I want a ES game where akavir invades tamriel again and your goal is to unite all tamriel because it is so divided and you must repeal the akavir from tamriel
I'm expecting them to expand into Season 3 once TESVI becomes a thing. Obviously there's still massive amount of interesting information and lore in TES. It's massive. I think this series was one of the most labor-intensive and complex to write/voice and put together. Maybe they just need a pause from this.
I think they said something about not continuing currently because the guy they pay to be the storyteller lives in Greece and the government isn't letting money come in so they had to stop.
Thank you for helping me understand out of all the videos I've watched yours were the ones that made everything click into place and it all made sense to me ! FOREVER GRATEFUL!
I feel I should mention, this video is missing from the Elder Scrolls Lore series 1, for some reason. I didn't know if it was intentional on your part, Shoddy, or not. It may be a little helpful, given otherwise the first episode is on the Daedric Princes, during which you refer back to this video.
Just wanted to say up-front, Thanks for making this series! I'm part of a gaming group that has played Warhammer Online for a couple of years now. Since they've announced it's finally shutting down, we're all looking for another game. We've generally agreed that Elder Scrolls Online is GOING to be it... but we're stuck waiting for it to be released (in 3 or so months). So one of my gaming friends suggested I buy Skyrim and start playing.... especially after I qualified for their most-recent weekend Beta and had a brief look at that. So, after 2 hours (only, I was working most of that weekend) in the Beta, and 2 hours in Skyrim (just got the game yesterday), I'm hooked! And I wanted to learn more about the history / lore. So, again, thanks for creating this series! Just what I needed !
Although the Eight Divines are Aedra, there were other Aedra besides the gods we know and love. Besides Lorkhan and Magnus, there were plenty of others, most of whom fled Mundus when they realized that Lorkhan's plan to create Mundus was draining the divinity and power from their very beings. Magnus was the first to flee, creating the greatest portal to Aetherius, the sun. The other Aedra, weakened from the creation of Mundus, fled soon afterwards, and their smaller portals to Aetherius became the stars. As I understand it, some of these Aedra became the Daedra, creating their own worlds without using their own life force to do so. (Because "Hey Lorkhan, you twit, this is the RIGHT way to make a world!") The lesser Daedra were simply manifestations of the will of the Daedric Princes. The Eight Divines, unlike their erstwhile brethren, stayed in Mundus to complete the task of creating Nirn, giving willingly of themselves. Because their power has been so drained by this great effort, they now have very little influence over the world, with most of their abilities being channeled through temples, shrines, amulets, and priests and priestesses. Alright, my fellow lore geeks, what did I get wrong? I'm eager to learn from the mistakes I'm sure I've made! :D
The Daedra were the gods who never helped in the first place. The Magna Ge and Magnus fled before they lost the enitirety of their power. Then there are eight Aedra who became the planets, known as the Eight Divines, and the other, weaker Aedra, who became the Ehlofey, the ancestors of men and elves. Other than that, great job!
Oh man, this is wonderful! Please, make subtitles in all your narration stories of the elder scrolls. With the subtitles i and the other peoples can translate with the option of the youtube. I love the Elder Scrolls universe, but its difficult to me learn things about her, because the all content found is in english. If you can, please make subtitles in your videos. Congratulations for your work!
