Just a quick note about the Scan&Cut (Brother). There is a downloadable version of the software, Canvas, available for pc. My personal choice for software is Inkscape (which is an open source free graphic design program.) I have to use the S&C software to convert svg files to cutting files. I only have the S&C and use for everything from scanning images to creating and cutting out stamps.
May may, this is a good video. It is hard to know what one will like and what will make sense to you as an individual. I feel that you did a great pretty much unbiased review (although I am a Scanncut girl through and through, lol). It is hard to address an audience of people with no experience with cutters to ones with a wealth of experience, both successes and failures. Thank you.
This is a great history, thank you. I purchased a Cricut first, and I had the gypsy (many people don't remember that little jewel. It served as a way to design things off line.) Anyway, I gave my Cricut away and purchased a Pazzles. Oh my gosh, I LOVED that Pazzles, I could design to my heart's content...I made stamps, I made die cuts I designed everything but...and here's the rub I was unable to scan and cut. So, I gave my Pazzles away and decided to wait to see which one to purchase...Scan n Cut or Pazzles upgrade, which includes a scan feature. It does not have the same flexibility, apparently, as Scan n Cut so now I'm still on the fence. I am an artist and would love to have more flexibility to die cut my paper dolls and designs. Have you used the Pazzles? Let me know what you think about that one. Pazzles sold the initial software for the cutting machines to Cricut (a fact not many people know, I'm not sure why.)
I have owned 3 different Cricut machines and one Scan and Cut. I prefer the Cricut. My Scan and Cut never worked right and everything I tried to do with it was difficult. I ended up returning it after a 2 month long battle with the dealer. Save yourself a lot of trouble and go with a Cricut. I upgraded to an Explore Air 2 and I am in love with it. The versatility it has verses the Explore is mind blowing. I am giving my old explore to my daughter and granddaughter. They are excited about that.
I've owned the Brother ScanNCut2 for about 3 or 4 years now and recently ran into the issue of it not being able to cut complicated SVG files which led me to purchasing the Cricut Maker. I wish I would of known the Brother ScanNCut2 converts the SVG files and doesn't actually cut them "as is". If I would of known then what I know now, I would have purchased the Cricut Maker from the get go. 100% agree!!!
Thank you, that helps a lot as I am leaning toward the Scan-n-Cut as I stamp & the fuzzy cutting saves time & with age I realize time is actually more precious than the $$$$ anywho I also was so confused w/ the hearing of Cricut Maker as I do love my Cricut Expression. God bless to you
Maymay, I’m a graphic designer and have a lot of software including Adobe creative cloud and I don’t necessarily want to pay a monthly fee to use software that may or may not be compatible with the files I create in my adobe products. Also, I create my own artwork so the libraries in cricut and scan and cut are sort of superfluous. Also, I want to cut fabric for embroidery/appliqué. So I was thinking about cricut maker or scan and cut. By the way, you are adorable and filled with great information.
You can also try looking up some newer videos on the Silhouette Cameo 4 since you already do your own designs. Disclosure: I own a Cricut, but have watched videos on the Silhouette and I think their software is for the more experienced designer. But hopefully you will get an answer back soon from May May. 🙂
If it wasn't for Circut subscription in order to just use it I would totally get the circut. It's hard to justify a yearly fee of 100+ just to use the circut and as I understand it that is the case. Now when you buy the brother you can use the software for free per my research. I'm still looking into both these machines and that is why I'm leaning towards the brother. Circuit would get a lot more people buying it if it wasnt for the software price. I would have bought one yesterday if it wasn't for the software subscription.
