You have done such a phenomenal job with this video series. For those of us who missed out you have allowed us to experience Quilt Con in such a beautiful way. Thank you!
You and Paul take FIRST PLACE for the best Quilt Con overview! This series has been amazing.... And we ALL appreciate your investment of time and energy bringing us these gorgeous quilts. Thank you! ❤ Meyrick
Thank you Cathy and Paul for taking us with you to QuiltCon. This series is thoughtful and gives a wonderful insight because of your reading of the artist’s statements and your commentary. There is a lesson from the last quilt for us all; Trust ourselves. (I did think you might have broken out in song with “ Let it go” from Frozen 😂) Much love from Oz 🇦🇺xx
Thank you so much for including my work in this wonderful video! The first piece you showed is one of my students, and I am so incredibly proud of her!!! 🥰
Again, who knew that I would enjoy these quilts so much? I loved all the stories from the artists! My favorite ( if I could pick one) is Hidden Trees. The Improvisination quilts are so inspirational! Thank you again ❤
Thank you and Paul so much for the extra videos from QuiltCon. They really bring the quilt show into my home. All the quilts are so beautiful, interesting and challenge me as a quilter. 😊
Keeping it 100 was my favorite. WOW! Color, design, quilting...every stitch of it.❤ This category really gives us something to consider...is Improvision leading the quilting world away from traditional into ultra modern? Every step in that direction is exciting. Thanks again Kathy and Paul for bringing us this beautiful and fascinating view of QuiltCon 2024.
Improvisational piecing, more fun, loud, colorful, vibrant. Loved the selvedge quilt. Like the artist statements. Don't think would be able to define maximalism or Improvisation in a quilt to save my life, I just know some of these quilts are fabulous. Cathy, I am getting a real education here. Thank you for the tour.
As a traditional quilter I'm overwhelmed by these quilts! Absolutely stunning! I truly appreciate your narrative. The For Mom quilt, also, resonates with me. My husband and I were both part of the military tribe ! So, that one does too! I've resumed my thrifting of shirts yesterday. I was on the lookout for plaids and stripes , not to mention checks. Orange tags were half off I did get two syripes. The plaids were too worn and a small check had a place above the pocket where bleach had removed ink marks! I rejected it because it wasn't Orange tag and I didn't want to pay full price! I did , however, find a childs like new cotton sheet in a pirate theme and pillowcases to match! I have two great nephews and thought it would make a nifty quillow! All for a total of $4.50 ! I, also, found 2 100% linen shirts in the ladies! One is a plaid ! Oh! Happy day! If I cant wear it , its in the pile ! Ive learned so much watching your vids and enjoy being "outside" the box ! So much fun! 😂
The military quilt spoke to me in a different way. My daddy was military through and through. His families (yep he had 2) often wondered where he was especially when he was in Vietnam 3 different times. It was a life with many turns and twists. I loved how she even incorporated the ribbons from the bottom of the pants he wore.
Christina, I wonder how many military families and wives were so moved by this quilt! I, too, noticed the ribbons and ties and I think that may have been the most moving and meaningful part of the quilt for me. It makes it feel real and personal--not just fabric.
I loved the tour of the event and especially enjoyed your description to the maximalism quilts. after watching your absolute need for structure I know they almost made you dizzy.
Lol, Sandra! Right?! The artist that made the Joy Bubble quilt noticed it too---and I made that bag to take to QuiltCon this year! So apparently Sherri Lynn and I were channeling the same muse! ❤️
Full Wild..Feelin’ Groovy..two of my favorites..I’m not into “modern”, just to old and traditional..BUT..I can see me doing these😂 NOW..of “all” Crooked Path, to me, most precious and meaningful ❤(KH)
This series has been fantastic! I appreciate the time spent with each quilt from the makers statement to the commentary on piecing/color/quilting, to the camera work that illuminates the commentary. No wonder you were tired when you got home! Thank you so much for gifting us with these beautiful videos ❤️
Tia Curtis taught me my first fmq class several years ago and I was hooked on quilting. Her quilts and quilting are beautiful! She has the Berry Jam pattern out now and even though it was not something I would normally make, I got the pattern and made one. I think it has to be one of my favorites. Mine isn't quite as detailed as hers but maybe the next one I make will be even a little more improv. Thanks for sharing all the beautiful quilts from QuiltCon.
What a treat. This is the best Quiltcon series I have ever seen. Others give an good impression of what it is like to attend (minus the sore feet!), and that's fun, but your wonderful commentary about the artists, the quilts and the techniques honours the artists and their work, still minus the sore feet! I also love the way you've categorised each video so I can go back many times and enjoy them again. Congratulations.
I want to see more of the Fire, Water, Earth one! I'm SO delighted with y'all sharing these videos with us, but I hope you got to give your voice a rest. ;)
Steff, it was HUGE! And when we were filming there were people literally EVERYWHERE---I wish we could have spent more time (and space) on that one! And no, I didn't get to give my voice a rest (lol) but pushed on through anyway. As I am generally inclined to do.
Thanks again Cathy!! I look forward to each new category and description. Your eye and feeling behind your own responses are heartfelt and so inspiring! Maybe next year I can travel to Phoenix for QuiltCon!! ❤❤❤❤
That green A quilt is absolutely beautiful. Its maximalist, but in the best possible way. The selvage quilt is probably the coolest thing I've seen! I've seen creators on youtube use selvages, but this one is the most interesting in my opinion. Oooo and thr fire water eatth quilt... I'm sure that too ages to make, but it's so gorgeous. People are somcreative and artistic. I wish I had a brain that viewed things that way.
Aja Fra Danmark. Tusind tak for de bedste video optagelser jeg nogen sinde har set fra Quilt Con. Dine bedømmelser og super gode nærbilleder af quilte.