thanks so much for these videos, im a real sucker for TES lore and always try to share it with other people too. there is very good contnent here and i like the presentation, although i wouldve talked a bit more about the process of creation and there is one thing i never understood, did lorkhan and the aedra create mundus or just nirn? the act of creating a planet is not the same as that of creating a plane/universe. also, what is most admirable of TES lore is (as you said) the variety of sources, and the antropological and cultural studies you can make of them and the idea that there are multiple interpretations of certain dieties and some cultures regard them as good or bad and see their teachings differently depending on their beliefs. there is a real process of critical thinking and examination for the real lore delver to discern what things he can regard more or less as fact and what things are alterable by interpretation
well there were 2 primorial beings before everything else who entered the void and by merely existing, created time and space, after they killed each other, lots of stuff happened along with the Aedra and Daedra being born out of there death, along the line Aetherius, Oblivion and mundus came into being, see it as this first you start with Nirn (the earth) around Nirn is Mundus (the universe) Mundus is infinite in size, but at the same time, it is fully surrounded by a second dimension called Oblivion, Oblivion itself also infinite in size, is ones again fully surrounded by Aetherius, what in turn itself is also surrounded by "the void" what was the primordial existence. due to Oblivion being a second dimension and Aetherius being a third dimension, Mundus, Oblivion and Aetherius exist at the same place at the same time. but the limited mortal mind is unable to process this (in the eyes of the gods, all 3 realms can be seen at the same time and space, if they would by example look into the sky from Nirn, they would be able to see every location of both Aetherius and Oblivion even if they just watch at the same location) Something like that is impossible for the limited mortal mind to understand, so according to lore our minds "bend" what we try to see into something our minds can comprehend. Thus all of Oblivion as the second dimension appears first in our human eyes, due to Oblivion being chaotic and incomprehensible, we are unable to see what is actually in Oblivion, so it just looks like a complete black void (the night sky) Aetherius is the third dimencion, and is in human mind placed behind Oblivion, due to the Aedra fleeing during the creation of Nirn, the stars we see are gates/holes tore in Oblivion by the Aedra into Aetherius, the light of the stars are in reality holes in dimensions, the light itself being the magical energy's of Aetherius. the sun is the hole Magnus himself tore into Oblivion, being so large, it lights up Nirn with the light and energy of Aetherius, allowing the mortal races to use magic. The Moons Secunda and Masser are in actuallty a divine realm of a Aedra, being unable to process the existance of a infinite realm, our human eyes vieuw the center of those worlds in the sky as a "orb" or planet instead. The same goes for the other Planets on the sky (from the 8 divines) tough there is no proof as of yet, some speculate that Masser and Secunda (due to being dead realms) might be leftovers of the realm of Lorkhan.
jefthereaper Mundus is actually finite. It is the limit imposed on an infinite Aurbis. "Nirn (Ehnofex for 'Arena') is a finite ball of matter and magic made from all of the god planets at the beginning of time, when Lorkhan tricked/convinced/forced the gods to create the mortal plane. Nirn is the mortal plane and the mortal planet, which is the same thing. Its creation upset the cosmic balance; now all souls (especially the Aedra-Daedra/Gods-Demons) have a vested interest in Nirn (especially its starry heart, Tamriel)." Masser and Secunda are the broken bits of Lorkhan's body.
Wow...Valenwood sounds beautiful. Great video series, man. It's informative, the music sets the perfect mood, and the fact that you've got the voice for this sort of thing helps too. xD
I know what you mean...I remember watching this when I was in high school addicted to learning about Elder Scrolls. I feel like I've lost a lot of my innocence since then.
Undead Puppet To be honest, I've been wanting to do so since day 1, but haven't decided yet just to wait and see if maybe, just maybe, the physical release includes any map or any cool little thing. However, I doubt it. With some exceptions (Witcher 3) , physical releases with goodies are almost non-existant. Anyway, congratulations. Enjoy this AWESOME game!
I feel a strong connection to Tamriel, maybe from growing up saving it over and over on the games since Daggerfall.. This series pulls my heart strings like a frigging guitar T.T
@@linkalot7415 Perhaps not that haha. Living under the constant threat of reality itself being shattered along with dragons, skeletons and zombies running around. Not to mention the almost endless wars.

Monkey_Gaming 334 Sad thing is I enjoy it. Games like D&D and Call of Cthulhu are some of my favorite things. Therefore Dice role combat doesn't bother me.
I have played all the games but haven't really grasped the reason I am playing for. With ESO coming out I decided to dig in deeper and found this series to learn more about the lore. Without a doubt, I now comprehend things so much clearer and even if ESO doesn't use any of this lore at all, I'm glad I watched it just for the entertainment. Good job!