I was looking at the Cameo like 5 years ago but never wanted to spend the money - hubby did the research beyond the pricing and bought me a Cricut Explorer - it sat in the box for months (I was a Die user and didn't want to give them up) but finally I took it up to the cabin and hooked it up to my computer with hubbys help and I was hooked! Last year he asked what I wanted for Christmas - I asked for the S&C 2 I wanted it for cutting out my stamps and Jenn Of Eve Design templates (I cannot fussy cut & my daughter was getting tired of being asked to do it). Absolutely love it! I don't think I will ever get the Maker unless I have to because they kill the Explorer updates though, i can do everything I need to with what I have - Sizzix, Cricut, S&C and I am all set. Hubby thinks there must already be some sort of scanner in the machines already because of the way the Print&Cut feature works on the Cricut, plus in my DS app there is a feature where I can take a photo of a mat and I guess it can use that to do Cutting but I have not tried it out yet
Hello May-May, Thank you so much for your opinion on machines. I purchased the Cricut Explore Air 2 over the Cricut Maker because I could still use my old Cricut cartridges. Now if I start using it, it would be great. Looking for some RUclips classes. Have a nice day and thank you again.
Thank you. I bought the cricut maker. I had no idea about the brother scan and cut. Went to meissners and was told about it. Arrived home to compare came across your site. I’ll be back again. Thank you again.
Thanks for doing this video. You stressed when you buy a machine take it out of the box & use it. I didn’t. I bought a Cricut Maker, but didn’t use it for a couple years. When I did, it wouldn’t turn on. Thankfully I was able to exchange it. Yes, there is a learning curve. Most of what I’ve learned has been from RUclips videos. Now I can see all the possibilities this machine has. Keep doing videos. Maybe other people will get theirs out of the box & use them.
I am deciding between Brother Scan n Cut Dx Disney and Cricut Maker 3. I am a bag maker and like using thickest materials like marine vinyl. Would like it to cut out patterns and svg patterns
You are very through and easy to understand. I am very undecided as to which machine I should buy. I have the Scan N Cut 350 which I realize is outdated. I never used it much, but when I did, it was nice. I have now decided that I would like to purchase either the Cricut Maker or one of the newer Brother Scan N Cuts. So, here is my problem, I want to start using vinyls and being to put them on clothes, etc. and possibly doing other crafts. I like the Brother because I am not one to fussy cut. I also feel that the Brother is easier to understand. I do not know if the Scan N Cut can do the vinyls and other things that the Maker can do. I guess, I just want a machine that can fussy cut, etc. and also a machine that can do other crafts like putting stickers on things and being able to put decals or whatever on clothes, etc. So, if you could help me, I would surely appreciate it. I have been doing a little research on both machines but I have no idea as to which one I should buy. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Sandy, hello. It sounds like we have similar interests. Any luck? I am new to cutting machines, longtime crafter, recently became disabled and am looking for a little help, and a machine that is versatile. Some videos I have seen say that after upgrading folks still love their older brothers like your 350, the 650 I think.. and from what I have read if only comparing the newer DX series the 225 is much better than the 125, and as of last week they released a newer version of 225. The 225F which after reading all specs seems the main change is that is comes with a fabric specific mat and piece of fabric for first project vs scrap book paper. I also see on Brother website 2021 product release page (items available to brother dealers/sewing machine shops) etc. some new vinyl specific blades for that.. anyhow, I hope you found what you were looking for!
Came across this video because I'm in the market for a new machine. Thanks for sharing you have some great tips. I thought it was funny that you mentioned not buying it as a gift. I've done that in the past and asked the person if they used it and they said they hadn't gotten around to it. At that point, I was like they really don't share the same passion for the craft lol.
Great video! Questions about the Scan n Cut 2... 1) Will it cut stiff felt? 2) Can I use it to cut out labels for a clamshell package for a product we sell? (Can I put in a sheet of several of the printed labels and have the machine cut them out for me?)
Great points Maymay, the best and most honest review I’ve seen yet! I suggest to anyone who really wants to get the most out of any of the major brands machines, purchase and learn to use a vector software program. You’ll be able to use any choice to it’s fullest potential with vector software. I’ve high end software, but SCAL is a perfect choice. I totally agree with Maymay that the Cricut Maker is best for thicker materials and the bomb for fabric!, but love my SNC for direct cutting of stamped images.
