    Dear ladies, please hear what Heidi is saying. It is so very important. Your children will be grown before you know it. This from a mom of children in their thirties that realized much to late and has had great sorrow from that lack of discernment. Have a wonderful day.

      ❤ Great list! #5 is huge! I much prefer my kids to be "bored" at home to send them away to hang out with friends just for the sake of getting them something to do.

    Thanks for your input. People always judge us because of not doing Halloween, and we don't push Santa on our kids,, We always influence them on the true meaning of Christmas. Not a man who leaves presents. It wasn't until I told my kids that we were Santa did they understand, they always felt they weren't good enough. Because my husband and I were always broke. When they saw there cousins get so much stuff and they got so little. But they understood. Please pray for my youngest daughter, she is 10 years old and has ALL Leukemia, she also has down syndrome, and she is perfect in every way. We love her so much. We are still fighting this with chemo daily, and once a month trips to Cooks Childrens Hospital. Thanks her name is Eliana.

    How refreshing to hear how your parenting style aligns so closely with mine. Our daughters are grown with kids of their own now but it wasn't popular to ban sleepovers and popular styles and movies and so on. The backlash from others was real. And now we are doing it all over again with our adopted son. These standards are crucial to raising Godly adults.
    But I am so glad we stick to our beliefs.
    Push through mama's, it's worth it!❤
    Great advice Heidi!

    Thank you so much for sharing these things today. I have a 2-year-old and a baby on the way, and my husband and I have been battling with cutting out things of this world that we grew up with that were not biblical. And as we've been on this journey, it has felt pretty lonely. No family members or friends understand, and we've, in fact, lost a lot of relationships along the way as we've grown closer with Christ. It is nice to know we are not alone. I'm so thankful God put this message on your heart to share. Have a blessed day 🙏

      Thank you for sharing this! This is us too. We have 4 kids ranging in age from 9 to 15 months and the way we live is so counter-cultural to a lot of Christians, like not doing the “innocent” aspects of Halloween, no Santa, etc. We have told our family NOT to send Christmas presents, but to buy zoo memberships, SeaWorld passes, etc., and they still don’t listen. It’s very frustrating!

    Growing up my sister and I had the most fun playing with 2 old pans and 2 spoons + a swing set. That titter-totter was a blast. And we made
    dirt cakes and decorated them with flowers and firns.

    Amen. I agree. I wish I had done so much differently. My kids and grandkids are about all grown, how do I do better? Where can I start? How can God use me now? If they have different views, or get irritated when I say something? Do you think God will forgive me? Lots of parents think they are showing love by giving them things or have friends. I just want to be better. Thank you so much for this

    Sitting on my couch resting and finding this video very uplifting and challenging! I know its important to set the standards. My boys have understood for the most part, and sometimes the peer pressures get to be a challenge for them too. However we have made sure to be careful and prayerfully consider what our boys keep active in. Including sports, where if it interfers with a Sunday we wont let them play.

    I really liked what you said about overwhelming them with the world like physical possessions. I'm kind of in a weird spot with that with our kids right now. They're all very young, 8 or littler. they make their own money from doing extra non domestic chores. We often go to flea markets and garage sales and my husband's opinion is that they can spend their money how they want because that will teach them how to use it. I don't completely disagree but I have seen the aftermath in the kid's bedrooms and it's pretty stressful for me to try to Help them clean and manage all their things. I'm not really sure how to handle this going forward except to keep doing what I've been doing.

      I’m still learning as a Mom; was wondering if you could let the kids select 5 options and you let them buy the top 2 (according to the money they earned) that you think would work the best for them. It will be hard in the beginning for your kids to let go but eventually they will understand where you are leading them and seeing the utility of these items. If you get an opportunity try taking them to a Christian book store sale or a place where it will be easier for you to weed out unnecessary things. I will pray for you and your husband as you both lead your children in Godly ways.

