It took me 5 years to get my brother to watch Forest Gump, he'd seen the trailer and didn't care to watch a movie about some dork on a bench talking about chocolate. I told him a million times that it was a great movie and he was "yeah, yeah, whatever.." until finally one night with nothing to do he watched it.. Now I can't get him to stop about all the amazing stuff in the movie..

Any time, any time Tom Hanks does his Zemeckis impression, it occurs to me that I’ve never once heard Robert Zemeckis’ actual voice. I’ve only heard it interpreted by Hanks. And I don’t know if I want to hear his actual voice at this point, it might spoil the illusion.
Oh I Love this version of Tom! He is one of the Great actors of our Time. He can play Literally almost anyone. And He made me LMAO in this interview. 😅👍
It's hilarious that Conan went to to Tom Hanks at a get together and pretty much just started bullying him in front of everyone because as Conan put it "he's such a nice guy and nobody ever gives him a hard time" something like that. 😂
I remember seeing a poster for an upcoming film called Forrest Gump inside the Westhampton in Richmond VA. Soon after that, it played there. We all had a chuckling good time. Thing is, the Westhampton was our “arthouse” theater. Two screens (the balcony had been converted to a 2nd screen in the 80’s) so Gump wasn’t a “first-run, Hollywood must-see” movie. But damned if it didn’t become a national phenomenon in a few weeks. Same as My Big Fat Greek Wedding; didn’t think it would ever leave the theater, much less town.
@@lawbinsonI never read the book, but I have a feeling that the overall theme was something that they had to work within from the original source material.

When I listen to these "podcasts" with actors and hear what it is like making movies and acting, it all sounds terrible and you realize just how hard many work and those that are lucky makes it big and if you're unlucky no one has ever heard of you but you may still have worked just as hard or harder than others. Respect for the people with that passion and oh how many wonderful stories we've been told. Loved Forrest Gump.
This reminds me of what Charles Nelson Reilly once said about working on Broadway. You put as much work into the shows that flop and close in a week as you put into the ones that are huge hits and run for years. You just have to commit to it and see what happens.
Early 90s while in college I lived in Scottsdale and in the summer it’s obviously hot AF. Used to go to random movies during days off all the time and Forrest Gump was a real surprise because I had no idea what it was about. I saw many great movies in that new multiplex theatre and in the old theatre across from the new mall that were smaller budget. Reservoir Dogs was one of them. Back then you truly could walk into a theatre oblivious and be like wow! It’s hard now with so much marketing digital and otherwise.

It's a guilty pleasure I guess. I love it, but I can't bring it up in conversation because the odds another person has seen it and/or liked it are slim.
