Hi Mallory! First, I want to say that you have a very sweet energy about you, so a pleasure to watch your videos. Question: where is a good place to get sweet grass in California?
@@MalloryRoseCoYes! Turtlelodge sell organic medicinal herbs for smudging and teas. I will be mixing the sweetgrass in my small shell with Blessed Thistle or dried cedar. I drink daily rosrmary & sage tea. So, I am trying to incorporate other medicinal herbs in my life. Thank you for the reply & awesome video!
Thank you for teaching me the indigenous way how to properly smudge with the medicines of mother earth. I have been asking the creator to send me a guide(s) from my ancestors to teach me properly. I appreciate you.
Fascinating. My mom used to have sweet grass sewing baskets. I loved how they smelled. Haven't smelled them in years. (i'm 86) Where does sweet grass grow? Where is your nation located? Thanks for doing this!
You said let the bowl of medicine burn out on its own, but if you are using a sage smudge stick and want to incorporate sweet grass with it how would you let the smudge stick burn out on its own? Does it eventually snuff itself out? Do you walk around with it or sit in one spot and it effect the whole house? I have never smudged and am trying to learn. Sorry for so many questions. Thank you for your videos they are beautiful and warming. 💚🙏
Hi Desirae! Great question. You can do whatever you feel - walk around the house or even your property, or just let is burn out within safe vision while you're relaxing or doing another task. When you light the medicine, blow out the flame so it's no longer present and there is just smoke. It shouldn't take too long to go out. Good luck!
Thank you very much, not many of us get the benefit to learn from our elders either from passing on, they dont know &/or its hard for them to talk about it. Very thankful for this
Thanks for your comment, Kim! Sweetgrass really smells so good! It can really get challenging to keep a sweetgrass lit. Have you tried smudging it with other sacred medicines like sage?
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and blessings! 🙏 I would like to know what to do with the ashes and remaining sweetgrass or sage afterwards? Is there a respectful way to dispose of it? Can you reuse the same sage stick or sweetgrass again or is it best to burn all of it each time?
If your medicines have a difficult time burning, you can give a gentle breathe (with your lips close together) inside the bowl to enhance the smoke. Don't inhale it though. :) It's a wooden match to light because it's natural, -and your own breathe to help the amount of smoke. If cleansing a home, stand in each direction of the room and have the smoke sweep into that direction. You can use a feather or your breathe, but be sure to use a gentle breathe so you don't blow out any embers, as that is definitely a fire hazard. Maybe practice outside, until you learn how to do a gentle breathe first. ;)
If only I could be a piece of sweet grass right now, would a green mankini be close enough? Kidding, but on the serious side I'm learning a lot of great things from this channel, plus Mallory is incredibly gifted in so many ways.
Hello there! I was gifted Sweetgrass.