    This is good. There's a church that is doing a trunk or treat on the 1st of november. Before I realized it was a trunk-or-treat, I told the kids that they would go. But now that I know that that's what it is I am not too sure about it. Because like I told my kids, what's the difference in that and going trick or treating.... Our church is doing a fair fest for harvest so I'm hoping that's not a watered-down version of trick or treating

    Heidi, thank you for this video. I agree with all of this. My issues lies in the “guilt “ I feel because my son 6yo is an only child right now and since I homeschool i feel guilty that he has no one to play with (other kids) and while church friends are our #1 choice and only kids we let him play with we also feel the pressure of letting him play sports because #1 he loves sports and playing them and he is good at it. #2 to let him get his energy out.
    But I’m afraid of it letting it be an idol and also as he grows older that the kids may influence him.
    How can I go about this in the best way?

    • @rkubss
      @rkubss 11 месяцев назад

      Hey I’m not sure where you live but we live in a smaller town and the sports community is great. So many lessons can be learned from sports. If you see it become an idol you can use discernment but esp since you homeschool it would be a good way to get energy out and let him use talents for God. I always try to relate it back to the race we run for Christ. My son is 7 and does baseball and flag fb God gives talents and abilities it’s amazing to see kids apply themselves in something they love.

      @@rkubss We live in California and yes he is in soccer right now and absolutely loves sports and wants to play all of them lol. I need to trust God more in this area because I’m always worried it will become and idol but I know I talk to him a lot about idols and that God comes first always.

    What's wrong with sports? Aside from helping kids learn the importance of being active (which they will take long into their adulthood), sports can have various positive impacts if done in moderation

    • @HeavenlyMindedHome
      @HeavenlyMindedHome  11 месяцев назад +1

      Potentially- sports turning into priority/idolatry and injuries that have impact into adulthood are more often seen. If your family and children are Biblically solid and truly discipled it can be a positive impact. Kids should be active and play- absolutely! Organized sports? Not necessary. :)

    Heidi - I would love to hear your understanding on what it says biblically about relationships - especially tougher ones, ones that even manipulating you/using you but are a brother/sister in christ. I want to show brotherly/sisterly love and affection but when their around I feel like they are constantly putting me in a situation where I compromise the spirit. I wonder, is the lord testing my faith to stand for it or is this from Satan/spiritual warfare? I guess what I have come up with is the Lord would want me to love this person well and that might be by having them at a distance and if this is Satan, if I stand firm in christ during these interactions- the devil will flee (resist the devil and he will flee) I really want to put up boundaries without being vocal and doing it through christ-like actions but do you think it is necessary to be vocal when someone is so antagonist and maybe getting entertained by my unease?
    Also, anything on honoring your mother/father in law when the relationships are like said above? Thanks for considering

  • @micheleandrews4779

    Is your poor doggie tied to that tree? I see the worn spot where he stays.
    Please let your doggie live life in your home. Studies show dogs have the intelligence of a 2 to 3 year old child. How boring and dreadful that would be to spend all day in one spot.
    God blessed the animals in the beginning too. We must take that responsibility seriously. Unfortunately my own family learned that too late!!❤❤

    • @HeavenlyMindedHome
      @HeavenlyMindedHome  17 дней назад

      He’s a very well loved and cared for dog- he has to stay on a line when outside because he runs off and will bite. We don’t coop any of our dogs up inside all day- they’d be miserable. Thankful to have a large yard that they can all enjoy… even the senior citizens like Ol’ Jerry here who prefers to stay in his favorite areas. 💕

    • @micheleandrews4779
      @micheleandrews4779 17 дней назад

      @@HeavenlyMindedHome Trust me no dog wants to be tied but I can only share my heart for him. Our dog is in the house. I know what you mean because when I was growing up I didn’t understand how dogs really prefer to be in the mix. So inside they get a lot more attention, comfort, and love. I didn’t know that either till I had grown children of my own. Imagine if that was your own experience. Would you want to be tied up outside. All alone for weeks on end.