Thank you so much for the great information. I received a circuit Maker for Christmas. I took it back as I am only doing cards and really don’t want to get into anything big like the quilting chipboard etc. I quilt but giving that up because I am a hand quilter and can’t do it anymore. I am researching something more simple. So I am looking at getting the scan cut n cut. I think it will be right up my alley for what I am going to be doing. I love making cards and have tons of stamps that I can use. Thanks again God Bless you.
I am new to cutting. I bought the Brother SNC 125i for the scanning option and wireless option last month. Also, for the automatic blade detection. My intention is to be able to scan in my wallet patterns to get precise cuts vs how I do it now and believe me wallet pieces are a pain to cut when you have a lot of orders. I did a lot of research on the machines but because I am new to cutting machines I still wasn't sure my choice was correct. After watching this video I question my selection. I am going to scan and cut today to see how the brother does what I want it to do. Ohyeah forgot to mention I use CORK Fabric. Hmmmm. I will keep you posted. I am a subscriber now! Thank you.
I love this video! I still am not sure between the maker and Brother . Im a cardmaker currently but i need a machine that can cut into wallpaper scraps. I wonder if thescan and cut can do that.
Thank you for the information. I am doing some research on which cutting machine to buy. I am a sewist and a crocheter. Those are my 2 crafts that keep me happy. I never really thought about a cutting machine until I got one of the sales flyers from JoAnn Fabrics. They are having a sale on the Cricuts. Before seeing this, I was leaning towards the Brother Scan and Cut, but now I might get the Cricut Maker. So much to decide.
My wife is buying me a cricut maker for our anniversary. I was looking into making decals and found I can make them at a far less price in the long run. I was looking at the explorer 2 and would work for me but the maker can do so much more and I rather get something I know I won’t have to upgrade later. Great video
Great video. Answered a lot of questions/concerns that I didn’t even know that I had. I have been trying to decide which machine and this helps move me closer to actually making a decision 😂
Greetings Maymay, I have been advised by my friend to purchase a brother scan and cut. Now the materials I will be using most often is Kraft Tex and leather. I make earrings out of both however, Kraft Tex mostly because I print saying on it. Most of the earrings work well in my circle punches. But sometimes I will do a special order for a business. For instance I just finished an order and the logo did not work well in a circle and was more of a rectangle shape with rounded corners which I cut by hand. So my question is, would I be able to program the machine to cut out the rectangle or other shapes perfectly? I glue two pieces together so the sayings, pictures or logo are on both sides. Thank you for your time. Peace/Joy Evelyn
I really need to get my Cricut out again. I played with it a little when I got it a couple of years ago and haven’t touched it since. I really am interested in the Scan ‘n Cut for cutting images.
You can stamp your stamps and the take a photo of it or scan it if you have a scanner. Then up load it to Design Space and make a print and cut image of it! You can resize it and change it , too.
Thank you so much Maymay, I have a Scan n cut 900 for 2 years and am very frustrated with what I can and can’t do with it, it even gives me a very hard time to write or even cut my own designs. So totally agree will probably buy the Cricut Maker when I can.
I mainly want the Brother Scan N Cut for cutting out stamped images and creating die cuts from stencils. If a stencil and die are available for same design, I will buy the stencil and scan it in to B SNC to make a die cut. I also want a Cricut Maker for other materials and bigger projects (SVG cuts website) and all the adaptive tools. Plus the Cricut Access membership. Thanks for video.
Dear Maymay, thank you for this valuable information. I initially wanted an electronic cutting machine, but like you, I live in the country where my service is not that great, our wyfy is fickle, so I chose the Vagabond, so I won't be interrupted with crafting. Now... I would like you to give us an opinion on a manual die cutting machine, because of power outages. I know you use the cuddle bug; but the is the Sizzics Big Shot... Are they both the same essentially? I'm very new to crafting THANKS TO YOU, and had my Granddaughter over last night make your Pinky Purse; which I posted on your facebook group... She is now addicted to crafting, THANKS TO YOU. Where I going with this is; is wanting a potable machine so I can take it to her home so that we can do craft together. Which one would you recommend if you were to choose one?
