Thanks for video. Can you do a break down on the tensioner? I popped mines out and it doesnt want to extend automatically. Unless i have to manually do that. Much thanks
It should have tension pushing out. When you install it you have to screw the plunger back. If it’s not putting tension on the chain then the engine could jump timing.
Will there always be tension on that plunger, cuz i pulled mine out and had or has no tension against it
It should always have tension on the plunger. The screwdriver is only to pull it back to install it.
The name of this part is obviously self describing, but how do you know if it needed replacement & when/why would you adjust tension?
It could get damaged if the engine overheats, or is run low on oil, and it will damage the engine components. You will only need to adjust the tension if you are aligning your timing, or have deeper engine work and need to remove or adjust the cam chain.
