When I first started working on my soft body physics game, Stick With It, I was intending for it to be on mobile (which is why it has such simple one touch controls). Now I finally get around to finishing what I started, but to make it interesting, I only get 24 hours to do it.
I added some "cool" new features to the mobile version, like an easier difficulty mode called hard mode, particles, and checkpoints. The real effort, though, went into optimizing the beep out of the game, which is absolutely no fun.
Because you have to "secure the bag" as they say, I needed to come up with a monetization strategy. Instead of having ads in the game that pop up when you die, I instead created an undo last move feature, which you can use by watching an incentivized ad. Now players will actually want to watch ads, how neat.
I actually somehow completed the 24 hour challenge... sort of, if you ignore the bug fixing and publishing stuff. Publishing took another day, mainly because you need a mac to publish to the iOS app store, and the mac I have is like really old and excruciatingly slow. But surprisingly, both the iOS and android version of the app got approved very quickly.

I read the 1 star reviews and- Does no one pay attention to the 'about this game' section in the appstore? I think the worst part about the reviews was that some people said that they were unsubbing because of this game. Like :/ You all SAW Sam make this, and heard him say there were bugs and that it was difficult and impossible. Are you REALLY going to unsub when he was completely honest about this? And the people raging about the controls? Did you not read a DAMN thing the details page said?!

Actually right since you can't cross those spikes touching borderline with the platform at checkpoint three. The chance you successfully cross that checkpoint is way less than 1% if you're a rookie or got a phone with bad frame rate.

it could be cool if there were more types of floor like the non stick floor, maybe a floor that triples your jumps length, or a floor that is burning hot and will kill you after ~2 seconds.

I like how it doesn't force you to watch ads and instead you can just watch ads if you're frustrated. Damn, mobile games have really turned for the worst nowadays to imagine that you can't even play a game normally without expecting an ad every 30 seconds.

@@lp2253 Voodoo game smakes like 1 game theirselves, all others r by small indie game developers. The way they work is they ask for the entire project, for review. Than never react to the developer anymore, change a few colors in the game and upload it with 1 million ads to the play and app store.

I just finished the new version of the game in normal mode. It was a nightmare to cross the moving platforms with that stupid moving spike platform between the last checkpoint and finish. I'm so HAPPY :)))))

Well, prototyping can be fast..few days in Unity or Unreal Engine 4 for hyper casual games like this. I created some very simple games (similiar like this) just in few hours.
But optimization, adding more features, build good main menu, add powerups and other things can take a while.
Specially if it's multiplayer game, than you need really lot's of work, backend server, backend infrastructure, databases etc.

You should make the character lose its stickiness when "you ded" so it just turns into a puddle and flows to the lowest point.

Can't believe I'm doing in in 2022 though.
Last night i accidentally did a Speedrun strat that would shave at least 15 secs; on the big rotator platform, i managed to, when it was almost at its peak hight, you have enough up force that you get launched up past the curve in the level, strait to the set of the rotators past a lot of level. I'm sure it can be improved. I did it on mobile.

But no, if Mark doesn't want to play, he obviously doesn't have to! I know as a fan, I cringe every time I watch him do something that's emotionally or physically painful. I'm normally just there for those vids for moral support, lol. I definitely don't want him to do it if he doesn't want to/gets too stressed out because of it. I think as fans, we all want what's best for him.

Hey Sam, I’ve playtested the mobile version of Stick With It up to the spinners on checkpoint 6 and I have a few bugs etc., Pls like so Sam can see this!
STICK WITH IT MOBILE NOTES
-Hardness: When spikes are first introduced (Checkpoint 2?) it is made a lot harder than in impossible mode because the long spike board forces you to land on the top of the platforms for both of the platforms [Suggestion: Remove it]
-Bug: The blob gets stretched out when connecting with a moving platform and another thing, messing up the arrow and if extremely stretched, makes it spin extremely fast [Suggestion: Fix the code so that if it connects to a new thing, the blob unsticks from the old thing]
-Bug: The blob also gets stretched out when connecting with a spinning platform and another thing, but this time when it gets stretched out you can slingshot it if you tap when the arrow is facing the direction of getting stretched [Suggestion: Same thing as above]
-Bug: On the level with the very long spinner that spins very fast if you’re on the end, if you connect with the upper pipe and an end of the spinner, the blob completely freaks out and part of it can glitch inside the spinner [Suggestion: Same thing as above]
-Bug: Once you undo a move on the same long spinner, one of 2 things happen; You are either still partially stuck inside the spinner, or you are unable to tap and move at all (or both) [Suggestion: Make the inside of the spinners completely solid so that it can’t be stuck to from the inside]

That too but I don’t think there’s a simple way to fix that, also someone’s actually completed the game now in hard mode so it’s definitely possible, including the annoying spinner level