Hey! I'm looking to primarily do two things with a cutting machine. I have custom designs for cards that I would like to cut out, and I would also like to cut fabric for quilts. I am drawn to the Brother because it cuts out images pretty precisely with the scan feature, but not so great for the fabric cutting. It is my understanding cricut Maker is difficult to work with if you have your own drawings because the software isn't great for custom designs. Hoping you can let me know which one you think would be best, but i'm leaning towards both haha!
You can also make SVGs with the business version of the Silhouette Studio software - the other versions don't allow saving in that format. I would recommend SCAL or that if your machine uses compatible files. There are also art apps for the iPad that can be handy, some save as SVGs, some don't but the top two are Procreate and Concepts. Two totally different apps but I use them in different ways anyway! BTW I give out links to my designs for free, with my videos.
Excellent Mayamay! I would very much appreciate your opinion. I’m a guy and what I want to use my as of yet undecided machine for scale modeling. The will Involve cutting intricate stencils to airbrush markings on scale aircraft, scale military vehicles etc. for the most part I am talking straight lines, letters, some compound curves, etc. I also plan to use it to cut cores for scale building out of 1/16 basswood, ..030 inch styrene, et. Etc. also a fair amount of 2mm or less chipboard, card stock, and super thin acetate. I have a brand new 2020 MacBook Air and the latest Ipro. I think the Cricut Maker 3 is the way to go. I do believe you would feel the same but I would so very much appreciate your opinion. This was a great video!
Thanks Maymay for your guidance and wisdom. I myself am newly retired with a little more time on my side . I'm retired IT so technology doesn't intimidate me I use the latest Apple & Windows laptop. I'm looking for specializing in Premium Vinyl for Signs, Mailbox design , Stickers, decals, garden signs etc. Brother, Cricut, SIlhouette? Any thoughts my best bet...final thoughts I done intend to start a business, this would be strickly OOK Hobby items. Appreciate your feedback ...Lou
I only need a machine for scrapbooking oodles of pictures (back to the 60’s)! I bought a used Cricut Expression & 11 cartridges. I’m very interested in learning more about the SnC & will re-sale my Expressions (yes, plural). Btw, one is updated & the other isn’t I also have a gypsy (got two great bundles on eBay). I’m Leary of updating the one that isn’t because I’ve read where there have been many problems with the Gypsy, but it “needs updating” for one machine but will update the other. I don’t want to mess things up but it’s gots a bunch of files in it!
I don't want one where I have to connect and upload my stuff to somewhere to make it work. I can do the drawings myself I have Photoshop and Illustrator that can make most files, unless the machine got a native file formation, I don't want a machine that doesn't use known formats . I want to do die cuts and make stencils and I will work on my pc. I was looking at the Brother Scan n Cut. What do you think? I am just confused which one to get as I can only find comparison chars for two of their models. The Maker and the DX both cost a little over $1000 in my country so I really have to choose right.
Great Advice. Trying to decide which machine to but has been driving me nuts. I do have a small business so this decision is important. I was leaning toward the Cricuit Maker anyway. Thanks, I'm now a subscriber. Love all your tips about research too.
MayMay, On the Brother Scan and Cut DX what is the difference between the 125 and the 225?Also are there any hidden subscriptions? Ex, Cricut Air 2 is $100.00 to access Images. Do you have to have a different blade for drawing or Embossing? Have you done videos on the drawing and embossing on the Brother DX? How do you use dies on this brother? Thanks
Thank you for this video. Question.. I'm a quilter, so fabric is my thing. Considering a scan & cut dx. One thing I want it for is to copy and cut images from magazines, to applique. I think the dx 125 would work for that without having to go up to the dx 225. Would you agree? I will research the circuit maker also. Haven't looked at them. I have a circuit expression, got from my daughter, I'm trying to get familiar with. It just won't do some things I want to do. Thanks again.
Thanks Maymay for the info. I am planning to buy a cutting machine soon and have been going nuts trying to figure out which one to buy. Your video was very helpful.
