    Alright guys I need some help. I’m planning on making a mini rotary engine for a rc car but I’m stuck on one thing. How can you make a spark without a flywheel? I feel like it’s easy but I still can’t figure it out

      Encoder on the rotor, a controller to fast read the rotation of rotor and spark the plug accordingly to match timing ? Basically a fully electronic controlled injection system for your rotary

    • @SolarWebsite

      That was wild. When I saw the fuel being pushed up the fuel line at about 8:12 I was beginning to think something along the lines of "hmmmm that looks like it could be bad" but before I could finish that thought the damn tank blew up.
      Could have ended worse than it, clothes covered in R/C fuel, open flames present...

    What we just witnessed was DETONATION. That's wild! not only can you see the difference in the burn rate between a normal combustion event and a detonation, you can also see that the engine wasn't rotated to the proper point for ignition. You can see the point where it missed a beat, causing a miss. Then, on the EXHAUST stroke, just before the piston hits TDC to start the intake stroke, the mixture detonates, sending that super fast flame straight out the intake valve and up the fuel line.
    I think you got a little lucky. I'm not sure if that glass would have survived a detonation on the compression stroke. When it detonated it was still on the exhaust stroke, so it had a relatively clear path for the expanding gasses to escape. And since the intake stroke comes next, it never had a situation where it was a confined detonation like you get on the compression stroke.

    • @WarpedYT
      @WarpedYT  4 года назад +15

      How is a really good observation and a really good explanation, you're completely right I just watched the footage again after reading your explanation and that's exactly what happened. now if that would have occurred in a different point in the stroke and the glass would have exploded, well that would have been really cool too.

    • @kasuraga
      @kasuraga 4 года назад +2

      @@WarpedYT High speed footage is awesome. It would've been impossible to know exactly how that detonation occurred without the great footage you took. If it detonated and shattered the glass that would've been an epic bit of footage too haha

    Wow that flame traveling through the fuel line was interesting. I survey boats for a living and one of the requirements is a "flame screen" in the fuel tank vent fitting which is normally mounted through the side of the hull. This screen prevents a flame from igniting the fumes in the vent line and traveling to the tank. It also prevents dirt dobbers from plugging the vent.

    Maybe simulate a supercharger with compressed air plumbed and sealed to the carb. Use a regulator to keep it at measured boost levels. You would also have to pressurize the fuel tank too. See how much boost it can handle.

      @@FUCK_________googIe Will you must be pretty fucking stupid because 14 minutes after he dropped the video I put the model number and the name in check their website everything and that model doesn't come up. And unlike being a cocky keyboard Warrior like you I've owned my own house since I was fucking 22 years old and haven't had to work A-day since I was 30 from retiring. So apparently I can't be too helpless. It's people like you who weigh society down and never contribute anything. Your the type of person who keeps talking shit while your getting your head stomped in because your narcissism won't tell you to stuff. People like you just want all eyes on them.

    Great video, great channel! 😁 For a future episode, how about a clear exhaust pipe ? From 7:26 there is a view that shows the two distinct exhaust pulses; the blowdown phase when the valve opens, then the exhaust pumping by the piston. It would be really interresting to see how the exhaust colored by acetylene travels in a clear tube 😄

    itd be really cool to see you throw a tk10r mini turbo on that or the twin cylinder or v4 version maybe with a twin setup, just make sure to get the billet impeller and ceramic bearings

    I know this is probably a stupid question, but did the cam get degreed back in properly? Something looked strange about the valve events, and advanced cam timing would explain the rpm issue.

      yes.. both marks down, it was correct the engine just ran sluggish, as others have said its one of the reasons Briggs and Stratton and others moved away from the flathead design.
