I remember watching part 1 and 2 when they came out and never followed the rest of the films, this should be great to see all of them for once.
Just picked up my copy at Best Buy for $69
I'm guess I'm old school, I'm sure the 4K is amazing but the 3D Blu-Ray versions is the only way to experience these movies in all their glory as they were meant to be seen! Good review!
Just got it for $59,99 on Amazon each movie was like $10.70 so I’d say it was a solid cop
Noice! I just got mine for about 90$ including delivery and customs. I would get the steelbooks but with all the above it would be like 200$+ so nope, too much cheddar.

It's not a steel book but I honestly like this packaging a lot more than the book sliding ones
Yeah I hate the ones that slide out most of the time because the disk tends to stick then I have to touch the side I don't want to damage to get it to slide out I bought slip sleeves for my cases like that just to prevent such damage but I shouldn't have to do that....lol

Retribution had Amazing 3D, shame no 3D copy included. Movie was weak but the 3D was reference Quality
4K is a half-baked format as long as it doesn't support 3D. Sony has also authored these discs to have a forced pop-up menu appear at the end credits, which is ENTIRELY unacceptable. I have bought my last disc from them.
“Afterlife” and “The Final Chapter” got standalone 4K releases. Random. 😁

The Final Chapter isn’t too weird because it’s a new release, but I don’t know what’s up with Afterlife. Why did they release the fourth movie but not the first three? In Canada, the first movie got released in a triple pack with Monster Hunter and The Fifth Element.
I get mine next week then going to watch all of them back to back as its been a long time since I have seen them

@Films At Home Love the content man, I just subscribed earlier today. Thanks for doing coverage of physical media, it seems most people have moved on to streaming now. Physical media is always my preferred way to go. I think it’s interesting that Sony are doing those “PS5 4K Movie Essentials” tags on certain movies when the console itself doesn’t support Dolby Vision (neither does the new Xbox, only HDR10). Maybe they’ll include a firmware update in the future to add the support for it.
thats really weird? i know for a fact the xbox one X has Dolby vision support I just don't have a compatible TV. seems weird that they would essentially downgrade like that.
@@BadaBing420 Nevermind. I just looked it up after you said that and apparently it does support Dolby Vision. That’s weird because I saw a video yesterday where it showed that it didn’t. Maybe it doesn’t at launch but it will in the future? I’m not too sure.
It does support the format. It just supports it on streaming services, not on physical media unfortunately.

I cannot wait to get this! I pre-ordered it a while ago. I do however hate that After and The Final Chapter use the Red Umbrella Logo, I've seen other art work were they used a better image of Alice and the Umbrella logo was Green. It made so much more sense... But whatever, I'm still excited for this.

I’m satisfied with this collection. I preordered my set. When I found out the news this was a must! Because Sony only released Afterlife and The Final Chapter as the only 4K. I’m so glad I waited because I was going to buy the collection set on digital because I saw that some of them were getting a 4K transfer but this was just perfect.
Not for it's current price it's not.

Yes! You hit it right on the hand. I was waiting for the 4K releases for the franchise and I’m pretty upset that it’s not a Steelbook set like they have been doing lately. I really hope they will do Steelbook releases. With that said, I’ll probably still pick it up depending on the price.

I agree, I bought spare 4K cases and I’m going to put my Jurassic Park and Back to the Future movies in individual cases. The discs being slid in and out of cardboard just freaks me out

Six 4k movies in a matching box set for 70 bucks This is a great deal.
It should be pointed out that they are using this to pimp physical media in a bid way. With the new consoles coming out a lot of people are going to have to buy new TVs to take full advantage of their new systems. They are also going to want to take advantage of that new 4k player. This generation of consoles might bring back physical media at least a little bit.
Sony wants to market 4k discs but dosen't want to support Dolby Vision or Atmos on PS5, despite actually doing those formats well on movies, and selling speakers, soundbars, tvs that can handle those formats. Logic?
I’m not getting a ps5 for that reason. I’m content with my Xbox One S and HDR
Its put me off buying a PS5, I would have liked Atmos audio that works with my speakers. I will wait a while and see how things turn out with the console. Im not sure how their own proprietary 3D sound is going to work without extensive support from the AV equipment manufacturers. If its a different format to DTS:X or Atmos how will the AV recievers and soundbars decode it?
Atmos works just fine with ps5 no dolby vision though

@@nikospriov I just tried it with equalizer and your right. Apparently no 4k support on Disney+, need to check. But that alone might mean Dolby vision coming for streaming later. Cuz come on mandalorian w/o dolby vision?
I've never liked this series beyond #1 and #5, but I might be willing to pick this edition up (upscales notwithstanding), especially since they shunted the bonus features to the Blu-Ray and kept the 4K disc movie-dedicated.