Thanks for all the info, very helpful. I have the old cricuit with cartridges and haven't used it in years, used to but put it away and still in my craft room but not sure it even works. Considering a Brother scan n cut if I decide to put out that much money because I was thinking I could scan stamps and not purchase dies for my cardmaking. Thanks again, great video and God bless you and your family. Love that you shared this to help us.
Um thinking of the scan and cut also, and thinking maybe if I cut my dies and save I can create a lot if space in my craft room. Did you get one and is it working out the way you want?
You can also make sag files for your stamps to cut them on the cricut. I have the Air 2 but saving for the maker! Thanks for a super informative video!
Hello. I’m so glad I came across this video! I’ve been going back and forth about getting a cutting machine but have no idea where to start. My craft is hand painting wooden signs. I want to branch out with stencils for the ease and saving time instead of the long process I use now. However I really want to know your opinion on getting a machine and using vinyls for stencils or just using the vinyl letters instead of painting. Please help! Thank you!
I would like your opinion on which machine I should buy. I do want to make larger than 24” vinyl and stencils. I would also like to cut 1/4” wood. Right now I cut tiny wood objects with my scroll saw😳. I don’t have any internet issues at all. Do you think you would provide any scan and cut tutorials in the future?
Thank you for your work!!! for a kid art little school. To make many many different design and a lot number of them. Like take a picture o make a drawing and print an stencil of it. With good internet 😜 what machine you see will fit. Thank you again from Basque Country!
I'm not sure which is better for my use. I am going to use it to make stickers and cut little pieces for my resin keychains. Which one should I get? Maker 3 or Brother SDX125E?
If you were a Bible Journal crazy lady and printed a lot of stickers, which would you buy. I have the Cricut and feel like a waste a lot of paper with the Print Then Cut option. I am thinking I should have gotten the Scan and Cut. Am I missing something that the Cricut can do? A way that I can print a whole page of stickers and have the Cricut just cut out what I printed?
Wow! Super video. I am like so many who have done research and could not tell which machine to use. At first I thought the ScanNCut, then a friend said the Cricut. I did more research and figure I want to get the Cricut Maker. I do all... scrapbooking, journals, quilting.... Still wasn't sure. After watching your video, I see that I do need to get the Maker. Now.... got to to save up for it!!! I want to pay cash. Thank you so much. One question though... the online website where I get the designs, do I need to pay for a membership?
Thanks for this Video, very helpful. I have a Cricut Joy which I love & I have a Scan n Cut which after 2 years finally came out of the box today. 6 hours later & I'm just not feeling it & have for the past week been toying with the idea of getting the Maker. I find Cricut software so much more intuitive & I know that a Maker will get used way more than this Scan n Cut. Space wise I don't have room for 2 big machines & i'm not sure if i'll utilise the S&C enough above scanning stamped items for cutting. Dilemmas!
Thank you for sharing. I am new to cutting machines and was really looking forward to getting a scan and cut, but after much searching it appears to not cut as many materials as a cricut would. Can you clarify if you believe the main thing that keeps the scan and cut “out of reach” for you is the design software itself? Or would you say it is within the cutting function or way the machine works/doesn’t work? Thank you kindly for your time!
I have been leaning very strongly to getting the Scan and Cut to use in scanning Applique quilt patterns to cut. I don’t want to be disappointed in the machine, but I don’t think Cricut Maker will scan.?
Cricut will not scan. I am also leaning toward the Brother Scan and Cut, and for fabric (and maybe some vinyl) would you mind sharing if you’ve found one that works well for you? Kindly, Jade
Thank you so much for answering the questions that I have about which machine to buy. I want one for cutting quilt pieces so a cricut maker will be the best for this, I just want to make sure. I was considering the scan n cut dx but I need some thing that is relatively easy to use. I have this thing about buying sewing machines, cutters etc and if they are hard to use I just leave them in the box and don't use. Once again thanks for your help.
I am looking for machine to make my cards. I do mainly greeting cards and special Christmas cards. I would like to make pop up cards this year and need a cutting machine I can scan on my sample card. I used a cricket and liked it fine just not in a financial position to belong to a monthly membership. I am a senior and on a fixed income. I do little with fabric mainly beautiful paper and would like to also work with pattered paper.I liked your class on the different machines.
