tbh, i really recomend gamemaker, i think its really handy! but i want to export my games and you need to have an subscription for that. now i am not saying that they should remove that
I like the idea of monsters spawning anywhere on the map, but I think giving them the ability to spawn directly on top of you is pretty unfair. That’s not a satisfying challenge for the player to overcome, it just feels like RNG decided you’re done and therefore you’re done. I propose EITHER setting a spawn animation for the enemies where they can’t hurt you but you can’t hurt them so you have time to react and get out of the way, OR setting some sort of radius around the player that enemies can’t spawn in.
@@_skribl assuming this is a response to the spawn radius suggestion, the second one, that wouldn’t necessarily work because the enemies would be able to overwhelm the base and attack from all sides. If a base is too small it’s mathematically impossible to defend all sides when needed.
I think rather than making them able to spawn on you, they should be able to spawn anywhere not in a certain radius of the player, and add a miniboss on levels 11+ that can break stone, but obviously not as easily as the level 10 boss.
I think spawning enemy every where so player dont camp is a good idea but it also punish player who dont camp since enemy can just come out of nowhere and end your run. There should be some indication on where and when an enemy is going to spawn
Yeah no enemies definitely need a spawning animation of some kind, even if it's just a 1-second 'animation' of them fading in from nothing. You could even look at 'Enter the Gungeon's method of spawning enemies, it shows a target on the ground that after a moment will spawn an enemy there, though you can't determine the type until its spawned in. Had another thought, perhaps you could introduce an enemy that teleports other enemies closer to you? This would present a tangible threat that the player will want to go out and directly deal with. They could still base, they'd just need to be very aware of the enemy and put it down before it does too much damage.
The zombies popping in at random locations (including right on top of the player) could be made more fair if you give the zombies a slightly long 'spawning in' animation (like a cloud, portal, or some special effect), where the player can't receive damage from the zombie until that animation finishes. This way, you can keep spawning the zombies in random inconvenient locations without it being unfair (because the player can now react to it).
I think a small “hit” indicator (like a dust puff or blood) when shooting a baddie would add to it a lot-but I understand polish comes later on in the process.
Maybe add survival mechanics in? Hunger + Water bar would provide a reason to leave your base rather than camp, could have small oasis in the map from which you could only refill Water and could add animals or something for food. Sleep could also be challenging as you'd need to balance maintaining energy to run around and defend yourself whilst taking rests during which you're vulnerable
Suggestion for Story Mode: You Have to complete certain quests and certain boss's for each map and you can unlock maps to play on in endless mode each time you beat a map and there are also side quests you can beat them to unlock things like gold which you can use to buy weapons or armor and unlock weapons and armor from beating the quests. also there is a shop which has different themes or armor or weapons and a community sign in to get extra special weapons and also maybe you can add how rare things can be. sorry this might be alot to add but i hope you like the idea and can atleast add one thing from this. 🥺
A very nice way to spice up a game (especially like this one) is adding more enemy types Around 4 (I don't remember exactly) enemy types are good, but a couple more wouldn't hurt for sure An enemy type wich would be cool to have is an enemy wich barely does anything to the player, but deals extra damage to your blocks, breaking them faster An interesting enemy to see would also probably be some sort of bat maybe wich flies over walls. But to be fair, there probably should be some kind of tall wall wich the enemy can't fly over

I feel like this has lots of minecraft relations, but it's still fine. One thing which would be great for you to add would be villages and homes. You would need to protect the villages for each wave and install protections. Not just wood and stone, add things like iron, gems, walls, etc. Also the village could have a merchant to give upgrades and blocks. Some cool upgrades would be speed and health potions, swords, teleporters, walls, etc. Also add a system so your weapon can break if used too long. More places in the village would be a cafe, regular houses, keep, blacksmith, etc. Add stone blocks with ores in them, and trees with fruit! Another good thing would be pets! Just simple dogs and cats to attack enemies. More npcs: citizen, cow, horse, etc. A great thing to add would be day and night, where certain events happen. Well, that's all I have to suggest, hope you add them.

Great idea, but i have a better name for the headshot a boss achievement: "birthday party!" As a reference to the halo birthday party skull (in the halo games if you headshot a grunt with the skull turned on confetti comes out so it would make sense to name the achievement after that as an easter egg/reference)
You can place a bed in your base with a key (I’m saying the key c rn) and if you get hurt the bed can heal you but it takes a wile. Also you can upgrade your materials like if you have a wall, you can upgrade it to have spikes (deals dmg) or have more health. You can place a tree farm (spawns trees randomly near it) for wood and a stone mine (same as tree farm). Every wave with a 5 on the end(like 5, 15, 25 act) will make the enemies have more health and are faster. So it’s not crazy hard you can have armor what gives extra health and speed. That’s all of the ideas I have for your game. I hope you like the ideas.

