I think the reason the game 'eats' things is just because it's the end of the line of what they can be merged in to, so no reason to keep them on the screen anymore
Yup, and it gives you its bonuses permanently
You still get bonuses from the ones that get "eaten", all it means is they can no longer be combined. They're then "eaten" to keep things from getting too crowded.
Clicker + (whatever this genre is called) is something i never thought i would see till today
genre is probably merger, i think mobile ads are filled with merge idle slop

If you didn't realize when it "eats" the end of combining items like the ash and such it doesn't actually remove the bonuses they give just simply takes it off screen