May May you are a gem. So appreciate you. I own 2 of the Cricut Makers (purchased one and won the other.) I had the Air and gifted it to my sister-in-law (it was a great machine also.) I am not an avid stamper so the Brother Scan n Cut has not been on my radar, but interesting.
Maymay I'm new to the electronic cutting realm. I make tumblers and only need it to cut stencils for peekaboo style tumblers and cutting permanent vinyl for decals. Should I go with the scan and cut or a simpler one like the cricket Joy?
hi ! i loved how you explained the differences of each cutting machines and liked that you're honest with your opinions also, I'm planning to buy a cutting machine , at first I decided to buy cricut but then i saw cameo and scan n cut , im confused already 😅😅😅 but i think i'd go with cricut, so just to ask, is it only for iphones? how about the offline option, does it work with android phones ? thank you so much for your response 😊😊😊
I did research before I purchased my machine. I watched videos and went to the sites of each product. I have the Scan N Cut because I like to cut out my stamped and print N cut images. I have the Silhouette Cameo because I am a paper crafter and it does what I need it to do. I know they are all similar, but I liked the Silhouette. Great video. I have shared. tfs
Thank you for sharing (also, love the user name!) I am new to cutting machines and was looking at the scan n cut 225 model, mainly for fabric, paper and vinyl. After much searching on RUclips am still unsure if that or the cricut works better. Long time crafter, recently became disabled and could use help with fussy cutting smaller and more detailed things. Would you say the Brother does a good job of that? Have you noticed the auto it feature ruining your mats? Thank you kindly for your time and consideration, Jada
Thank you so much for doing this video! I want a Machine so I don't have to fussy cut or buy dies anymore. Which model of the Scan and Cut do you refers? ❤😘
Hi Maymay, I want to start making my own stencils from my design. I don’t sew anymore which machine would be best for me I do a lot of card making & painting on different things. I also have free watercolor classes for children so is there anyway to make your own stamps? Thank you for all your wonderful help & videos❤️
MayMay, I need to make a felt Balloon (the best description I can come up with) that is 3" x7" out of 3mil felt. I need to make a great number of these for a potential invention. Ideally, I'f I had a 12" wide by 72" long peice of felt, I'd like to run it through a cutter and make 4 across and 10 down! Is this possible? I'm looking at the maker 3, and have talked to Brother tech support as well. I would hate to use some form of backing plate, because of all the extra work cutting the felt cloth down! I'm not thinking of using a cutter for heavy production work, only using this to get going on 50-100 of my products! For production I'd call a commersial company and have them die cut this item. This is the ONLY thing I'd use this cutter for. After that, I would probably hand this off to my wife or daughter to use for a potential hobby. I've listen to a great number of RUclips videos' and really enjoyed this video. You have both feet on the ground, are honest, and have presented this video in a very organized manner that makes a great deal of sense. I give you Two Thumbs Up, and that's only because I'm limited by having only two hands with Two Thumbs! Dan
Think I’ll just stick with my Sizzix big kick and fuzzy cutting. By the time I learn an electronic machine and deal with internet outages, I could have made many crafts. I’m not one to buy dies for all stamp sets either due to storage & cost. Thanks for info
Hi thanks for your time and dedication explaining the machines. I’m looking for one that I can cut to transfer to fabric. But also that i can create new things to be cut. So I like the idea of scanning, so do you think with the brother one I can create in my computer and then transfer the image to be cut with an pen drive?
Hey Maymay, I plan to start my own business within the next month or so. I have been making things of all sorts for years but I always give them away never sell. Well, I plan to turn that around because so many people tell me I should sell. I plan to make plaques/ signs with vinyl, leather jewelry, along with multiple other things. I have been battling between the brother and the maker. My internet is not that good. You never know when it will work and for how long. I think I am leaning more towards the scan and cut because I love to draw and with the brother, I can what I draw and turn it into multiple things. What is your personal opinion?