To prevent them from making a stone wall add a unit which spawns slightly less often whose only purpose is to break walls of stone. And a way to make it impossible to camp is add food so that you need to get out to collect it or else die. You can also add a mechanic where you have a little delay of around 0.3 or 0.25 seconds between clicking and placing the wall, so, that way, once your wall has been breached you cant instantly cover it back up.
Idea: you could add rounds up to 50 and them make them randomly generated, an idea for an enemy is the necromancer that will revive enemys killed in a certain range of it, enemys can only be revived once but the necromancers range gets bigger in impossible mode and enemys can be revived twice

You should add granite and different types of trees just to make it a little better. You should also add A new boss who has A chainsaw and when you defeat it you get the chainsaw for the rest of the game.
My opinion: 1- Enemies shouldn't spawn around you, instead add new enemies that can break stone 2- If you want challange, add a reload system in to the game, you could have infinite magazines but only 10 bullets in each one, so you would need to either swap weapons or wait and reload. 3- The boss at wave 10 seems to be really easy to fight, having a few new moves would make it more fun and engaging to fight.
I think they should spawn everywhere you don't see them. For example, they could spawn maximally close to zone where you see, so if your base will be too big, that you cannot fully see it, so monsters could spawn in when you don't see
I have this idea for a game, it will be called mafia or smt like that, there are some roles:mafia(3 dudes have to kill all the others, doctor(a guy has to choose someone ti save for night),wizard(sees the role of someone every night),cupido (ataches 2 guys, if one dies the other does too) and lastly 5 innocent guys. Every night each role(except innocent) has to do their job (like mafia killing a guy). In the morning every one has to vote for someone to die
Idea: you should add events to your game like when it is October you can add a Halloween game mode where it’s harder then the original game and has certain new enemy’s like instead of zombies it can be pumpkins or there can be a new type of enemy called bats that can fly and drop projectiles. And there could be a boss. After you defeat you could earn new features like skins for your character or guns.
Just an idea, maybe for the 11th wave that spawn near, make an easy spot circle to appear 1st before it spawn, this will make the player able to react(but ya lets make it only apear for 0.1 sec hehehe)
I think there should just be a miner skeleton/zombie enemy and a warrior skeleton/zombie enemy instead of normal enemys having a chance to get a weapon
You need to add Ammo and make the way you get more weapons is to build them, So crafting tables and new items to make guns and ammo with. You sould make traps, water, enemys holding swords (more damage taken), enemys with pickaxes (enemys breaking stone). A Boomerang, and maybe make the Flamethrower spit fire that can burn you and enemys, Sniper Scope. Maybe Spiders that walk through walls and drop cobwebs to slow you down, and make a heathBAR for the boss not lives like the player and fix the thing where enemys spawn on top of you.
I think you could do a thing like every 25 points, you can unlock a upgrade like a roguelike game. Something like more damage, more drops, armor... ect. So you could chose beetween 3 different upgrade and in these upgrade there is new weapons
What if to prevent camping you make it so instead of waves ending after a little bit of time you have to kill a certain amount on monsters for the next wave to start
If I can make one suggestion I would make it so monsters won’t spawn within a certain radius of you that way they won’t kill you instantly the moment they accidentally spawn in where you’re standing
i have idea, the goblin, theyre like the zombies exept faster but arent like the small zombies, they will send in 2 small zombies, killing a goblin is worth it

I thnk you should add like a system where they can't spawn directly on you, or they have a cooldown when they spawn so you can get away from them. The first solution could just have you camp in a small area and cheese the system by making them not spawn on you, the second system makes it so they can spawn on you but gives you time to react.
So I have a suggestion have a wave bar that goes up for as long as the enemies spawn and then starts to go down as you take out the enemies after they have all spawned
[Event modes changes every day] [infection if a player is killed then its a zombie but faster 1-12] [MEGA multi-player 16-32 (downsides 4x enemys 2x bosses) [townhall protect it for 15 waves townhall hp is 2500 8-16 players (downsides 2x monsters) ] its ok if you don't want to do
Will be cool if you add better pickaxes to pick better ores to make like sentries to your base and maybe the sentries be transportable so is more usefull in boss fights

Is the map finite? Also are enemies unable to spawn inside of blocks/the player? If so then you can block all spawning spaces and camp and then you win forever
I think some polished animations and little things like camera shake, and particles, would make the game feel WAY better to play. The way it looks right now, you cant really tell if enemies are taking damage, and the way they just disappear after dying feels a little choppy. The current prototype looks fun right now, but a little polish goes a long way. I would pay money for a full completed version of this prototype. EDIT: I'm not sure what sound effects are and aren't there already but sound design is EXTREMELY important and overlooked way to often.
Idea: you pay somebody on fiver to make a game then give that game to another person on fiver and another to see what they can make on a finished project
Looks like a great game! Btw you could have a check for spawn distance to the player so a zombie doesn’t spawn immediately under the player, and/or have a spawn animation for the zombie spawn (like crawling out of the ground) so the player has some time to react :)

you should make the boss drop sometihng maybe like a heart crystal from zelda or another weapon
Add power ups like one that makes you faster or one that makes the enemies slower.
Add also spikes that make you lose if you touch they or that enemies can spawn with guns or armor.