+IIIRobIII I dunno, I personally feel that exploring a whole n'other continent would be nice, maybe encountering new sentien men, mer, or beasts. Maybe a few new gameplay mechanics, and some daedra... Anywhoes, no matter what, as long as we can add to the lore of the Elder Scrolls I'll be happy :D
I love that you speak during your narration as if we are all residents of mundas and have all of the same qualities and powers- you make excellent video's and really help me understand my favorite game. Thanks!
there is more than enough bandits outside of whiterun to obliterate it with whiteruns resources they could continue on in a campaign against the already weakened (by civil war) country of skyrim
Loved the narration! And music works so well in flow with the narration especially during the mention of the slave rebellion! Excellent work! Thank you so much for the efforts!! I'll be off to watch the rest of the series now
I got hooked watching your Fallout lore. I'm going to dig into this series tonight. You're awesome man I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. I put hundreds of hours into these games and then experiencing the story being told back to you like this is kind of surreal.
I'm a massive Elder Scrolls fan, but i'd just like to put it out there that the Warcraft universes lore i would say is deeper. Not trying to be a dick, just putting it out there for anyone who loves deep game lore, and if you love TES lore, you will absolutely love Warcraft's
Michael Novotny Lol nope, don't get me wrong TES lore is masterpiece, i just want to get it out there that if you are a lore fan the Warcraft lore is superb.
Do you work for blizzard? Did you write some lore that you want us to read? Trying to figure out why you have come to an elder scrolls lore recap and started telling people Warcraft is better.
Keith Simon Hahaha, no :/ But let's just say Algalon the Observer lore is the best. No but seriously as a lore fan myself i love reading game lore even if i havn't played the game, and from my experience warcraft lore is extremely deep
artistic style and effect. the people who make these videos probably have an appreciation for aesthetics. apparently their appreciation does not jive with yours, but i'm pretty sure that's giving you too much credit. it gives it a cool storybook feel, nice and historical and cultural and almost nostalgic. it's neat.
ThomasWinn1 it leaves a room for us to imagine the details...If only you use a little bit of imagination,it will looks better than any enb presets out there!
They arent blurred they are just turned to vector pictures, probably so their size can be fitted to video (they would be pixelated if they were bitmap pictures)
I remember when Skyrim was coming out I looked for videos like these! No lore videos yet existed, I even considered making them myself. Thankyou for this
Lorkan did it for them though. They would not have done it had they known, and given how knowledgeable Lorkan was he was likely aware of the what would happen next. If any are a trickster though it'd be Magnus, it's awful convenient that the one who told the gods what would is also the one who avoided it.
I've been with the Elder Scrolls games only as soon as Oblivion's release, and yes, I have long since played Morrowind as well. What keeps bringing me back to the series is the lore, so I thank you a hundred times over for this series. Sometimes, it's nice to have it all in one place.
"Overexaggeration" isnt a word. You could of just said "exaggeration" and it would of had the same meaning. There is no reason whatsoever to add the "over".
***** not at all. Some people tell me that but its simply not true. The word "exaggeration" doesnt have a limit to it. No matter how much or how ridiculous you exaggerate, its still called only an exaggeration. When you add "over" to the word, it completely destroys the purpose of the word.
There are nine Provences and nine devines. What if each devine looks over a Provence like a guard? Like Akotash and Cyrodill as they're both are the most powerful forces of the gods and Tamriel.
Ondolemar the Banana Elf although that could be considered, Akavir has god knows how many Provences so they could be look over by the Deadra. Like Martin Septim said ' Adrea and Deadra ' (didn't put in the whole sentence) so since adrea and Deadra are different who's to say Akavir and Tamriel arn't opposites and Deadra look after them if this is true then that could apply to the summerset isle and the other Provences are looked over anyways but that was a good argument and it is just a theory so i t probably be wrong anyways.
TheGuyWithTheWeirdVoice ! also nine holds and counties in oblivion anf skyrim, the nine holds of the nine provinces owned by the nine gods created by nine dancing lorkhans

@@Tealdragon204 U are right about that. F76 was like entirely for money and that was a reason I didn't buy the game. But still most fans believe that ES6 and starfield will be offline. That's a reason why I have my trust on Bathesda who let haven't becomed EA who only talk shit about Singleplayer games. If Bathesda could do those 2 games right then it might be a game changer for Bathesda.
@@rahulsar2030 offline doesn't equal good.
That moment when Nirn means Arena in Ehlnofex.