Maymay, Thank you so much for this video which was brilliant and so informative. I currently own a Brother ScanNCut DX which has been really testing my patience and as a result I have preordered a Cricut Maker. From what you have said in this video I am so glad that I have done this and it has made me even more excited and I can hardly wait for it to arrive. BTW I love your pullover and wondered if you made it yourself.
Hello MayMay, your so awesome. I want to get my first cutter. To begin I need to cut vinyl. Then I would like to get into all the other cool possibilities. My internet is not the best wither so am debating the Cricut. Any suggestions?
I’m wanting to do T-shirts and iron-ins/press-ons, I’ve looked through the comments to see if this question was answered and have not been able to find an answer, which is the best machine?
I have the Cricut Explore Air and have become frustrated for two reasons: my internet is not the fastest and I had issues with design space, and I also had difficulty cutting images out of the Stampin’ Up colored card stock. I also have a SNC. I agree they are used for different projects; however the SNC has no problem cutting the SU card stock. Any suggestions on cutting SU colored card stock with the Cricut Explore are appreciated. Enjoyed your video. Thank you.
I realize I am watching this late! I am new to card making, I do not see myself making other crafts. what do you think of the Cricut Joy? Also, to clarify, using Cricut means needing to use online dies? Any that are purchased from your shop would need to be used in a Big Shot or Cuttlebug type machine? Is that correct? so very much to learn!
Hey MayMay. I started on a mini cricut about 8 or 9 years ago. Upgraded to an expression (still have my expression) I mostly cut vinyl and paper. I really need to upgrade. What happens to my cartridges that I've collected over the years? I love my Mickey mouse one and my Pixar favs. If I upgrade, would I have to buy them again to use online or how does that work? I want to upgrade so bad but I don't know what one to get. The maker looks cool but I'm really not sure if I need all the extras.
Thank you for your insight❤ I do have a Cricut question...I have an older model, Explore One. My original DS usage was on an old computer that is on it's way out. When I have attempted to find DS on the Windows 10 HP that I purchased last year, there is no Microsoft app available for Design Space. Is there another software or location to be able to access DS for the newer pc? Thank you for your time;)
I'm trying to figure out which one to buy...Cricut Maker or Brother DX125E. I would be using it for cutting out material for applique and also making iron on's for t-shirts and sweatshirts.
Great video!! If I want it for Die cutting paper. For all my Stamps. I'm a card maker. What do you recommend? Brand, make and model...Thank you so much for this video.
Hello MayMay, thank you for this video. I am a quilter, well beginner quilter and I am thinking about getting a cutting machine for applique. What machine would you recommend? Thank you for all you do for us.
First.. amazing video! Second I'm new to the cutting machines I have been battling the choice between circuit and scan n cut. I don't have one single craft... i do a little of everything (would like to) as hobby at home. Can you help me decide?
Just starting knifemaking would like to etch steel utilising vinyl plus my computer skills are at best adequate plus I use a Mac ,seen a few videos but am out of my league with this craft and would greatly appreciate your imput. Thank you
Just a quick note about the Scan&Cut (Brother).
The software for the silhouette is amazing too, so much so I bought one and HATED it, but still use the software with my scan n cut
OMG.... SO INFORMATIVE
THANK YOU
THANK YOU
THANK YOUUUUUU!!!!...
ALL I WANT TO DO IS MAKE SHIRTS.....
which do you recommend 🤔
Scan N Cut does have free online design space and offline for PC users, Canvas. Works great, use it all the time.
Can you cut fabric with the scan and cut?
Hello May-May, Thank you so much for your opinion on machines. I purchased the Cricut Explore Air 2 over the Cricut Maker because I could still use my old Cricut cartridges. Now if I start using it, it would be great. Looking for some RUclips classes. Have a nice day and thank you again.
Thank you. I bought the cricut maker. I had no idea about the brother scan and cut. Went to meissners and was told about it. Arrived home to compare came across your site. I’ll be back again. Thank you again.
Is the circuit maker do the same thing brother scan do. I want to do tshirt and mugs, towels, blankets, dress, etc which machine is the best for me
Thanks for doing this video.