You're so welcome, Donna! ❤️
I could listen to you talk about other people’s quilts all day! Thank you so much for this series!
John, this comment made my day! Thank you and you're welcome! 😘
Right?!! So well done!

Much love back to you, Deborah! And now I have "let it go" playing in my head! 😂 But you're welcome and I'm glad you've enjoyed our trip to QuiltCon!

The Improvisination quilts are so inspirational! Thank you again ❤
Kathi, I loved Hidden Trees too---almost against my natural inclination. Maximalism is not really my thing, but I loved that quilt! 🤩
I love hearing the stories behind the quilts. I’m in awe of the talent. Just amazing. 💕💕💕
Thank you and Paul so much for the extra videos from QuiltCon. They really bring the quilt show into my home. All the quilts are so beautiful, interesting and challenge me as a quilter. 😊

I love the German, alphabet, tree quilt! So intriguing.

You are so welcome! The selvage quilt was one of my favorites as well! Although I can't even imagine saving selvages for 10 YEARS! 😳😱
Gosh, such great work. So happy to see so many close up. Such different quilting as well.
Thank you so much for taking us with you.
Night Lights is my favorite, hands down! ❤ Fire, Water, Earth is also stunning!
Night lights was SO beautiful and vibrant up close--it would just take your breath away!
I have really enjoyed your videos from QuiltCon since I was not able to attend in person. Thank you so much!
Those quilts are amazing. Thank you very much for giving info on each quilt.

I agree. Your videos are the most informative and interesting of all I’ve watched. Keep up the great job.
I am such a big fan of yours! I have watched a few videos about quilt, con, and yours is by far the best! You get first place winner in videos!
Thank you, Deborah!❤️
🤯I’m simply blown away by these beautiful quilts Cathy! Inspiring ❤️
Shannon, right?! Just unbelievable!
Thank you so much for including my quilt in this beautiful (and fabulously executed) video … it was a treat to watch and rewatch (and rewatch) 💕
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching (and rewatching!)

You are spoiling us with your videos. I'll miss them so much when they're done.
Lol, Heike! 😂❤️ Paul and I will not miss them when they're done! 😘
@TheCatBirdQuilts yeah, I'm sure you're not. 🤣🤣 I can only imagine how much work they are.
So many beautiful quilts. Loved them all - thanks for the tour.
You're welcome, Peg! Wish you could have been there!
At timestamp 24:00 your bag and that bubble quilt are too perfect for each other!!
Your tote bag matches the background in the Joy Bubble Quilt!!!! ❤
The artist of the Joy Bubble Quilt (Sherri Lynn Wood) noticed it too! And how about I made that bag to take to QC!
I loved the tour of the event and especially enjoyed your description to the maximalism quilts. after watching your absolute need for structure I know they almost made you dizzy.
I definitely do not love the maximalism---but the quilts in the show were wonderful and a great addition to the show!
Love your quilt show recap videos. The Joy Bubble quilt strips were made to match your lovely tote bag.
Lol, Sandra! Right?! The artist that made the Joy Bubble quilt noticed it too---and I made that bag to take to QuiltCon this year! So apparently Sherri Lynn and I were channeling the same muse! ❤️
I loved LA stripes. Especially appreciate your reading of the artist statements and your reactions. Thank you so much.
I loved it, too, Linda! Something about that colorway and the broken stripes in the center just made it really appealing to me. And you're welcome! ❤️
Full Wild..Feelin’ Groovy..two of my favorites..I’m not into “modern”, just to old and traditional..BUT..I can see me doing these😂 NOW..of “all” Crooked Path, to me, most precious and meaningful ❤(KH)
You and Paul have done such an amazing job. We are going to be expecting a new video every day or so going forward! LOL
Thank you, Sylvie! ❤️ Um, no. But good try! 😘😂😱😉

Thank you, Barbara! And yes ma'am--we were (and still are) WIPED OUT!

Oh Linda, that is so cool!! How wonderful that you got to learn from Tia Curtis--I didn't love a lot in the maximalism category, but I did love hers!

@@TheCatBirdQuiltsI relate to that! *lol*
My modern quilt guild is doing a maximalism challenge right now, and I shared your video with our membership for inspiration. Thanks!
Oh my goodness, thank you, Jen! ❤️
Thanks again Cathy!! I look forward to each new category and description. Your eye and feeling behind your own responses are heartfelt and so inspiring! Maybe next year I can travel to Phoenix for QuiltCon!! ❤❤❤❤
Aww, thank you Susan! It is an experience worth having for sure!
Your SOUND is so amazing in this video! Thank you for including me in this thoughtful tour. 🍇🍷

I have really enjoyed your review videos! Thank you❤
You are so welcome!
I also enjoyed "Confluence" by Michael Ross. The color choices look very "mid century" to me. 😉
Me too, Giselle!

Tusind tak, Aja! ❤️
I’ve missed it if you’ve told us already. Did your beautiful quilt place? Did you show it hanging at the show? I have had high hopes for it.
It did not place, but you can see it hanging in the show in the first of these QuiltCon videos: it's the Super Scrappy Challenge one!
@@TheCatBirdQuiltsthanks!! I’ll go check that one out.
Kudos to you for getting it in the show. It’s worthy of placing in my opinion!