I am so happy you started the lore series. It was the way I 1st found u guys. I find them thoroughly enjoyable & am now playing catch up w/ all the other ESO vids.
Man, I never seem to have enough of these videos! I keep coming back...
Why does this make me wanna cry?
Zamn over nine years ago that's wild
Says 10 now, dam
I want a ES game where akavir invades tamriel again and your goal is to unite all tamriel because it is so divided and you must repeal the akavir from tamriel
Could you imagine an Elder Scrolls RTS with a plot like that? Shit, let's just throw in some Daedra just for kicks, too.
+Geoffrey Precht I want an Elder Scrolls RTS set during the Great War. Or, a second to great war ,
* enter oblivion theme*
You'll probably have to wait 'till 2019 before you can get it. :/
If this was really the plot, I would definently wait that long
or 2036....
I come back some months later and the video now has over half a million views. Nicely done, ShoddyCast !
I started watching before Eso, for Eso. Still.awesome to watch years later. Peace and love.
Alright the chances are so low but I must find the music that starts at 11:32, can anyone help me?
use shazam on iphone - it could tell you prob
@@Tepera I tried and shazam wouldn't work but I was eventually able to find it! It's Neravar rising reprise!
Why don't they do any more Elder Scrolls Lore? Surely there is more to speak on and review. I loved this series. I could watch these forever.
Great work man love this series. So much i didnt know
Thank you for helping me understand out of all the videos I've watched yours were the ones that made everything click into place and it all made sense to me ! FOREVER GRATEFUL!
This series sparked my love for history. Thanks Bethesda/Shoddycast!
I feel I should mention, this video is missing from the Elder Scrolls Lore series 1, for some reason. I didn't know if it was intentional on your part, Shoddy, or not. It may be a little helpful, given otherwise the first episode is on the Daedric Princes, during which you refer back to this video.
For real this channel was great man "was"
R.I.P.
Compare this prologue to the Fallout lore series prologue. The contrast is stunning.
+PastorOfMuppets what do you mean?
+Carolus Rex maaaan, don't gimme dat shit.
Apples and oranges. Shit fallout's timeline is largely based on real life lol
Carolus Rex Because apples are godlike and oranges are just okay
this series had made me enjoy the elder scrolls universe more than i ever could thank you very much
Just wanted to say up-front, Thanks for making this series!
Also, don't watch RUclips for lore. Read books or look at the wiki or the UESP. ShoddyCast and all the others are shit at lore.
Geoffrey Precht s
Zaric Zhakaron is pretty good.
your lore is better than mine.
Mundus and Nirn are tied together.
well there were 2 primorial beings before everything else who entered the void and by merely existing, created time and space, after they killed each other, lots of stuff happened along with the Aedra and Daedra being born out of there death,
along the line Aetherius, Oblivion and mundus came into being,
see it as this
first you start with Nirn (the earth) around Nirn is Mundus (the universe)
Mundus is infinite in size, but at the same time, it is fully surrounded by a second dimension called Oblivion,
Oblivion itself also infinite in size, is ones again fully surrounded by Aetherius, what in turn itself is also surrounded by "the void" what was the primordial existence.
due to Oblivion being a second dimension and Aetherius being a third dimension, Mundus, Oblivion and Aetherius exist at the same place at the same time.
but the limited mortal mind is unable to process this (in the eyes of the gods, all 3 realms can be seen at the same time and space, if they would by example look into the sky from Nirn, they would be able to see every location of both Aetherius and Oblivion even if they just watch at the same location)
Something like that is impossible for the limited mortal mind to understand, so according to lore our minds "bend" what we try to see into something our minds can comprehend.
Thus all of Oblivion as the second dimension appears first in our human eyes, due to Oblivion being chaotic and incomprehensible, we are unable to see what is actually in Oblivion, so it just looks like a complete black void (the night sky)
Aetherius is the third dimencion, and is in human mind placed behind Oblivion, due to the Aedra fleeing during the creation of Nirn, the stars we see are gates/holes tore in Oblivion by the Aedra into Aetherius,
the light of the stars are in reality holes in dimensions, the light itself being the magical energy's of Aetherius.
the sun is the hole Magnus himself tore into Oblivion, being so large, it lights up Nirn with the light and energy of Aetherius, allowing the mortal races to use magic.
