The serving size printed on the packaging is NOT an "FDA recommended" serving size. It's there to show how much fat, sodium, sugar, etc are in the product. Manufacturers can choose any serving size they like, and they are allowed to round down if the serving has less than 5 calories, less than 5mg of sodium, or less than 0.5 mg of fat or carbs. This is why many food products have ridiculously small serving sizes.
Which is why stuff like cans of soup (which can't be resealed) are labeled as 2 servings even though it's not realistic to use only half a can . They are doing it to trick us with less scary numbers not what the FDA recommends. Non-resealable containers should be required to have the serving size be the whole amount to prevent manipulating of the numbers through dividing what otherwise isn't realistic
@@jcrowley1985 Where I'm from all of the nutritional information is always per 100g or 100ml depending on whether it is a drink or food. The standardized amount makes reading the label so much easier since you can just compare the numbers rather than have to convert the serving sizes to be the same to be able to compare.
Serving sizes are determined by the company that makes the product, not the FDA, but the FDA does have regulations that allow for rounding down of calories or salt content so there’s an incentive to make the serving size very small
@@witoldkopaczewski3954 That's not true, it's just recommended to drink as much water as you can or if you feel thirsty. The whole "drink [x] cups" just is not true at all, use it as a goal, not as a way of living.

The 'recommended daily calorie intake' is 2,878 now? That might be kind of accurate for a fairly active man of average male height - but it's way too much for most other people! I'm a woman of 5'2" who weighs about 114lbs. I walk, on average, around three miles a day, swim laps for 45 minutes three times a week and also does around 10 mins of Pilates daily. Even on one of my most active days (where I walk three-four miles, swim for 45 minutes and do a Pilates session,) I only burn about 1,900 calories tops, according to my fitwatch. The thing is, all sorts of things make a difference to that daily calorie allowance. Height is a HUGE factor; I burn way less calories simply for being short, while a woman who's of average height or taller than average will likely burn more than me even if she's doing less activity. Muscle mass also makes a difference; you'll burn more calories the more muscle mass you have (that's where I can at least claw back some advantage, albeit a tiny one.) And of course gender comes into it too; men typically burn more calories than women do - mostly due to them often being taller and having more muscle mass than the average woman. Even then, you can have a scenario where a short, couch-potato guy will burn less daily calories than a tall, fairly active woman. In short, the FDA's 'recommended daily calorie intake' is way too generic and ambiguous to be of any use as a guideline these days. Far better to actually figure out your specific requirements, using an online calculator or fitness app that can work it out based on your own stats.
Can we just talk about the fact that 38 degrees C is 100 degrees F dude. I would have a. Heat stroke doing hot yoga lmao. I would step into the room and immediately start sweating and be drenched in sweat
Liquid measuring cups and dry measuring cups have different volumes. Mike ate way more syrup than he should’ve. A 1/4 liquid measuring cups isnt that much
To be more accurate with servings is to also weight your food as 1 and 1/2 cups of pasta can vary if you don’t know what that truly looks like in comparison to weight as you may have added less pasta than you should have. Also to calculate kcalories better is to uses a macros to calories calculator as some packages calories are wrong by a 1% to 20% margin of error. Calculating the macros to calories can give a more accurate calorie intake. I’ve had a cup of milk at 150 kcalories but with the macros it’s actually 155 kcalories so 5 kcal more than the original box number. 1 kcal is 1,000 calories or unit’s of energy, even just adding 1 kcal makes a difference. The single box number is called Kcal as in (kilo calories) since calories is naturally a big number of 1,000 calories per kcal. In America we group the words as calories to generalize it which I don’t really know why when it makes it very confusing to understand what someone is saying in terms of calories vs kcal. Hope my explanation and advice was helpful in some way. Thank you for your patience.
the thing is when we feel little hungry, we think we should eat NOW and not just a bit. but we actually dont know what "hungry" REALLY means anymore. so thats why he feels like hes starving ^-^''
Some companies limit their serving sizes to tiny amounts to appear more healthy on the label. Like, if a serving is only 100 calories you might think the snack is healthy, but it very far from that if a serving is 17 grams or something 😐
The recommended serving size is also for people that don't get a lot of any exercise. The more exercise a person gets their Total calories their supposed to have.
1:08 hell yeah, if the pancakes didn't get to absorb that good stuff, and you put that much - they don't need to be doused if it's really good maple. You feel? Eyes be greedy
He should have had more snacks through the day to make sure he was hitting his calorie intake(health snacks of course so he could eat more and I hope he was drinking enough water too.😳
Had to eat serving size due to serious health reasons and reducing salt intake . It’s amazing how much we overeat and the overconsumption of salt. The best way to feel full I found is through eating whole Foods or volume eating. Low cal, well balance of carbs, fat and protein. Processed foods are high in salt, sugar and fat as well as calories.
They should do the recommended serving size in ONLY healthy food and then do a mix of HEALTHY AND JUNK FOOD videos doing the same workouts and whatnot. This video was mostly in junk food.