And when they are about to spawn, so that the later rounds don't depend on luck.

It's pretty cool seeing a game like block fortress but in 2D, cracking work.

Maybe for the spawn anywhere mechanic stop the enemies from spawning on screen but by wave 15 there’s an enemy that can destroy stone

I have this idea for a game, it will be called mafia or smt like that, there are some roles:mafia(3 dudes have to kill all the others, doctor(a guy has to choose someone ti save for night),wizard(sees the role of someone every night),cupido (ataches 2 guys, if one dies the other does too) and lastly 5 innocent guys.
Every night each role(except innocent) has to do their job (like mafia killing a guy).
In the morning every one has to vote for someone to die
Idea: you should add events to your game like when it is October you can add a Halloween game mode where it’s harder then the original game and has certain new enemy’s like instead of zombies it can be pumpkins or there can be a new type of enemy called bats that can fly and drop projectiles. And there could be a boss. After you defeat you could earn new features like skins for your character or guns.

Just an idea, maybe for the 11th wave that spawn near, make an easy spot circle to appear 1st before it spawn, this will make the player able to react(but ya lets make it only apear for 0.1 sec hehehe)
Can you add a chance for the mosters to spawn with a pickaxe or a sword?
I think there should just be a miner skeleton/zombie enemy and a warrior skeleton/zombie enemy instead of normal enemys having a chance to get a weapon
You need to add Ammo and make the way you get more weapons is to build them, So crafting tables and new items to make guns and ammo with. You sould make traps, water, enemys holding swords (more damage taken), enemys with pickaxes (enemys breaking stone). A Boomerang, and maybe make the Flamethrower spit fire that can burn you and enemys, Sniper Scope. Maybe Spiders that walk through walls and drop cobwebs to slow you down, and make a heathBAR for the boss not lives like the player and fix the thing where enemys spawn on top of you.
I think you could do a thing like every 25 points, you can unlock a upgrade like a roguelike game. Something like more damage, more drops, armor... ect. So you could chose beetween 3 different upgrade and in these upgrade there is new weapons
What if to prevent camping you make it so instead of waves ending after a little bit of time you have to kill a certain amount on monsters for the next wave to start
If I can make one suggestion I would make it so monsters won’t spawn within a certain radius of you that way they won’t kill you instantly the moment they accidentally spawn in where you’re standing

i have idea, the goblin, theyre like the zombies exept faster but arent like the small zombies, they will send in 2 small zombies, killing a goblin is worth it
try to add animation to the spawn of the zombies
like they show up on the sand and get up run attack or from up the sky
and animations to the boss when you kill him like slowly fall down or just slowly despear
and for the story mode try to make it ends in level 499 or like that
and try to add deferent worlds not just sand like grass on the side and Forrest, sea, beach, lava, caves in one map 🗺️
and try to add more guns
like AK-47 more snipers and other stuff
and try to add a zombie that have tnt on his body and boom him self on you 😁😁😁
Another way you can make a enemy that is able to break stone or something that would honestly be a cooler way
A ghost! Slow moving, moves through tiles but is an instant kill if touched.
Idea: a shop in the map where you use points to buy weapons and materials. plus armor to make you go faster and have more hearts.

I thnk you should add like a system where they can't spawn directly on you, or they have a cooldown when they spawn so you can get away from them.
The first solution could just have you camp in a small area and cheese the system by making them not spawn on you, the second system makes it so they can spawn on you but gives you time to react.
You should add death animations to all the monsters and the player. Also more bossfights would be fire

You should add a mini gun after the flamthrower, except instead of another 25 points, you need 100 points since it will most likely be overpowered
I think you should add the blood particales when they die from the original gameback
In the waves that enemies spawn everywhere you should add an indicator or the zombie not attack right away or idk its impossible mode so ok
Will be cool if you add better pickaxes to pick better ores to make like sentries to your base and maybe the sentries be transportable so is more usefull in boss fights
My ideas for this game
Make the flame thrower damage the enemy slowly for 3 seconds also only does half a damage to the enemy
Add colors to your person and not just white but you could still use white if you want to. Add red, blue, green, and yellow and that should be fine
Make the chicken avoid the player and here are 2 other animal ideas the pig would be the og chicken but just walk around the cow would avoid zombies and takes 2 health to die

Is the map finite? Also are enemies unable to spawn inside of blocks/the player? If so then you can block all spawning spaces and camp and then you win forever

quick question, how did you make the fire effect for the flamethrower.

I think some polished animations and little things like camera shake, and particles, would make the game feel WAY better to play. The way it looks right now, you cant really tell if enemies are taking damage, and the way they just disappear after dying feels a little choppy. The current prototype looks fun right now, but a little polish goes a long way. I would pay money for a full completed version of this prototype.
EDIT: I'm not sure what sound effects are and aren't there already but sound design is EXTREMELY important and overlooked way to often.

Looks like a great game! Btw you could have a check for spawn distance to the player so a zombie doesn’t spawn immediately under the player, and/or have a spawn animation for the zombie spawn (like crawling out of the ground) so the player has some time to react :)