I think they should have both. If this cheap cardboard comes with a cheaper price, I would not mind. If you are a collector and want a premium steelbook collection, you should. I am not in love with all the chapters; so, I want just have the movies without premium price.

Me Likey. I can now finally add the complete RE collection to my collection.
Exactly the right movie at exactly the right time. The music and atmosphere, the sets and costume design, the special effects, the cast. Everything lined up perfectly for a young shaggy. That kid was a gothy nerd with love for video-games, horror, industrial music and Mila Jovovich. This movie managed to check all the boxes. Watching it now, it still pretty much holds up. Maybe a little cheesy but stylish and entertaining. 6 stars for watchability, one for nostalgia. 4kmovies co
If these movies had an ounce of any sort of pretentiousness, they might deserve the flak they get sometimes. But they don't, and are quite underrated.
In Australia the first is out on 4k I've got it paid off and just waiting for it to turn up

Only the first film got a 4K rescan. The sequels are all upscaled. "The Final Chapter" is native 4K as well.
Have you reviewed Total Recall 4K? I tried looking for it and didn't see, so I'm guessing no.

I have a problem with Apocalypse at 27'24" the Atmos track start to fail. Switching to the old DTS-HD format solves the problem but I bought it because of the Atmos track more than the 4k. Can you confirm howbyour disk behaves?

Just the first one for me, I bought the blu ray collection on sale and I think just the first one would be cool on 4K. Kind of like how I have the Underworld collection on blu but just the first on 4K.
Just to let you know, they released all of them on 4k seperately here in europe. Each film has its own release

The digital code information was completely skipped. I was wondering if the digital code was one code for the whole collection or six individual codes? It makes a difference for people like me that already have some of these movies in a 4k streaming verison.

Since they are not releasing this box where I live, I'm considering importing it. However, it is a bit difficult to find which disc includes which subtitles. I have a hunch that most of these discs include finnish subtitles, since that's what I'm looking at, but can't find certain confirmation. Does anyone know?

Hey, guys. I hear a rattling sound when I tilt the box around. I'm thinking it might be a loose disc so I haven't opened it in case I need to return it. Can someone confirm if the rattling sound is normal? I'm thinking it might be the booklet that is making the sound.

I got the PS5 half because it's 4k player, but was super disappointed to discover it doesn't support Dolby Vision. Dolby Atmos is also not readily findable either and has to be enabled through a series of settings, some of which are kind of hidden.
I’m hoping they update to include DV in the future.

great review of all the films. J/w, but do you normally not show all the artwork when you do unboxing? You didn't show either side of the outer box look or the back/spine of the individual releases. Would have taken literally 2 seconds....
Hoping that Sony will eventually reissue the films in 4K individually for people that missed out on this set as it’s kinda hard to find now. I’m not a huge fan of the packaging for the films, the top disc holder in the Final Chapter case snapped when I took out the 4K disc. They could have just used standard Blu-ray cases instead; also not a huge fan of the new artwork, I prefer the theatrical posters. but other than those nitpick things, the set was pretty good. The transfers are a huge upgrade from the standard Blu-rays, especially the second film since that one was one of the first Blu-ray’s ever put out by Sony and the transfer is kinda bad by today’s standards. The addition of the extended cut was kinda pointless but it was nice to have it as a completionist.
I like how Sony Pictures already doing their cross-promotion with the Sony PS5 on the label when nobody can even buy one if they tried😂🤣
I just got this collection today and they even have a ps5 ad before the main menu. Leave it to Sony
Are the Blu-ray discs in the US release region free or are they locked to region A? The UK release of this boxset is currently listed at twice the price...
If you're only interested in the movies themselves, all 4K UHD blu-ray discs are region free (wasn't clear if you knew that). @@rosstee thanks. I know the 4K discs will be region free, but I like the 1080p ones for the special features and stuff so prefer them to be region free or B where possible.
Lovely review, I hate hate hate the movie art on the cases. Would be awesome if they had made some cool "classic horror" style posters for these rather than just having her standing there.

for the price (£120) im not too excited about those cardboard sleeves.If they were steelbooks then that could have persuaded me but i already have the all of the bluray steelbooks and standard blurays and the dvds so im not gonna buy them all again haha.
