- Sawtooth's Memorial Day sale was too good to resist. It's even better than their Black Friday sale and I couldn't resist that one either. What can I say. I'm weak. So anyway, this is the Sawtooth Mahogany Series 12 String acoustic electric guitar. I also got some "malt beverage". Let's take a look at this.

It looks amazing. If you wanted to buy a guitar of that quality in the 1960s, it would have been priced at $250.
Adjusting for inflation (based off 1960), that’s $2562.19. The golden age of budget gear certainly feels like it’s upon us.
1960's ?, I was probably more interested in watching Fred Flintstone cartoons rather than buying guitars. I had money for a candy bar and that was about it.

Did I not say "get the 12 string!" Max? I wouldn't steer you wrong! Beautiful wood on that guitar, and that lush, deep sound of the 12 string. I fell in love with 12 string guitars back in the late 60s and early 70s and have rarely been without one in the 50+ years since! My current 12 string is a Washburn Dreadnought that I bought around 20 years ago and have lovingly taken care of since. It sounds even better now than it did when it was new!
At black Friday last year, I got the jumbo mahogany and have really enjoyed it. It is holding up well. I recently got the jumbo spruce top 12 string and am really digging that as well. And, their customer service is consistently excellent. Thanks Max for letting us know about these great deals!

Great choice. It sounds amazing. The accoustic by itself is gorgeous. But the mixed tone is where it's at imo.
12 string guitars have a mystical, medieval flair that no 6 string has.

But it depends on the weight - I once had a Cort 12- that was super light and had a lightweight sound. Not very loud at all.

Great sounding guitar. I remember My first 12 string, a Gretsch Dorado back in the early 1977. I loved that guitar dearly. The rich tone and depth of sound was a joy to play.

Received my right hand 12 string today. So far I am VERY impressed with the quality of the instrument. It still amazes me how they can build a guitar of this quality and sell it for such a low price. I think every guitarist who is worth a salt needs at very least one acoustic in their arsenal of instruments. That said it does not have to be the most expensive guitar on the planet either. I think you have done well with this purchase because not only did you get an acoustic, but a 12 string at that. I have always loved 12 strings because it gives a certain melodic presence that a 6 string does not have without the accompaniment of some form of modulation effect. For 250 class your musical journey has taken on a new shape. Enjoy.
Great choice Max! This one , all mahagony, has that great warm sound that really fills the room with the lush sounds you described in the video! Glad you are already thinking of using it more in your compositions. The guitar will grow on you over time - enjoy it & keep on a rockin!

I hope its a good guitar. I just ordered one today. The second guitar I ever owned was an acoustic 12 string Alverez back in the late 80's early 90's. I had to sell it for bill payments and life got in the way for getting another one until today. (or something kinda corny like that) Anyway, I just couldn't pass up the half price sale. 12 string acoustics make you a better six string player in my opinion as it strengthens your fingers.

I bought Daion is from Japan in the '70s 12 string for $50 a week ago it's amazing sounds beautiful it looks to be mahogany too

I sent my dad the your video from last week and he ordered the red Les Paul style guitar. He doesn’t play yet but he wants to learn, so when I go to visit him this summer I’ll have to show him a few riffs!
I think the ad stated the guitar had a solid mahogany top. All my numerous acoustic guitars have solid tops. At this price level picking up the guitar was a no brainer and a wise choice. Due to the difficulty in tuning, having just one 12 string guitar is enough for me. These 12 string instruments have a magical tone that fits perfectly in some song arrangements.

Good choice, and the guitar sounds great! An excellent palate cleanser and fun way to get some luscious ambient soundscapes. Drop D, and other altered tunings can be very rewarding and are worth exploring.
The guitar is now about $500.00 so at $250.00 it is a no brainer. I have owned a few 12 guitars and this one sounds very rich. It could be a little more "shimmery" but it gets its richness from the mahogany which is very pleasing. If you wanted a little more shimmery, the Seagull with the spruce top is an excellent choice.
I bought one of these last week as well, except the left handed version. It sounds great!

Thanks for not getting the tube combo amp cause I was able too and it sounds great, also got the 6-string mahogany dreadnought ordered this morning. Sawtooth acoustic’s are a bargain IMO but the “MD50” promo makes it a steal! Already have the mahogany mini jumbo and maple jumbo, both are crazy good for the price
That looks more like sapele (African mahogany), which is a little brighter than ordinary mahogany. I have a 40+ year old Alvarez 12- that has a deep, cavernous sound. The Sawtooth sounds bright by comparison.
Now for the brew - that particular brand (not gonna even try to probounce it) has been judged one of the best N/A beers around. Another great-tasting brand is Kromacher 0.0.
I have tons of Sawtooth love them all. I ordered the last 40w Tube amp. Plus ordered the jumbo maple 12. The mini jumbo and a cherry heritage.
Considering a 6 string acoustic....Wish they would stock up, very happy with the 2 guitars & bass I have gotten from them so far...

I just bought the 12 string I fear that they could do the same thing to me. I'll breath easier when I get that "shipped" confirmation email. I got the order received email at least already.

By the way, not that I'm anywhere near the electric player you are, 12-strings really shine when you play individual strings and do cool little fills. The normal strumming doesn't do it, not for me anyway. Like in the intro to If I Close My Eyes Forever, just brings out the beauty of all those strings.
do a cover of hotel california using that guitar. also try out some pedals or amp models with it.

How does it project? I mean it's good looking I bought a similar harley benton it's got a decent tone but it's pretty quiet overall
Great review... Did you use standard tuning or drop down a tone or semi-tone as is usually recommended for a 12 string?
I used to always tune my old Alverez 12 string down a half note or it would pop the high octave G string all the time. I have heard an Ovation 12 won't do that, but I don't know why unless the scale length is different or something.
I tuned my first 12 string to standard and after a few months the bridge had bowed 😵
