charge way faster than anything wireless. If my phone happened to get super low and I need to charge fast, thats the best way to do it, way faster than any of these. I want something that works well. Charge speed is basically irrelevant to me. wow, some chargers save you 3 minutes over half an hour. Life changing! Not. Literally irrelevant. The reason to choose magsafe charger over just a magsafe mount is the convenience of not having to plug and unplug the phone every time you egress and ingress the vehicle. Though with a cable charger, the phone stays connected as you use it in your hands within the vehicle. So both options have pros and cons. The main pro to wireless charger is just the convenience factor. A big pro of the non charging mounts is they seem to have much stronger magnets. I will say. thank you for showing the magnet strength on two products I considered after I wasn't happy with my Scoshe or whatever it's called. The Anker and the Belkin. I was leaning towards Belkin because Apple sells it at their store, and because Anker is a super annoying company with aggressive marketing, bogus claims and fake reviews and I'm pretty much done with them. That said, I think I'll buy the Anker. Or maybe I'll save $50 and get the Lisen which I gifted to a friend. I wasn't sure if their products were trustworthy or not considering how little they cost but my friend has had no issues with the Lisen magsafe car charger I got them. And it costs like $15 vs $50 or $70 for the Anker or Belkin.
Suction Mounts are TRASH, and the Car-Vent mounts CAN and WILL break your Vent if you run over a pothole while the phone is charging. NOT worth the risk. 3M adhesive that are specific for car-mount are made for dash use and I have NEVER had one come off. I live in a VERY HOT place.
I have … in 25 years … never had a mount damage my vents! And we got shitloads of potholes! Major downside … most were pretty flimsy and wobbly … at some point falling off. Suction sucks … but not on a dash. The adhesive ones do easily come off in the heat. The oldschool … brutally screwing them onto the dash … were the only stable ones. Not happy with😅😅 any!
Hardware is perfectly fine as rest of video is perfectly fine, as well as every other video I’ve ever watched. The portion showing the 3-in-1 charger is too dark. 🤷♂️
Helpful video, especially regarding the magnet strength and charging time! I appreciate diving in and comparing different brands.
FYI Peak Design does offer a vent mount option as well.
And also a generic 1" ball version that you can use your own mount.
you need to do the same test with a case on the phone.
Yes a case will play a significant role in offering better magnetic strength but I didnt perform these tests with a case on my iphone because I wanted to show how each charger performs with its strength and show the difference between the chargers.
Then you’d have to use the same case for all tests. So unless the viewer has that same case it would be meaningless.
@@T3CHUPProblem is … do not know anybody using a bare phone without case. But that indeed alters outcome and pretty much most have different cases.