The Moons Secunda and Masser are in actuallty a divine realm of a Aedra,
being unable to process the existance of a infinite realm, our human eyes vieuw the center of those worlds in the sky as a "orb" or planet instead. The same goes for the other Planets on the sky (from the 8 divines)
tough there is no proof as of yet, some speculate that Masser and Secunda (due to being dead realms) might be leftovers of the realm of Lorkhan.
jefthereaper Mundus is actually finite.
Its creation upset the cosmic balance; now all souls (especially the Aedra-Daedra/Gods-Demons) have a vested interest in Nirn (especially its starry heart, Tamriel)."
Masser and Secunda are the broken bits of Lorkhan's body.
mojonation1487 Meh, I was close enough XD
thanks, amazingly useful guys!
Man this is awesome! Thank you for sharing this with us, i'm excited to watch all the other videos.
Wow...Valenwood sounds beautiful.
Great video series, man. It's informative, the music sets the perfect mood, and the fact that you've got the voice for this sort of thing helps too. xD
Holy fuck this was 7 years ago? Time really flys by
I know what you mean...I remember watching this when I was in high school addicted to learning about Elder Scrolls. I feel like I've lost a lot of my innocence since then.
Can't wait until Friday to play the Special Edition on my PS4!!! (28Oct'16)
Yup I pre ordered it.
I just pre-ordered it!!! hehehe Cheers!
Fairs. It's better to download it anyway. So you could not break it or lose it.
Exactly.
Even before Skyrim ive always played a nord in all elder scrolls games. Anyone else got a weird dedication to a specific race?

Imperial
+Darkz Gaming both redguard and khajiit
I create both in every game
+Darkz Gaming I've played a bosmer archer/thief since Morrowind.
+Darkz Gaming, I got Nord as well, i live in Scandinavia (irl), so i can relate better.
Why are you reading this? Typical milk drinkers.
This is quite possibly the best RUclips video I've seen in a very long time. Freakin' epic.
Found this looking for lore for someone new to Elder Scrolls, this is really well done thank you for putting it together.
What about pyandonea, esroniet, yneslea, cathnoquey, and roscrea?
I feel a strong connection to Tamriel, maybe from growing up saving it over and over on the games since Daggerfall.. This series pulls my heart strings like a frigging guitar T.T
Same bro. I wanna live in tamriel'
@@linkalot7415 Perhaps not that haha. Living under the constant threat of reality itself being shattered along with dragons, skeletons and zombies running around. Not to mention the almost endless wars.
That does it. I gotta play Morrowind now.
+Creepy Logan Love hearing the music of Morrowind too (Makes me smile :-D
+Creepy Logan First Bethesda game and RPG I ever played, best soundtrack for sure. Its dated dont get that wrong but its worth atleast a short playthrough(main story).
oh, your gonna have fun. ESPECIALLY the combat. your gonna have SOOO much fun with that!

Sad thing is I enjoy it. Games like D&D and Call of Cthulhu are some of my favorite things. Therefore Dice role combat doesn't bother me.
+Creepy Logan You can fly, you can fly, you can fly!!!! And get Chrysamere
Good job!
Hey ShoddyCast ! Thanx for all your hard work ! I have recommended viewing (and liking) your season 1 Elder Scrolls series to my RP guild. Getting ready for Teso, your vidéos are a must see !
You should put these on I tunes so that people can listen to these on the road.

+IIIRobIII look into Skyblivion? fan mod but still has what you'd be looking for
+calvin stearns Nah, Cyrodiil is supposed to be colorful and sunny, Skyrim is supposed to be cold and dark, Lore btw.
I love that you speak during your narration as if we are all residents of mundas and have all of the same qualities and powers- you make excellent video's and really help me understand my favorite game. Thanks!
Very nice work man. One of the best Lore series I have seen on any game.