Finally a down to earth honest video...TFS!!!
I guess, I just want a machine
that can fussy cut, etc. and also a machine that can do other crafts like putting stickers on things and being able to put decals or whatever on clothes, etc.
I want to do T-shirts,mugs, wine glasses and other crafts like wood and saying to put in frames.which machine is best?
Thank you.
Congrats!
Hi! Could you please tell us if it worked in the end? I’m undecided and this is similar to what I would use it for...
I love this video! I still am not sure between the maker and Brother . Im a cardmaker currently but i need a machine that can cut into wallpaper scraps. I wonder if thescan and cut can do that.
Hi which machine would you recommend I look at for printing stickers for planning. Thank you for this informative video, I just ran across it.
Maymay, this is an awesome video. I'm researching these machines and you are helping a great deal which way I need to go that suits ME. tfs ; )
I’m a quilter, so I’m guessing scan and cut would be best. Right?
Am I also into fabrics. Price for the circuit is EXPENSIVE.
Thank you so very much for the information. It is truly appreciated.
Merry Christmas MayMay ❣️
Thanks Maymay for the info. I am planning to buy a cutting machine soon and have been going nuts trying to figure out which one to buy. Your video was very helpful.
Great job explaining. I am thinking the brother scan and cut is for me. Want to use it so i won't need to purchase dies. I do card making.
@@AussieCraftSupplies No I still haven't gotten one, I'm such a procrastinator. lol.
Your "opinions " are very helpful and made a lot of sense to me. Thank you.
Thank you so much for user friendly advice, I thought you put this together really well.
I’ve got the old Cricut Expression and I still love it
Karen Dyring me too haha
My craft(s) is sewing/quilting and card making. Which machine should i get.
I will not rent a product -> (cricut $9 mo) If I buy it I want to own it! Which cutter doesn't charge a monthly fee to use?
The brother doesn’t require a membership. I have been doing research and it seems even their software for their scan and cut is free
I have the 650W but you should get the DX which is the newest version.
I have the very first cricut expression machine and I love it, but since I started quilting I’m interested in the maker.
Dan
I love your video and I'll be following. I want to print cookie stencils on card stock and more importantly print them on 6mil blank stencil sheets.
Think I’ll just stick with my Sizzix big kick and fuzzy cutting. By the time I learn an electronic machine and deal with internet outages, I could have made many crafts. I’m not one to buy dies for all stamp sets either due to storage & cost. Thanks for info
I have the old expression but it will not work, so I'm looking to buy a new Cricut. Thank for the advice. Cricut maker it is. Again thanks Maymay
I had a Silhouette...sent it down the road....too complicated. I have a Scan n Cut and a new Cricut .....now to le a rn to use them! Lol. Sandy
This is the best advise Vedic I have seen thank you
I have the Cricut Explore Air and have become frustrated for two reasons: my internet is not the fastest and I had issues with design space, and I also had difficulty cutting images out of the Stampin’ Up colored card stock.
My hubby got me a Cricut air 2 for. Christmas. It is out of the but I can’t start playing with it until Christmas Day!
Awesome....I have the cricut explore and I " have" the original little cricut... It's not working right now and I miss it so...
Ginni Barr She stated in the video that the Cricut Maker is the better machine for cutting fabric.
Great video!! If I want it for Die cutting paper. For all my Stamps. I'm a card maker. What do you recommend? Brand, make and model...Thank you so much for this video.
If you want to scan stamped images and cut them out the Scan n Cut is your machine. I would get the newest one you can afford.
Thanks to you Maymay, Cricut Maker definitely gets my vote!! I absolutely love, love, love my Maker🙋🏻😍😘💕💜
Hello MayMay, thank you for this video. I am a quilter, well beginner quilter and I am thinking about getting a cutting machine for applique. What machine would you recommend?

What would you choose for leather or embroidery patches?
First.. amazing video! Second I'm new to the cutting machines I have been battling the choice between circuit and scan n cut. I don't have one single craft... i do a little of everything (would like to) as hobby at home. Can you help me decide?