what if every bandit in skyrim to cyodil banded together and took over both those provinces
I don't think there'd be enough of them to take on all the other forces in those areas.
there is more than enough bandits outside of whiterun to obliterate it with whiteruns resources they could continue on in a campaign against the already weakened (by civil war) country of skyrim
Nope they get stomped.
good point
Evan Michael Sutka They wouldn´t be able to overcome the best military machine in Tamriel´s history: the Imperial Legion.
WoW lore is generic stuff
Curious. Do you know of a video series like this one for Warcraft lore?
Y U BLUR THE PHOTOS!!!
artistic style and effect. the people who make these videos probably have an appreciation for aesthetics. apparently their appreciation does not jive with yours, but i'm pretty sure that's giving you too much credit. it gives it a cool storybook feel, nice and historical and cultural and almost nostalgic. it's neat.
i dont mind the effects but its just kinda annoying how we cannot see the full photo its just like blurred out.
ThomasWinn1 it leaves a room for us to imagine the details...If only you use a little bit of imagination,it will looks better than any enb presets out there!
Allot of it is probably because of the disparity of graphics between different games. So basically you bring it all down to a commonly bad graphics.
They arent blurred they are just turned to vector pictures, probably so their size can be fitted to video (they would be pixelated if they were bitmap pictures)
Valenwood pls bethesda
It would be really beautiful.
I remember when Skyrim was coming out I looked for videos like these! No lore videos yet existed, I even considered making them myself. Thankyou for this
LORKHAN DID NOTHING WRONG
Tawny Owl he didn't tell the aedra what would happen to their divinity...so he did do something pretty bad
Lorkan did it for them though. They would not have done it had they known, and given how knowledgeable Lorkan was he was likely aware of the what would happen next. If any are a trickster though it'd be Magnus, it's awful convenient that the one who told the gods what would is also the one who avoided it.
As a Brexit voter, I sympathise with Magnus and his unwillingness to sacrifice any more of his power on the alter of Lorkan's trickery
fucking. awesome.
Skyrim belongs to the nords!
Even with limited resources, I am amazed at how well you have presented this video. Well done, seriously.
I've been with the Elder Scrolls games only as soon as Oblivion's release, and yes, I have long since played Morrowind as well. What keeps bringing me back to the series is the lore, so I thank you a hundred times over for this series. Sometimes, it's nice to have it all in one place.
i want elder scroll with all continent!! ALL ! give me chills :D
+Purna Khatiwada It would take years to finish, and with all the small bugs and corrupted savefiles, you would never be able to reach the end :P
Why don't we finish making games at Tamriel first? Don't be impatient :p
Yea :) but i want similar to Elder Scrol V that include akaviri, the black marse, elseware and all in one. it be awesome though!
+Purna Khatiwada give eso a lil time
+Joshua Caskey ESO was not made by Bethesda. I personally enjoy that MMO, but MMOs are not for everyone, and a lot of people dislike ESO.
Shortest 11 minutes ever. Any one else agree?
"Overexaggeration" isnt a word. You could of just said "exaggeration" and it would of had the same meaning. There is no reason whatsoever to add the "over".
MORE EXAGGERATION. MORE OF IT. NOW.
EXAGGERATION FOR THE EXAGGERATION GOD! HYPERBOLE FOR THE HYPERBOLE THRONE!
What is happening...
Aldo Solares would have been funnier if you said "resulting consequences"
***** not at all. Some people tell me that but its simply not true. The word "exaggeration" doesnt have a limit to it. No matter how much or how ridiculous you exaggerate, its still called only an exaggeration. When you add "over" to the word, it completely destroys the purpose of the word.
I already knew everything these videos talk about, but I fucking love this series with an undying passion. Never leave us Shoddycast
These guys were simply the best at the craft of lore diving.
There are nine Provences and nine devines. What if each devine looks over a Provence like a guard? Like Akotash and Cyrodill as they're both are the most powerful forces of the gods and Tamriel.
That actually sounds like a pretty believable theory
And it came to my head after watching the video.
Ondolemar the Banana Elf I have no idea I'm tired and I'm gonna go to sleep. I''ll think about it tomorrow.
TheGuyWithTheWeirdVoice ! also nine holds and counties in oblivion anf skyrim, the nine holds of the nine provinces owned by the nine gods created by nine dancing lorkhans
